I thought this was a great continuation of the series. A good solid space opera with all the essential components. Unsure hero? check. Big capitol ship battles? Check. Space fighter dogfights? Check. A huge conspiracy mucking up the backstory? Check. I like this story a lot, I like how the author brought back the feel of ancient Rome but with a modern twist. The science is pretty real and seems believable. Are there some spelling/grammar errors of course. I'm not one of those whiny "I couldn't get past the bad editing or spelling errors" people so a few things like that is of no consequence in a good read. And this is a good read.

Nothing new here. Not really. Once again we have page after endless page of fighter battles. I have learned to skim past them, since they never advance the plot. They are simply "filler" employed by the author to keep his page counts high. Overall the story was ok, but there is a underlying repetition to these books even beyond the fighter battles.

Evil villains, shifting alliances, epic battles. Ever better character development--and such believable characters with all their human frailties. Hard to let them go until the next book. Stand by, all hands!
Sword and Serpent Book III - Storm of Fire and Blood :: Chains (The Seeds of America Trilogy) by Laurie Halse Anderson (2008-10-21) :: Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson (2003-09-15) :: Pinkalicious: Flower Girl :: Land (Stranded Book 1)

The was the culmination of the history of the Alliance and Confederation symbiosis. The cultural descriptions and character development are truly magnificent! Jay, you really nailed it on this one.... on my way to the transit point with Dauntless!

Jay Allan never disappoints and this book is great. The character development and storytelling is first class. Lots of space battles and some ground fighting as well. The characters are interesting and their challenges are very well described and believable as the author has done a superb job of creating "real people" within the story. Keep them coming!

Fire purifies. Fire destroys. Fire can be used constructively to build, heat and prepare sustenance. Treachery is different. Even when employed for a greater good, it leaves a taint, a dark stain on the soul, a lessening of what was before. It's ugly whoever employs it, for whatever purpose. So we find Tyler Barron, once again embroiled in war in Alliance space. On one side of a dirty civil war instigated by Union treachery and guile. There is no future for the Confederation if the Union supported side wins. It is all or nothing, win or die trying. Tyler forges friendships and respect in his allies through his and his warrior's fighting prowess and honor. Using bold tactics, the rightful forces are victorious, securing a border and assistance e in the Confederation's continuing conflict with the Union.
