ARC for honest review with no compensation and what a way to start a new series, Kait Nolan! ! ! Wish to give it more stars but alas we can only do 5*****

When You Got a Good Thing is about two young friends/lovers who end up star crossed at age 18 and now 10 years later meet up again at a funeral…

Kennedy Reynolds has been on the “run” for the last 10 years, thru no fault of her own but the rest of her family do not know the “real reason” she left all those years ago. She has traveled all over the world and is living in Ireland doing a blog of her travels. She has always felt she was missing something but could never put her finger on what it was…..until she receives word that her “adopted” mother has passed away and she needs to return home to help her other “adopted sisters” but can she stay in the town permanently, move forward from what happened in the past and make things right with Xander??? (Mom was a foster parent who adopted four girls and was in the process of adopting another girl when she passed).

Xander, who never left the town other than to go to college and return back to town to work in law enforcement is still angry at Kennedy after all these years but now that she has come back for the funeral he is determined to get his answers so he can move on with his life once and for all. When he sees her again the old feelings return but he tries to push them away…..

As Xander and Kennedy try to work through the past and move on she also has to figure out how to make up with her sisters who still think she is a screw up with no formal education and meet the new sister who is having problems coming to grips with the death of her “foster mom” and worrying about what will happen to her now that she was never formally adopted…..

So many sub plots in this story but they flow together to make you understand the working of the foster home known to them as the Misfit Inn that they grew up in, how each sister became who she is as an adult. how they will do anything to make a life for the young sister who was never fully adopted and for Kennedy to finally find out the “real truth” behind what happened 10 years ago and whether she and Xander can put the past behind and have a life together????

Once you start the book it grabs you in and you may need some tissues, but you will not be able to put it down until the very last word…..it is that good! ! !

Xander, a deputy us saddening my joans death and is not sure how to feel when he learns kennedy is coming home after 10 yrs...his anger still lingers plus he needs his questions answered. being home is hard for kennedy not just bc of her mom vut bc her sisters have pretty much ganged up on her for her absence all these years. xander and kennedy call a truce and are letting bygones be bygones. kennedys mom was in the process of adopting 13 yr old Ari when she died and kennedy is the only one who ari will speak to and its because they can related to one another. Kennedy had always been the family screwup and it doesnt help that her sisters throw it in her face..no job no education no money...but what no one knows is that she has a award winning travel blog and there is interest for her to publish. her self esteem is at an all time low. kennedy has some plans..but will her sisters listen or will they shun her? Xander finally learns the truth about why kennedy left...but what will he do with that info? will kennedy finally be free from her past skeletons?

I adore Nolan's Wishful Series (and the new suspense series set there), so I had high expectations for this book. Nolan met every one of them.
I didn't understand the title of the series and was interested to learn the backstory for the name. Because let's face it, most of us wouldn't be excited to book a night at the Misfit Inn. We want to go somewhere and fit in. And the story explains how the Misfit Inn is exactly that sort of place.
The first several chapters of the book had me in tears. The opening scene carries crushing news for Kennedy and it hit too close to home for me. Nolan does an excellent job infusing her stories with emotions, happy and sad.
I was somewhat disappointed about the ease with which the two characters reunited. And then things crashed around them, so I took back my "well, that was too easy" complaints and started chewing my nails.
I loved the interactions of the sisters and look forward to watching those relationships develop and change throughout the series. Of course, I've already decided who will hook up with two of the other three sisters. But I'm still looking forward to discovering how Nolan will complicate things.
If you enjoy family saga type women's fiction, you will enjoy this. As with all of Nolan's books, it's more than just a romance.
I received an advanced copy of this book and have decided to review it. Five stars for sure!

Kait Nolan does it again with her latest series, The Misfit Inn. Kennedy Reynolds thought she could never go home again after her good deed goes wrong one night after a high school party, and the small town sheriff takes advantage of it. Kennedy and the sheriff’s son are in love and are planning to leave town together. The sheriff is none too happy about it, so he blackmails Kennedy into leaving and never coming back. He takes advantage of her insecurities and she believes every word he says, so she immediately leaves town. When she comes back for a funeral 10 years later, Xander makes it clear he’s never forgotten her and wants a second chance, but when everything eventually comes out, Xander is more than angry at his father and Kennedy. In the end, of course it all works out, but only after Kait Nolan takes you on an emotional roller coaster making you feel everything from sadness and loss to passionate anger and finally compassion, forgiveness and happiness. I was given an ARC by this author. This was just an awesome book, even if I had to use a tissue or two at times!

Kait Nolan does it again with another wonderful love story as well as a beautiful portrayal of family! The tale of Kennedy & Xander captured me from the start. I am not usually fond of past loves that are lost and then reunited but the depth behind Kennedy & Xander's relationship and the ensuing history during their time apart was captivating and believable. I loved the emotional rendering of Kennedy's relationship with her adoptive sisters - each having come up in foster care. As a social worker who has been in the field for many, many years, Kait poignantly captures the complexities of the relationships between the sisters in a way that is so moving and leaves you feeling as you are there & actually know each one. All in all, When You Got a Good Thing is a feel-good novel and the ending, while not a cliffhanger, leaves you wanting more as the writing is so great and you come to love each of the characters!

Note: I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review which I have gladly provided. Hope you enjoy as much as I did! ?

I love Kait Nolan books. The characters in her books are real people with true to life issues. Kennedy is a former foster child who was adopted (along with 3 others) by a big hearted woman with a big house who took in lots of other foster kids along the way. The book starts with Kennedy learning that Joan (Aka Mom) has died. We learn that for unknown reasons, Kennedy left home 10 years ago and her adopted sisters haven't quite forgiven her for that. Oh, and there's the boyfriend she left behind, as well. The rest of the story reminds us that the family we make is as important as the family we are born to. We slowly learn the mystery of why Kennedy left town. We meet more residents of Eden's Ridge, said me as quirky as you might find in any small southern town. I am looking forward to stories about Kennedy' sisters and her friend Flynn.

I received an ARC of this book and wanted to share my enjoyment of this new series.

'When You Got A Good Thing' was an incredible book which I loved from start to finish and is the perfect story to start off this new series, 'The Misfit Inn'. Kennedy Reynolds comes across as a strong, independent woman who has left her home town in order to discover herself without her past holding her back.

This was my first interpretation of Kennedy but it indeed changed as I continued the story and came across so many plot twists that I didn't know what to do with. Kennedy faced a tough decision as a young girl that not many others would've and the way Kait Nolan writes this character just makes me appreciate her and the plot even more than I thought possible.

Not to mention her high-school boyfriend Xander Kincaid who I immediately fell in love with due to his protective nature towards the Reynolds family. His persepective of the story brought deeper meaning to what the characters were going through and I felt that the connection that he shared with Kennedy and Ari (another character who I fell in love with), developed the plot in a way which brought forth questions in my mind, of how I'd deal with the situation.

Overall, this novel was amazing and one with more depth than I originally thought it would've had. The way Nolan develops these characters and their relationships with one another is very powerful and I especially connected with how family relationships were tested within the story. I will definitely be reading this book again, and most likely again!

I received an ARC from the author and have personally chosen to review it with nothing but my honest thoughts.

Kennedy is one of four foster children adopted by Joan. She would be considered the black sheep of the family; living a somewhat nomadic life but managing to sustain herself. It was a lifestyle her sisters didn't understand, but I feel that she chose her life path because of the reasons she had to stay away. She was driven to constantly find a place to fit in since she couldn't return home.

I LOVED this story! While I was upset at the way her sisters treated her so poorly when she returned and not having confidence that she would pull through for Ari and for the inn, it was heart-warming to see her sisters' views of her change. Kennedy finally felt accepted by her family.

I wasn't expecting Kennedy and Xander to get back together so quickly. But, it surely made sense knowing that they both never stopped loving the other. It makes one believe in second chances.

I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Five stars all the way!!!

I really enjoyed reading Kait Nolan 1st book in her new Misfit Inn series, When You Got A Good Thing. Ms. Nolan has the ability to write stories that you will throughly enjoy reading. In the Misfit Inn series, Kennedy Reynolds returns home after traveling 10 years as a free spirit after her adopted mother dies I an car accident and Xander Kindcaid, her high school love whom she has never forgotten.
I loved how their love story is intertwined with the relationships of Kennedy's adopted sisters, the town, and the Sheriff ( Xander's father).
The 1st in the Misfit Inn series, When You Got A Good Thing, is well worth your time to read and I can't wait for the 2nd book in the series to read.
I received a free copy of this book and have voluntarily chosen to review it.

I absolutely loved this book! What a wonderful story about love abruptly lost and reignited years later. A family torn apart when Kennedy was forced to leave town. She was forced to leave her one and only high school lover, Xander, behind.
The story is about Kennedy and Xander, yet their families play important roles throughout the story. Ms. Nolan has written another best seller! You will want to read "When You Got a Good Thing - A Misfit Novel" cover-to-cover! I couldn't put it down myself. Curl up with a cuppa of coffee, bear claw, and enjoy, you won't be disappointed!

I received this book as an ARC from the author in return for my honest review.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and have chosen to review it.

Second chance stories sometimes take a bit of unfolding history and this was one of those. There were times while reading it I didn't understand where it was going but I kept reading and so glad I did. It was all understood in time and set up the entire series. There were so many different stories inside here that it has truly hooked me for the rest.

Returning to your small hometown after 10 years will get any town talking, especially when you leave in the middle of the night and no one knows the true reason you left. Kennedy returns for her adopted mother's funeral where she tries to connect with her sisters but with all of them being adopted they don't believe that Kennedy has anything to offer since she has been free floating those 10 years.

Xander Kincaid was the love of Kennedy's life that she left behind, in these 10 years he has become a sheriff deputy and settled into town alone. He never stopped loving Kennedy and feeling like he was to blame for her sudden departure. He is strong and fiercely protective of this family of misfits.

This was a sad, happy, angry, and heartfelt story that I was glad that I chose to read. Thanks Kait Nolan!

A promising start to a new series. I really enjoyed spending time with Kennedy and Xander. I thought they were an amazing couple. I just wish I could have liked both of their families a bit more since I know we'll be seeing them in future books. The only other character I really felt a connection to was Prue. I understand we are just getting to know these characters so I am happy I'll have more chances to change my mind.

Note: I received an ARC from the author and have chosen to review it.

I loved this book!!! Great start to this series and can't wait to read the next book. The real reason Kennedy left was well just a shock to me and not it's not the typical reason. Love second chance romance if there was no cheating involved and this one didn't disappoint. Not only is this a romance but a story about family, misunderstandings, overcoming conflict, forgiveness and so much more. I love this author's writings and can say this is now one of my favorite books of hers (and I have read alot of her books). I received an ARC copy and this is my honest review.

I find books that tell about first loves finally getting that second chance amazing. This book has some extra added goodies. It's set in the Smoky Mountains, which I live on the outskirts, I guess that would be foothills, of. These two are not young and have lived very different lives since high school. There is quite a bit of tension between them at first.

I really think you should read it to find out what happens between Kennedy and Xander.

Received an advanced reader copy for voluntarily reviewing the book so you are aware. I am now fully addicted to Kait Nolan's writing. This book, the first in the Misfit Inn series, was incredibly enjoyable. I can't believe how you become part of the characters and just want the story to go on and on and on! A cute romance that keeps you guessing as to the reason the Kennedy and Xander were separated and then rooting for them when they finally get together. You experience family members that you love, hate, respect, and so much more. This was a great way to start the series and I look forward to more of the books in this series.

Totally LOVED this. Kait Nolan you have outdone yourself, this was awesome, the emotions and feelings this brought out has me totally hooked. There is so much going on this this story from misunderstandings, long held secrets to love and romance all in a large mixed family.

Loving the first glimpse into the other characters and am looking forward to their stories and of course stories from within The Misfit Inn.

The characters are well developed and the secondary characters are equally as charming. Storyline is strong and it is good to read a story of people who become friends first. The 'so called villains got my goat and I wanted to administer punishment. Could not put it down and I cannot wait to see whose story will come next. I strongly recommend you buy the book clear a few hours and lose yourself I know a good thing ??

I loved Kennedy as soon as she sassed her customer at the pub on the first page. After 10 years away from home and traveling the world, Kennedy goes back to her roots to reconnect with her sisters after a death in the family and maybe reconnect with her high school sweetheart. Xander is a local cop who, consciously or not, has been waiting for Kennedy to come back. I loved reading this second chance romance and watching their love rekindle and the sisters squabble. I can't wait to see which resident of the "Misfit Inn" gets written up next. (And how cute is that name? Wouldn't you love to grow up in a house that celebrated your uniqueness?) I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

How can a book be both heartbreaking and heartwarming?
When it is written by Kait Nolan!
I think this is one of Kait's strongest romances ever.
A story line to make you weep with strong characters that pull you right into the story.
Loneliness, death, lack of self esteem, overcome by redemption, forgiveness and love.
Make sure you have time to read this in one sitting.

I received an advanced copy of this book and have voluntarily chosen to review it. After having read several other books by Kait Nolan, I was excited for a new set of characters and a new setting. Ms. Nolan didn't disappoint! The characters of Kennedy and Xander, a couple apart for ten years then brought back together, realistically portrayed the rekindling of their romance. I felt their struggle to want to be honest with each other while relearning themselves now as adults. A truly great read and I hope there will be more books featuring the other characters!

Kennedy and Xander finally reunite after she was run out of town 10 year earlier. They were teenage sweethearts who never forgot each other. No one knew the real reason she left town but it was not by her choice. When she returns for a funeral she has to face the family and man she left behind. Awesome characters and look forward to the next story in the Misfit Inn series. ARC for honest review with no compensation.

Just when I thought Kait Nolan's Wishful series was my favorite, this book comes out! Misfit Inn series is going to be awesome. These sisters present plenty of sibling drama. There's a love story, a sad goodbye, and a little mystery as the story unfolds. Well written! Great character development. Just enough romance! Can't wait for book two!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The main characters had heartache and hope; secrets and lies, forgiveness for others and self, and LOVE. The writing captured me on the first page and held my attention through the finish. All I can say is if you like romance and life lessons, this is the book for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Bad title (poor grammar), great story. I always appreciate a stand-alone story in a series, and this fits the bill. In real life, social services would have had Ari moved to another foster home immediately, but this is fiction. The rest of the details fit. I loved Kennedy and Xander's story. I have received an ARC of this book and have chosen to review it.
