This is the third Nick Offerman book I've read, and I still finding myself consulting with both Merriam and Webster to determine the denotation of Offerman's immense lexicon. This book is a great addition to his magnum opera, with his wordplay creating a deep desire to go play with my wood in the backyard.
Seriously, I have some 2x4s that I removed from some shoddy construction work in my 1893 bungalow home that I just threw in the back yard. Now I want to make a home brewing rig out of it. Catch you later, gonna go screw around.

I bought this for my boyfriend. While he hasn't touched it since his birthday in March, it looks real good on our bookshelf. If he ever decides to read it, I'll bet you it will be his fav. But in all seriousness, it arrived quickly, in mint condition. What more can you ask for? If you want a review of the content of this book, I can't help you there. But Nick Offerman is pretttttty funny so I say buy it.

I want to marry Ron Swanson so hard. I would even be into a polygamy thing with him and Megan. They are the most amazing people on the earth, and now I want to learn woodworking just because it makes me feel closer to him. .... wait...... zat weird?

I adore Nick Offerman. His stand-up has me in giggle fits immediately, his laugh makes me smile, and hie relationship with Ms. Mullaley is inspiring.
That being said... this book was a Christmas present for my partner, in addition to Offerman's other book "Paddle Your Own Canoe." I haven't had the chance to really look at either yet, as my partner has taken both to pore over. I do know that they are filled with Mr. Offerman's amazing humor, wit, and unique views on life. The book itself is beautifully curated, with mixed media storytelling (prose, poetry, graphic move, recipes). I look forward to my turn with it :)

The author is way to full of himself, and his plethora of ‘fantastic’ people he knows. I thought this might be a book on woodworking..I was disappointed. It was a book on how wonderful the author sees himself.

It has some good tips or information in it, but a lot of it is common sense, introductory knowledge, irrelevant, or regarding projects that you would never undertake. It is okay for minor entertainment, but nothing to write home about. I would not recommend it to my friends, nor would I purchase it again.

My wife bought this for me as a birthday present. I am not a great woodworker as I am just getting into it, but I found this book to be very inspiring. The books covers the art of woodworking with good humor and numerous perspectives from different woodworkers. Initially flipping through the book, I didn't care for several of the shop projects. However, as I read the book, I found that I began to view each project as its own work of art. The book really emphasizes this idea that woodworkers are creating art, even if the projects produced are widely different in technical ability and style.

Bought this as a christmas gift for my husband - he loves it. It's not the kind of book you're going to sit down and read in one sitting... but he's been picking it a few times a week. Nick Offerman writes with such a sarcastically, witty tone that my husband said he'd read anything he wrote but he enjoys that this has practically project instructions as well. Some of the projects are more advanced and we don't have all the tools necessary to complete them but still enjoyable and worth adding to your bookshelf!

Growing up the son of a cabinet maker in rural Mississippi, I was introduced to woodworking at a very young age. Some may say that bearing the last name Yoder predestined me (as the Calvinists would say) with oak sap in my veins and cedar dust in my farts. Also, having a rockin beard helps. I am very thankful for my strong roots in the craft; however, the scope of my skills have been limited mostly to what my father and family have taught me. The main lesson being, "if you don't know how to do something, figure it out". This has served me well. "Good Clean Fun", by Mr. Offerman, has given me a renewed desire to immerse myself in the broader woodcraft community, and deepen what little knowledge I claim to have. I highly recommend this book.

the title says it: there's a lot of fun here. It is a total mashup: partly silly illustrations, partly step-by-step woodworking plans, partly wry observations from Mr. Offerman. There are even recipes, & who knows what all else. If you want one thing or the other you may be disappointed. If you don't mind a crazy mish-mash of styles, with a book that just begs you to pick it up, you will like it.

Nick's best literary work yet. It's funny. It's informative. It's just a good time. Geared especially towards those who enjoy woodworking at any skill level, this book does a great job of giving tutorials on woodworking projects from beginner to expert and still holds on to the witty, dictionary referencing, bodacious writing we know and love from Nick Offerman.

Got this book for my dad, who loves both woodworking and the TV show Parks & Recreation featuring Nick Offerman. I didn't realize he was actually a woodworker. My dad can be tough to please. He found this book both entertaining and fascinating! He's read through most of the book in a week.

This is great, and the Audible version read by the author is essential listening. It's well paced for the budding woodworker and shares the mirth with contributions from the OWS staff. Offerman woodshop sounds like a blast, with a real family vibe. Where do I apply?

Engaging writing style instructs and entertains. Nice balance of sound technical instruction, accessible projects for a range of skill levels, and a focus on the people who make it happen, both in his shop and some heroes in the industry. Inspiring!

I never plan to go out on a canoe, let alone build a canoe paddle, but I delighted in the care put into every page of this book (including the canoe paddle chapter), and I'm excited to try my hand at several of the projects.

Like the cover said, Good Clean Fun. My dad surprised me with a signed copy and I couldn't be happier with the content. Nick is one of my favorites, and I love what he stands for in Hollywood. The details and pictures are great, planning on building several of the items in the book,

I wish Nick would have taken more time to define the terms he uses. Not all of us are experienced woodworkers and understand every term. It's taking me a lot of time when I stop to seek a definition of the many undefined words in this book. He says this book is for everyone but it seems more like a book for relatively experienced woodworkers.

A real Gassy Jam!
Fans of Offerman Woodshop, woodworking or Nick Offerman will love this 3rd book* from him, full of how-to chapters from the Offerman collective .
Funny, useful, fun, and really a very easy read. Might make a nice present for that guy on your list with a workshop full of tools, and shoes always covered in sawdust. Maybe he'll make you a bookshelf. Sneaks in a few life lessons from working with your hand with wood, too. Contributions from the whole Offerman family.
Takes you around to some of the schools which still teach woodshop, etc.

This book is terrible; I wish I could give it zero stars. Let's start with the old adage, don't use a two dollar word when a ten cent one will do. Maybe Nick is in love with the English language or maybe he's in love with the idea of being an intellectual and can't resist his pretentious urges, I tend to believe the latter, but either way I'm guessing Nick owns a dog-eared thesaurus. Many of you may have received this book from a significant other, who thought based on your appreciation of the character Ron Swanson that you'd appreciate this book. The problem with that is Ron Swanson is just a character, Nick Offerman on the other hand is a very different character. I imagine Ron Swanson would send Nick Offerman one of his famous strongly worded letters: "Dear Nick Offerman, you are the melamine of wood, be a real woodworker or be nothing, zero stars". This book has no clear purpose other than to entertain, which it only occasionally mildly succeeds at. The reader is treated to such woodworking feats as a bottle opener, drink coasters, pencil holders, kazoos and a bird house....I'm not making that up. This book appears to be intended for those people who are so far removed from any form of manual labor, trade or skill, that even the idea of simplistic arts and crafts appears to be an exotic adventure. They type of people who like to use the word, "maker", to self-identify as someone who assembled an Ikea piece of furniture once....don't worry Jimmy DiResta fans, he gets a shout-out in the book. I half expected the book to culminate with a googly-eyed, hand turkey project. What the book lacks in woodworking and humor it makes up for in healthy doses of virtue signaling ensuring we understand how able the women of OWS are, how there's a transgender employee, we're even treated to a cute cartoon, "The Best Way to Fell a Tree", where two gay men who become lumberjacks after shopping for the right clothes decide to have a picnic, rub sunscreen on each other and take selfies in lieu of felling the tree and hire out the job to two butch lesbians (guess Hollywood liberals can get away with sterotypes?). I would say this book has no redeeming qualities, but I found that it's useful for lighting kindling.

I don't have a problem with gay people, but there is waay too much unnecessary gay stuff in this book. I don't need a gay lumberjack comic telling me how to chop down a tree. It wasn't at all funny beyond the adolescent "look at those people being gay" that just doesn't cut it any more. Nick isn't gay, so why is he making gay comics about himself. And finally, IT DOESN'T GIVE ANY TIPS ON CUTTING DOWN A TREE.
Nick, we get it, you are progressive and you like gay people. It's the 21st century, so does everyone else. It's like being pro-abolition or how trebuchets are superior to catapults. You're not taking a bold stance, stop bragging.
Also, virtually all of the wood working projects are terrible. Example, the pencil holder is a piece of wood with a hole in it. They made that a 4 page instructional (on my kindle, may be different in print).
I guess what I wanted was a book about woodworking by Ron Swanson, but instead I got a book about how to glue scraps together by Nick Offerman.

It tells all about his shop and the people he has hired, their interesting stories on their journey in their careers, what they do in the shop, and of course projects and instructions to finish them. There are lots of tips also on how they do their jobs efficiently and to perfection. It is all told by Nick, in his comic style, and about the skilled people he has met or tracked down in his woodworking journey. It is just a nice mash-up and comically well written. He has other books, as well, that I may be looking at purchasing.
