I thoroughly enjoyed this book , it was one that urged me to spend MORE time reading than I usually do. Though it's a courtroom novel and of course is predictable in that sense , it also contains some interesting twists one doesn't usually associate with legal thrillers.

This was The first book ahead read by Thomas Benigno I felt it was so well written, so full of situations for which I'm not familiar, I couldn't put it down I immediately found another book by the same author for I know I will enjoy it as well.

Enjoyed reading the book. The narrative examines the conflict of an lawyer doing a good job of defending a person with disastrous consequences. It is also a thriller with the reader trying to find out who did what as a killer goes about a grisly job of killing women. Recommend

I loved this book. It is the first Thomas Benigno book I've read and already have the Good Lawyer in my reading queue (I know, I know, it is out of order...). I found the book to be a page turner, just creepy, scary and suspenseful enough without so much gory, graphic detail as to be repulsed. The characters are believable and likeable. I like Grisham books and Benigno is right up there - I'll surely have this writer's books on my watch list.

I really liked The Good Lawyer and was thrilled to find the sequel. This novel took you beyond the courtroom into the exciting hunt for a serial killer. The intrigue was masterful and well plotted. I resented having to lay it aside to get another cup of coffee! Well done TB and I look forward to your next endeavor.

I love mysteries a and thrillers with lawyers as the main character. I also love blooms wrap up everything at the end. This book had all of this. The characters were well-developed And I felt like I knew them. Really enjoyed this book!

The author is so skilled with story that details enhance, rather than appear gratuitous. So very sadly real: the trail of crumbs back to the nest.
Kindly keep telling your stories. I’m anxious to read more.

This serial-killer mystery has one exciting episode where the two investigators explore the murderer's house that is very suspenseful and well done. I thought it bogged down detailing the protagonist's, emotions, religious thoughts, and lengthy illness, but is generally an easy read.

This was my first novel by Thomas Benigno, but it definitely will not be the last. His characters are three dimensional and like able. He definitely has the talent to keep you reading even when it's time to stop.

Don't expect any courtroom drama, lawyer in this story quite practicing law years ago. And don't even try to guess who the killer is. Ending was truly shocking. Interesting family dynamics, also a love story. Gruesome murders, be prepared to read these parts.

I wish the store offered 2 and 1/2 stars to give out but they don't. Benigno can write- great descriptions and scene setting. I WILL read his first book; it just happened that I stumbled on The Criminal Lawyer first. For my tastes, the first 2/3rds of the book was good, flowed well and kept me entertained. The last 3rd was not done well at all and the text just lumbered on forever. For me, the turning point where it started to fall apart was when he brought in his son's reference to the green van and the suspect.. It was so frustrating because the authors thinly veiled reference to the main suspect could have easily been identified or ruled out by technology available in 2010. I think the fix would have been to make the potential connection to the suspect less conspicuous. Less detailed- it was too much reveal. I know that this author can write,I just think this book wasn't ready for primetime.

The Criminal Lawyer was even better than The Good Lawyer! Thanks to the author I feel like Nick is friend of mine instead of just a charger in a novel. I enjoyed going on yet another adventure with him.

I enjoyed the story but found too much rambling on about feelings. We got the point without so much description of how the. Laser felt regarding his estranged wife. Seemed repetitive. Also,I expected the story to have more actual law business in it since it was categorized as a "legal thriller series"

I enjoyed the story, but the Kindle edition could use some serious editing. I think whoever formatted it for Kindle didn't go in and make sure it was correct. There are places where you can't tell where a paragraph ends and another starts -- or should start. There are also places where a chapter starts on the same page as the previous one ends, despite all the other chapters starting on their own page. There are also a lot of typos that should have been caught before the book was published. Some may be formatting issues, but some are just mistakes that should have been caught. The errors take away from the story for me. I had to read several sentences multiple times to figure out what the author was trying to say. It had a lot of suspense and was an interesting read, but would have been better with a bit of editing.

This is another amazing roller coaster ride. The only issue is that you cannot put it down and shouldn’t read before you go to bed because you will never go to sleep..Thomas Benigno is a great mystery writer.

I would of given this book 5 stars as well as his first book,, The Good Lawyer. Fir some reason it wouldn't let me. I enjoyed both books very much. I liked the characters and the story line of them. I was glad this Author kept the romance part of the book alive as well. Good reads , worth your time!

I really did enjoy this story. The characters were relatable to a point, the plot was written with such talent that you can look over the almost never-ending description of everything. I call useless information written to take up space, filler. Other than the filler, it was ret good.

Thomas Benigno's second book is not just a thrilling mystery but also a personal story of love .Love of family, and love of oneself. The novel moves swiftly and is hard to put down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I gave stars for having characters so richly detailed that they become a friend. The stars are also for the "forgetting to breath" moments of suspense. Nick and Paul have chemistry and prove that some things just get better with age.

This is one of my favorite books, it's filled with suspense and will keep you on the edge of your chair from start to finish. It is well written a great story and I strongly recommend it.
I rate this book 5 stars and categorize it as a must read, you won't be sorry

Not only did I fall in love with the protagonist but his friends and family, too! A challenging storyline that's easy to read with characters that remind me of so many people in and out of my own life. I laughed out loud, cried for, worried & cheered for these characters as if I knew them. Well done!

This is the sequel of The Good Lawyer. It’s not a traditional sequel in that it takes place 28 years after the original. The plot seemed good, which is why I went for it. Attorney Nick Maninno’s son’s finance is kidnapped by a serial killer who in turn texts the license plate number of Nick’s car to a reporter whose sister he also kidnapped. It appears that Nick’s entire family is in danger.
It starts out slow and boring like the original but unlike the original it doesn’t get much better. Much more is spend on telling the uninteresting life story of Nick and some other characters than on the plot itself. I found myself skimming through entire chapters. It’s not worth reading.

I enjoyed the book, however, I got tired of reading all the F--- words. There were several on every page, plus plenty of more profanity. I'm glad there weren't any sex scenes. the book did keep me in suspense and I was surprised at some of the twists and turns in the story. I do enjoy reading Thomas Benigno's books.

The intrigue is captivating, but the extra incite and depth into the personalities , especially the Criminal Lawyer, make this book a grade above in its genre. I would recommend this book to those who like character development and a crime to be solved.

dont go by the title 'criminal lawyer.' 50% of it is correct, the remaining 50% doesn't exist! there is no legality in this book at all, and i wasted lot of time waiting for the legal part to come. for the record, manigno and his detevtive friend paul costalino spend lot of time detecting, getting into scraps and getting shot etc. as a suspense novel it might just make the cut.

I like the main character and his devotion to his family . I enjoyed the rear very much and enjoyed all the minor characters including his uncle . I like books that have a happy ending and I’m glad he got back together with his wife and moved to beautiful Tennessee .

A fairly good story but a little trying at times. A little too much retrospecting - for what reason I can only guess. From other reviews I believe the author has learned to tighten up the story and not utilize retrospection just to maybe build more pages into the book that really adds very little to the story. Although adding the recipes is a good touch and interesting.

This was, for the most part, a good story. Some parts could have been eliminated but overall not bad. Plus I always enjoy books written in the first person.

However, the editing is not good at all. A couple of examples: using lead when it should have been led; using than when it should have been then. There are many more errors that a good editor would have caught. The lack of editing significantly detracts from the storyline.

Great book. It was an easy read, very well written. You really got to know the characters, emotional as well as scary. A thriller with no end. I didn't read his first book, I would recommend reading it first. I am going to read it now.

This book drug on with so much junk that didn't add to the story that I came very close to not finishing the book. It sure made the main character seem like a wimp. I will not be looking for any other Benigno books to read.

This sequel is NOTHING like the 1st book, and it's hard for me to equate its title with what was written -- that is, there's hardly anything in this book that has much to do with the main character being a Criminal Attorney. Once you get past THAT, there is a story to be read, it's just not what you'd expect after reading the 1st book, nor reading the title.

I absolutely loved the first book and couldn't wait to get started on this second. Unfortunately I could not finish this book. This book is not on the same level, by any stretch of my imagination. The lawyer is now a detective and there is a lot of descriptive narrative that I think is only filler and I skipped most of it. Sorry. I did not enjoy this one at all.

I hate it because of the über-rich hypocrite leftist attorney character. The atty has a thin-skinned persona that has a complete crybaby breakdown every time he cannot find his car-keys. But I will try to read it anyway. It has some kind of sick attraction for me to see this selfish liberal prick get bashed page after page.

Serial killer inadvertently includes a crime family in its victim selection . Setting off chain of events eventually leading to capture. Fortunately the victim survives by twist of fate. And they live happily ever after.

I couldn't finish this book because I became quite put-off by the lack of style
and misuse of words. I can't imagine who would compare this author to
Grisham , but some reviewers did just that. I'm mystified.
