I really enjoyed this series. The price convinced me to buy it, the characters made it hard for me to put down. I felt so bad for the character at the first of the first of the series, and so sad that the ravages of

What would you do if you discovered that your rather ordinary mom had a secret identity? That, in her youth, she had been a crime-fighter, the closest thing to a comic book super-hero that an ordinary person can be?

Martin Talbot is stunned to find that his mom, now old, and suffering from the ravages of Alzheimer's disease, was in fact, the Black Stiletto.

This series follows the Black Stiletto's story, and the unexpected consequences that unfold from her actions. Extremely well-written, with believable characters. Does get a bit violent from time to time, especially near the end of the final book. But that's bound to happen when someone ticks off the mob....

The character of the Black Stiletto was so like able, so human. I intended to read only the first book in the saga but had to go on to solve the book's mysteries. I found myself trying to figure out what was going to happen next!

I bought this book because it promised the Behind-the-Scenes life of a Silver Age Superheroine, a la Black Canary or Batwoman.

What I got was child rape, slut-shaming, and far too much misery for the kind of book I'd hoped to be reading.

It may be "realistic"? But it's far from entertaining - didn't make it more than 100 pages in....

Oh MY Goodness!!!! What a read!!!! What a bargain!!!! From beginning to end.. Pretty much a Travel in Time story... I read a bit every time I had a minute or two or hour... Finally at the end I had to read until I was done. Well I did put supper in the crock pt and Carrot Banana Bread in the oven but otherwise it was straight reading all day today. Whew! Total Adventure. I wonder will we see some adventures of Gina/ the Krav magna Black Stiletto??? Though I don't know if it would hole up the first Stiletto's adventures.

I read all the books in this series. While altrnating narrative is sometimes confusing, as long as you check the name at the beginning of the chapter, the story you have no problems following the story. The story also jumps into the past occasionally, but again, if you look at the name at the beginning of the chapter, you have no problem following the story. I enjoyed the story and felt like I would like to read more about the adventures of Gina.

I bought this while browser Urban Fantasy. IT IS NOT URBAN FANTASY. It is more of a Mobster story spanning the 50's and 60's.. She has minimum powers if you want to call it that., A "spidy sense" of danger, a human lie detector and very good hearing. Story was okay. but a little long in the telling. No complaints about writing but just not what I thought I was buying. Not really something I would have bought if in hadn't been in the Urban Fantasy section.

This was an engaging unique story, although somehow I don't think the 'saga' is finished. Kept me interested, but I did grow tired of some of the repetitiveness in the story, particularly the detailed descriptions of the fight scenes. That being said, the main character's independence and open mindedness (particularly for a woman living in the late 50's/early 60's) was refreshing.

Such a fantastic series of a 'super' hero without super powers. Fun adventure of a determined woman trying to protect people and find her way in life. I love how her son discovers her past and how he deals with it. You can feel what they are feeling and the authors writing is so descriptive it was fun to see it come to life while I read it. I truly hope this becomes a tv series.
