I genuinely love this series. It is a charming mystery series that keeps your attention. There is a little romance with a charming love interest who carries through the series. A very likable heroine (and the situations in which she finds herself) also provide humor. It has a bit of everything that makes a mystery series enjoyable.

New series to me. This is a delightful author. Good writing, not too serious, fun and yet enough intrigue to keep me on the edge of my seat wanting to read and cancel plans..... I'm just finishing next book, and have 2 more.

Rhys Bowen has most graciously given us a host of the usual characters, a bit of history and a heroine we can identify with. If your looking for a lighthearted fun read then you will enjoy her take on the fringes of upper crust society. She never fails to deliver in her Royal Spyness series.
Her Royal Spyness :: A Gripping Financial & Medical Thriller full of Mystery & Suspense (The Technothriller & Crime series Book 1) :: A Romance of Exmoor. In Two Volumes - Vol. I - Lorna Doone :: Lorna Doone: A Romance of Exmoor: 2 :: Royal Blood (Her Royal Spyness)

Rhys Bowen has created interesting characters, including the casually royal Georgie. Not exactly a cozy and not exactly a thriller, this series is a delightful romp through English aristocracy. It’s an engaging page turner!

First of all this series is great...amusing and cleverly written with fabulous characters. However I have really come to appreciate the talent of Katherine Kellgren! Her characterizations are nothing short of perfection, making each one come to life. Her range is astonishing, making a great series even more enjoyable. What talent!

I loved In Farleigh Field, so I downloaded Her Royal Spyness, but it isn't nearly as sophisticated a novel as the former. The story was rather trite, the writing was superficial (almost cartoonish), and the characters had all of the cliched attributes of B novel characters. I highly recommend In Farleigh Field, but you should pass on Her Royal Spyness.

I am loving the Royal Spyness Mysteries by Rhys Bowen. So far I have read the first three books in the series, and have three more on order. They are great little mysteries, full of British humor and characters. The time period is set during the years between WWI and WWII.

I had become so very tired of the dry repetitiveness of the Molly Murphy series that I put them aside only to find with a groan that the book I had left to read was another of Ms. Bowen's. HER ROYAL SPYNESS turned out to be a bit of fresh air with lightness and humor. The main villain (and why) was obvious early on, but any possible coconspirators kept me guessing all the way through.

Cute. Very light reading. Love the historical anecdotes. You'd have to read them in order for it to make sense. This one actually had the best overall plot line ... BUT .... the "airplane rescue" was just too too over the top.

There's nothing about this book that stands out other than it's an amusing story about upper class Brits. It was written and read like a diary of a slightly rebellious twenty-something looking for a little excitement. I read it very quickly and will probably read others in the series when I want something that holds my interest but doesn't take forever to finish.

I really like this author's Constable Evans series and Molly Murphy series. This series? Meh.

As in the Molly Murphy books, the author blends fictional characters with real historical people. That's a fun approach, if the story as a whole works. In this case, the fictional characters are flat and the plot drags. I thought maybe it just started slowly, so I read another book in the series. Same reaction. So I won't be reading any more in this series.

Hey, nobody hits a home run in every game.

This was one of the most fantastic historical mysteries that I have read in a while. I honestly could not put it down. The main character, Georgie, is an extremely likable heroine. I liked the author's decision to write in the first person, which made each scene very vivid and intriguing. I got to see the inner workings of her mind, as she searched to unravel the mystery. I would highly recommend this book, and I can hardly wait to start book #2, A Royal Pain.

If you like Downton Abbey you'll love this.....it sounds like it could be a Downton Abbey episode...but wait...maybe it was already with a different guise.
Anyway I don't like graphic sex...cursing etc.....I have an imagination....so I appreciated this book for that alone.
So kick back...turn on your best "Brit" accent and imagine this could be Downton or one of their neighbors.
Enjoy !!!!

At first the pacing in her books seems quite slow, but in setting up the crimes she also goes about living her life in the slow lane of a high flying set of royalty throughout Great Britain and Europe. Very good read and lots of fun.

Set in 1930's England. A good cozy mystery series. About Impoverished nobility during depression but trying to act as if nothing has changed. I find the historical viewpoint interesting as well as the heroine and her adventures.

The royal spyness books provide light fun for lovers of the true mystery. No gory descriptions or dark psychotic characters. Even the villains are easy to mistake for party guests. If you like a well plotted murder mystery, likable characters and a bit of history, you can't go wrong with this series.

The setting is England in the 1930's. Georgie is a plucky heroine distantly related to royalty. She investigates a murder while her own life appears to be in danger. Good plot, good love interest. Looking forward to book number 2.

OK, this is far from great literature, but fun anyway. If you are looking for intellectual challenges, skip it. If you are in the mood for a little brain candy, a minute dose of English history, and a silly but charming protagonist, this is for you. There is also a handsome hunk named Darcy O'Mara-- an Irish mystery man to keep things interesting.

The setting in the Highlands is beautifully described, the large list of characters very inyeresting in their variety, and some of them clearly very well researched. The mystery is beautifully constructed; the danger at times very real; and the touches of wit sometimes absolutely hillerious. Lady Georgiana Rannoch {Georgie to her friends} is in her ancestoral element in many ways including the danger she is either involved with or comes close to. In this third Her Royal Spyness novel the main characters are well developed and accurately fitted into the British social situation of the mid 1930's. It is clearly a well researched novel. I found it also a very enjoyable read with many amusung moments amongst the suspense. It was a book I found hard to put down.

Interesting and we'll written though there were many typos. Held my interest throughout. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries. A great book to read on vacation or at the beach.

Frivolous fun among the upper classes in '30s London. This first book shows enough promise to make me want to read the next, but the characters and plot will need to improve for the series to become a favorite.

Female detectives sell these days. So do historical novels and aristocracy/royalty sells all the time.
This detective is as royal as royalty can get and as poor as a churchmouse. This makes it possible to write a good story and a good story it is.

The third in the series of mild-mannered mysteries that take place between the wars in England. I particularly enjoyed the peak into the life and upbringing of a member of the British aristocracy. "A lady does (or does not) ... ". Amusing, gentle, autocratic... just what I imagine the royal family might be like, with a bit of foreshadowing about "Lilibet"
