This book is hilarious, charming, and wonderfully descriptive. The kink is spot on and totally Safe Sane and Consensual, and their relationship is pretty healthy and communicative unlike some other "kinky" erotica stories. I'm definitely going to read this book again and again.

An amazing and interesting book. I really enjoyed the relationship between Sophie and Neil. They are hot together and funny. Sophie' s relationship with her best friend and roommate, Hollie is great too, they are both very funny. I really enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to the next one.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book!!

It's "The Devil Wears Prada" meets every 50 Shades-esque story, only better. Superb writing, and I can't stress enough how much I appreciate that. Great story flow, not error-filled, and the sex scenes!! Oh god, this woman can write a sex scene like no other. Cannot wait to continue onto The Girlfriend. 5+++ stars!

Sophie finds herself in quite the situation when what should have been a regular day at work turns out to be one of the worst she has ever had. Neil Elwood reenter Sophie’s life at the most unexpected time and can we say under the worst of circumstances.

Years ago due to a delay in their flights, Sophie and Neil met at an airport. It was at this time that Sophie was faced with the decision of running from her problems or facing them head on, Sophie chose to run. With a chance meeting at the airport, Sophie and Neil hit it off well and when I say well, I mean it led to an unforgettable one night stand for both of them. But it was also that night that her decision was altered by an unforeseen change in events. Now years later Sophie is standing face to face with the man who is a re-occurrence in her dreams and fantasy and truthfully the person that she compares every male to sexually. With opportunity knocking at the door how can Sophie pass up the one chance she might have to make her dreams a reality even if they cost her another dream?

Sophie is this young vibrant lady who has a job that she both loves and hates, but it’s the journey that has gotten her there that she holds onto the most. Neil changed her life in one night and now here she is in front of him again with no idea what the future holds for her career or her love life.

Now this was an exciting book. I found myself loving the plot as Sophie has the chance to capitalize on a fantasy, but at what cost to her career? Though the no-strings attached sexual relationship sounded like a really good idea at the time, how did she even think it was going to be just that when Neil is a man she hasn’t been able to get out of her head in years. Some of the events in the book made me laugh and some I had to re-read as I was totally thrown with the development. Nope I’m not giving a spoiler!!! lol But you will definitely enjoy the journey the two take and the decisions the both have to face both good and bad.

What was even more interesting was the relationship between Neil and his daughter and the most embarrassing introduction Sophie has ever received in her life……you’ll enjoy this part. Oh let’s not forget the huge age difference between the two which causes a few more problems. Now grab the book and start reading.

The Boss is a wonderfully written portrayal of a PROPER BDSM style sexual relationship. This is a GREAT alternative to the Fifty Shades of Trash series. The first book is also currently free and each book after is very reasonably priced! A great read and much better written.

Hot stuff! Slightly predictable, but no less wonderful or page-turning!! Amazing billionaire Leif assumes the role of Sophie's boss and she finds it difficult to work for this man that was the best of her life. Long secret courtship ensues. Cliffhanger ending!!!

Skip 50 shades of Gray and get this instead! Rich, older boss take on younger lover of some exciting BDSM fun. Very well written. The set ups and scenes were well done and the relationship between the two main leads was very healthy. Overall, a great read!

After reading the summery, this sounded like an interesting book. After getting into the story, and realizing how much older Neil was that Sofia I thought that would direct the story. That actually added to the story and at times was a little irritating, but made Sofia get out of her comfort zone to figure out what she likes and what she needs. After a few twists and turns book one ends in a couple of BIG shockers. I had to start reading book two right away! Book two was even better and the novella following was a perfect companion to everything.

I loved the story! I think Abigail Barnette may be my new favorite author. The tale was gripping and romantic. It was easy to suspend disbelief because the writing is amazing. I love the characters. Everyone from the main characters to the supporting cast are fleshed out enough that it feels like these are real people. The sex is amazing because it reads like a caring relationship. This was an excellent beginning to an excellent series!

If you thought 50 Shades was risque, then prepare to have your mind blown! This book (and the subsequent ones) are excellently written, with a strong female protagonist who is not ashamed of her sexuality. This was honestly refreshing!

When I luck into a book with characters that engage me and a story that surprises me, I just want to throw a parade, and this one and the sequel The Girlfriend, qualify in spades! Neil and Sophie had amazing chemistry and I admit I just love the BDSM elements of it, but his sensitivity and maturity pulled me in and I adore this character. Their story is not the typical "misunderstanding, breakup and makeup" stuffed in between with hot sex that seems to be the formula for a romance novel. Their relationship has taller mountains to climb, especially when you get to the sequel, The Girlfriend. But don't think for an instant you won't get all the spontaneous combustion sex we've come to expect.. it's just that this author did it better. I found the descriptions of their intimacy more controlled and erotic, certainly more creative and to be honest for the first time in a long while I wasn't just turning the pages through a sexual encounter to get back to the story because I had read it all a thousand times before and I was bored. She had my imagination in overdrive.
If this is your genre of book, don't miss it. I am hoping the author will work on more full length books like this and I'll be first in line to buy them.

Really liked plot and writing. The only things I wish for were that it hadn't ended on a cliffhanger (yes, the story continues) and that it had ended with this book (maybe adding a few more happy ending paragraphs).

This book was recommended by a friend who told me that I would absolutely love it! I know she's smiling now because she knows how right she was! This is one of those books that you don't want to put down, and when you have to, you use it as incentive to get your task done so you can get right back to reading it. I will usually form stronger feelings about one of the main character over the other when I read a romance book, however in this book, I quickly grew to love both Neil and Sophie. I'll admit, I wasn't sure I'd like the large age gap between them, but it did not overpower their relationship at all. Abigail Barnette has a writing style that compliments her story and her characters. She provides just enough details to enhance the story without letting them slow down the action or the plot, and she can write some very hot, action-filled love scenes!! This book has great characters, lots of hot sex, passion, humor, and best of all, unpredictable plot twists to keep you involved! I highly recommend this book and can't wait to move on to The Girlfriend. Thank you for recommending it, Kimie!

It was free. 3 days and the additional 3 books in the series later, I am an unabashed fan. I loved the characters and how their D/s lifestyle was portrayed as Safe, Sane and Consensual, and how it wasn't the only thing that brought or kept them together. I love how the author sidesteps the common tropes of erotic or romantic fiction by ensuring that Sophie actually thinks about her actions and how they will affect others before she takes them--thereby avoiding needless and childish drama. The evil antagonist characters are anything but stock; it takes a little digging, but Sophie figures out that most of them are (sometimes obnoxious) people trying to do the right thing according to their POV. And Neil... the sexy, unabashedly dominant male lead. When will you ever see a Dom in a vulnerable or unsexy situation in a novel? Most people aren't dominant or submissive 24/7, and real life intrudes on even the hottest affair. The fact that Neil is in his late 40s, early 50s is treated honestly, too. If you're into this sort of thing, and reading snippets from 50 Shades of Meh left you nauseated, READ THIS BOOK.

This is what that other "grey" novel should have been. Strong characters who are real people, smoking hot sex, and actual plot. I will say that this is a novel that I kept for my weekends at home so that I could curl up and have a little brain candy.

Oh my goodness, everything about this is wonderful. The author obviously did her research before writing about BDSM. The informed consent, the continuous consent, the safe sex, the explanations, getting checked for STDs so so perfect.

Absolutely loved these books! Great story, flowed seamlessly from start to end. Interesting characters life stories and personalities. Neil the rich, hot and steamy older alpha male, Sophie the sweet and sexy young sub woman. Exciting hot and steamy sex scenes. I read all three books within one week. Did not want this to end. Was sad I have to wait unit 2015 for the next to publish. Cannot wait for the fourth book "The Ex"! Totally recommend this series. Well done!
