This is the second installment in the series and I am not sold on continuing it. The main character, Agent Riley Paige lacks depth for me and I just don't see what is so special about her abilities as an FBI agent for the BAU. She is known for her ability to "get inside" the serial killer's mind. She is a behavioral analyst; isn't that what the agents in the BAU are known for? Nothing stands out for me that separates her from her team. She is emotionally and mentally unstable, yet she is made the lead on most cases. She is often wrong with her profile.
There are a total of 5 books in this series, but I don't feel compelled to go any further. Maybe I just watch Criminal Minds too much and see gaps throughout both books that I have read thus far. There is no suspense or "wow" factor for me as a reader to continue this series.

Blake Pierce develops good, likeable characters in the police and keeps a good, fast paced story line. He does a fantastic job on the psycological make up of all the characters in the book. Once I started the book I did not want to put it down.

Good story and good character development. The serial killers made my skin crawl. How many monsters are roaming around still free. Riley and Bill continued with their tourchered relationship. The editing was poor.
Taken :: Taken By The Duke (The Pleasure Wars Book 1) :: Taken by the Enemy :: Murder in an Irish Village (An Irish Village Mystery) :: Taken by the Beast (Conduit Series Book 1)

This is a story where the main character, Riley Paige, has the ability to get into the thoughts of serial killers. On the flip side, the author writes from the killers perspective as well. This was a page turner that I read quickly. I can’t wait to read more.

Two incongruous story lines and neither fully developed made this book unfortunately unbelievable. What parent leaves a teenager alone in a hotel room in a city far from home, friends, etc., after being kidnapped, no less, starved, downright terrified....to chase after a completely unrelated killer? Oh, the hotel housekeeper will keep an eye on her. Come on!!! Too many editing mistakes also made for an irritating read. This could have been such a good book, actually two good books, had the two plots been more fully developed with more believable solutions and outcomes.

Great reading, fast paced. I liked the main character, her development and her stamina. She is typical of dedicated professionals that really work to stop the bad guys. I would read more from this author.

Story moved at a good pace . Surprised somewhat by the early resolution of the one story line .Major contrast between the two serial killers, one a diabolical fiend the other a pathetic victim himself.

This is a very tastefully done murder mystery. I love how she makes you feel like your right there understanding the minds of the murder and the detective, but without being so gory it leaves you with nightmares. Very suspenseful book!! Can't put it down! Loved it!!!

I really liked this book and the narrator kept the story line active and interesting which certainly made the time fly by.
Once Taken (a Riley Paige Mystery--Book #2) is the first book I've read in this series, so I am certainly going to look around for Book 1 and any future books.

My only critique would be the need of better editing. I will continue to read this series and recommend it to mystery lovers. I did find both book 1 and 2 hard to put down, reading late into the night.

The storyline is riveting and very well developed. All of the characters are fully developed. And finally it is a page turning mystery with very well written ending. I would highly recommend this book.

Great book but confused about the two completely different stories together in one book. Both story lines were good but one ended about halfway through and the other one started. I also kept getting side-tracked because of the many errors in grammar, words typed twice or words missing. I read every word and this was very annoying.

I have just recently started reading this author. I am very impressed with all the books I've read by him. I like that the books contain the same characters from book to book. Really love these books!
