A Thriller (The Scot Harvath Series Book 2) - Path of the Assassin

Somehow the author misses the mark in the thriller category. Whenever it's supposed to be exciting, it becomes predictable, leaving one wondering when things were going to take off. Instead, the story just keeps rambling along until it quits. There's not one single surprising twist in the plot. I found it very easy to put down.

Quick, exciting read that I couldn't put down. Scot Harvath once again kicks butt all around the globe. This time partnered with Meg Cassidy, successful Chicago entrepreneur, to take down Basin Nidal and the terror group Hand Of God.

Great book! Holds your attention and there is enough suspense to keep you going to find out what twist and turn will come up next. I am reading the entire series. Scott Harvath is a very complex guy and all rough and tumble!

Path of the Assasin was an engaging, fast-paced read. Brad Thor did an excellent job of further developing Scot Harvath, building on the events of the prior book, and adding suspense and intrigue with a mysterious assassin. Great read!

BIG FAN of Brad Thor's books. Have recommended the series to several friends - who have recommended to several friends, etc.
I enjoy the ancillary story lines regarding the seemingly unknowing political "hacks" in the novels. Especially because it is so correct.
Keep writing, I will certainly keep reading.

As this begins, Scot Horvath awakens in Gloria's apartment in Zurich but she has left early for work. She has realized their relationship will be ending as he will live in DC while she will stay in Switzerland. She invited him to attend the court appearance of their common enemy. The enemy gets blown up. Scot chases a clue to some bad guys and ends up in Jerusalem without even a "goodbye" to Gloria in the rest of the book. In Jerusalem he is kidnapped by a gang of CIA thugs and taken to DC. There he is assigned to work with the CIA to recover a hijacked 747. Meg Cassidy is pretty lady whose public relations firm came up with the idea for the 747 cultural exchange flight to Cairo that got hijacked. Scot is less than happy at being captured by the CIA and forced to join them. This relationship holds throughout the book! And he's the hero? Scot meets Meg Cassidy after he jumps onto the hijacked aircraft and finds she has organized many of the other passengers to take out the bad guys.

She saw the main bad guy up close. (She shot him in the head but he lived). Because she can identify the bad guy (Scot saw him too on several earlier occasions), the President orders Scot to continue working with the CIA and to train Meg as a CIA operative so she can go with them to catch the bad guys (who keep slipping away).

The rest is a long chase over North Africa and Europe. Meg and Scot are always together. She fights pretty well. There is no romance. They both survive. I am starting to lose interest in Brad Thor's style. His description of a HALO parachute assault, including the landing is not completely accurate. I'll try one more of Thor's Horvath books. Maybe he'll kiss the girl.

Slow start to the series but Harvath is growing on me... I come from the mitch Rapp /Vince Flynn series (read all. Of them) and I had my doubts and reservations for these books but they are getting better and better I will keep reading and see if they pan out.. Off to the next one

Brad Thor is the best writer on the market today. His books will keep you up because you cannot put them down. Excellent writing, strong characters and good plots are the handiwork of this man. Strongly recommend ALL of his books

Standard Brad Thor fare, non-stop, cannonball rolling around in the bed of a pickup truck action. My only knock on this volume was the main villain who started out unbeatable became progressively less competent toward the end of the book.

This series of stories is starting off strong. Brad Thor is a great story teller and his characters are believable.

This series of books is definitely worth your time and you will have fun reading them.

I am hooked on the Scot Harvath series. Great detail in each book. Makes you feel like you actually know the places that are in the story. I actually cannot put these books down. Kind of sad in a way, but I cannot.

This is a great character, and this story is another great story full of tension and excitement. You can start with any of this authors story's and end up end up with a great character and you can't stop reading! This is fun to read, you will enjoy it.

I enjoyed this read. gets a bit complicated and the ending a bit glossy. but that's Thor too. Up to his usual good writing. Quick read, weekend fair. although no new ideas, that's not what this book is for. Fun

Another page turner in the Scot Harvath series. I recently became aware of this series and am now reading them in order. Have to love Kindle. Buy the next book anytime anywhere. Looking forward to the continuing adventure.

This very quickly moving novel turned out to be exactly the kind of entertainment for me at this time. A little more of this action hero Scott Horvath in this imaginative work gave him great credibility. Thank you, Brad Thor. This fast read kept my attention orbited. -- Joe Fegan

As I have said before I needed someone to replace Rapp in Flynn's novels, very happy to have been introduced
To this author. I plan to read every book in order. And any new ones that become available. I'm a fan.

Characters are not well developed. The characters have no depth. The book focuses on being "macho". The only reason I chose to read the book in the first place is because our book club chose to read it.

But also quite interesting and informative. After finishing my second of Mr. Thor's books (Lions of Lucerne as well), I am very impressed at the detail included in these books and the way it all ties together in the end. Thor definitely does his research. Look forward to reading more!

Action packed, twisted and full of mindful visions drawn with clarity of words. Brad writes suspenseful thrillers that consume the reader in a spy vs spy vs spy tangle that keeps you guessing, yet intrigued, with subtle clues that deliver an 'aha' moment, time and again. Characters are well drawn, who you know, you will meet again. Bring a mobile device for research as you read his historically accurate references and you will find yourself researching for more info on the persons, events and placed visited.

This was an improvement over the first Harvath novel. More realistic scenarios and seemingly better researched, not as many far fetched situations. Scot was more believable. I ll definitely move on to book 3

I love political thrillers and have added Brad Thor to my list of favorite authors. His stories are filled with details and scenarios that can only attest to his research and personal experience. Have to sign off now so I can read the next Brad Thor novel!

I like Brad Thor's writing style, usually. I think Path of the Assassin was a bit over sensational - particularly with the assassin - identity, skillset, etc - over the top and detracted from a decent plot.

It is a good book, holds your attention, taking over & making hostages of passengers on a plane - I think about that situation every time I board a plane.

I bought this book on the store.com - it was just as advertised - great condition & arrived promptly too.

Brad Thor is a terrific story teller. His book keeps the reader on edge with anticipation and then allows the action to build until it bursts like fireworks. It is really fun and enjoyable to read and track the path of the assassin.

I thought the ending sucked, badly. Almost like the author didn't know how to finish it or just got tired of writing it and wrote the ending. The rest of the story was OK but the ending really blows. The first two books were way better. Hopefully he doesn't continue this trend in his later books.
