If you're considering buying this book, you should know it's not really a book, but a collection of loosely related adventures. That was less fun for me as a reader, because there was less opportunity for characters to evolve or for me to know them any better than I had after reading the first couple of stories.

The characters were amusing and whimsical, at first, but by 75% of the book, they were losing their charm. If reminded me of watching Weird Al Yankovich videos: At first, they're funny and very clever, but after 5 or 6 in a row, they wear pretty thin.

The lack of character development may not bother you, and the stories are undeniably fun, so you can always try a sample to see if this book is to your liking.

I don't usually review books, as it's subjective, you like what you like. But for a slightly different take on what it is to be a vampire, this was neat. I chuckled some, found myself surprised a couple times. Fun book, and nice for reading before bed, since it's more like an anthology of short stories that make up the bigger story. I still finished it faster than I meant to. (a compliment)

It was alright, but not terribly exciting. I suppose this is one case where you should take the title seriously.. It ended up being more of a mash-up of several shorter stories centered around Fred and his preternatural friends.
Super Powereds: Year 1: Super Powereds, Book 1 :: Forging Hephaestus (Villains' Code Book 1) :: the Vampire Accountant Book 4) - The Fangs of Freelance (Fred :: Super Powereds: Year 2: Super Powereds, Book 2 :: Split the Party (Spells - & Stealth) (Volume 2)

What caught my eye was the title. The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant is neither uninteresting nor unadventurous. It is, however, well written, fun, funny, and bordering on the ludicrous. It is a crazy ride through various (mis)adventures with a misfit band of parahumans: a vampire, a mage, a zombie, a weresteed, and an agent of a secret, nameless government organization. Danger and rescue, then more danger and rescue (and still more) abound in this tale of undead Fred and his companions. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

So Fred....what can you say about a reluctant and definitely non-Hollywood vampire? Well you could say that his story is amusing, well thought out, inventive, funny, odd, strange and no one sparkles. These stories are a nice take on the usual vampire line, the internal logic holds and the feel is a little like Christopher Moore but less obviously intending for the humor. I liked this collection quite a bit.

Delightful tongue-in-cheek story about a Casper Milquetoast accountant - who just happens to be a vampire - and his (mis)adventures after braving his high school reunion. Definitely not a serious story, but the story-teller does a better than good job of writing it. Thoroughly enjoyable read!

I LOVED this book. The humor, the snarkiness, the character development... I also enjoyed the fact that the book was split into mini-episodes, I guess we can call them, which were further split into shorter chapters. It made it a quick read, which I was kind of sad about because I enjoyed this book so much. DEFINITELY want to read the rest of the series!

Move over Bilbo! Adventures in short bite sized almost stand alone stories.
Fred does not really complain, even enjoys them. Would that the rest of us could be so gracefully drawn out of our comfort zones with happy endings to boot.
Please read this book, good writing, with fun fantasy for vanilla, as well as chocolate and everyone else!

Hilariously written. Book of shorts from the viewpoint of an uninteresting, fastidious accountant vampire. He is quirky in life - and more so in undeath. But what he failed to find in life, he has found in un-death --- a hilarious group of friends, loyal and loveable. It's a very entertaining read - and characters you just wish you could meet.

I had grown tired of vampires, werewolves, and don't get me started on zombies. The title of this book got my attention, and I'm glad it did. The premise is fun, and the writing quite good. Yes, there are vampires, werewolves (actually a lot of different were-animals), and the (overdone in my opinion) zombies, as well as other creatures of the dark places. But, it is tongue in cheek.

The basic premise is "what happens when a nerdy CPA is turned into a vampire"? I love it. It's fun. I hope there will be more books.

I would classify this book (series?) as a Fantasy Comedy along the lines of those written so well by Piers Anthony but without the puns. If you must have puns, look elsewhere; if you enjoy humor of any kind, you should try these books, you just might have found something new to love.

This first book in the (un)adventures of the main character Fred Fletcher is full wit, sarcasm, sass, acerbic dialogue, and, most surprisingly, whimsy. While metaphors and the narration are fun but dark, there is always a tongue-in-cheek feel that is disarming. I will gladly recommend this series to anyone looking for a fun easy read.

A refreshing take on the Vampire and supernatural world. I found both the story and characters to be very entertaining and enjoyable. I was somewhat surprised as how quickly I liked this book and was wanting more when I realized that I completed it.

Beautifully written, full of empathy, totally missing grammatical errors. A true delight of a book. How can you not love a vampire who wears sweater vests, and worries about hurting people's feelings?

I highly recommend this most delightful read. Can't wait for the next book. This had better be the first in a series!

The "different take on the vampire" bit has been done so many times, it's rare to find something that's actually original or any good. This one is very good and highly original! The author does a great job of maintaining the character's personality all the way through, and it leads to a lot of good humor. This is simply a fun book to read. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the further adventures.

This was FANTASTIC!!! Don't be mislead by the title! So glad I finally got around to reading it, I was a little hesitant at first because of how it was presented. I did think the cover was quite intriguing, why I purchased it. Well done Mr. Hayes! Looking forward to more of Fred's adventures!

I loved the presentation of the short stories. I thought it was a fresh take on the stereotypes in fiction right now. I laughed at some of the twists and enjoyed this book immensely. I wish I was someone really famous who could bring lots more readers to this book. Great job! I want to read more about Fred and his friends.

Why?
You. Will. Laugh! This was absolutely the most hilarious book ever. Fred is so sincere in his cowardliness it becomes lovable! You'll fall in love with everything: the plot, the writing, and especially the characters. This book is a well oiled machine working in complete symmetry and you should read it this moment!

Drew Hayes has the type of whimsical humor that tickles the funny bone, yet he presents it to the reader with such deadpan aplomb that it sneaks up and leaves a lasting impression. Combined with an excellent storyline and a well-developed backstory, this character iteration is destined to become a cult classic - at the very least!

I absolutely loved this book. It was great. The author weaves humor and interesting story telling into a very entertaining book. I also loved the way each chapter was a stand alone story but still wove into the book as a whole. Masterfully crafted.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a wonderful example of comic fantasy, right through the " About the Author" page. Drew displays, in my opinion, a wacky sense of humor which I truly appreciate. I hope to read more of his stories and urge others, who are fans of this genre, to do the same.

Take this review with a slight grain of salt, since I love urban fantasy that strongly employs the mundane aspects of life: needing a job, clean underwear, having to pay taxes, dealing with high school reunions, and sensibly trying to avoid danger and drama

This story was charming, entertaining, numerous, and exciting: I really hope more gets written, and soon

Very different take on the genre! The story was fast-paced and funny. I do wish there had been a bit more character development, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and was kept interested in finding out what happened to the characters.

What a hoot ! This was the most imaginative and hilarious story telling at its finesse. We approve !
Is it just me, because I was getting so........ sick of the characters from Twilight; A whiny bunch. This journal (Story) was a breath of fresh air; If you breath, that is.
Thanks a bunch ! ! !

Hilarious. What a great and new twist on the Vampire Genre. Fred manages to bumble his nerdy self thru life as a vampire without any kind of instruction manual (which for a guy like fred is just impossible!
Highly recommend this book Can't wait to read the next one. It's terrific.

The main character a stuffy, friendly, vampiric accountant gets thrown out of his comfort zone and into fights with werewolves, zombies, acid spewing mushrooms and more. I really enjoyed the story of a homebody vampire who gets sucked into other supernatural beings problems because he can't say no.

Told as an episodic sequence of short stories, I found it to be a fun read. In some ways, it's a pretty standard Urban Fantasy environment. But the non-heroic nature of the main character lifts the material above the source material. It's a fun read. I'm looking forward to seeing where they go from here.

Just a good, funny read with great characters that you look forward to reading more about. The events that develop the characters are well described and move along smartly. Will continue to read about Fred and his para human crew.

It's not what I expect. The stories are adventures and funny, and the characters are quirky and aren't your typical paranormal. Mushrooms that spit acid, Zombies that need a job to stay alive and were animal that turns into a small horse.

I have never read anything quite like this book, and I enjoyed it immensely. Fred the milquetoast accountant is an admirable action hero who would never claim that title in a million years, and he and his clan of unusual misfits are a delightful cast of characters. Readers should be aware going in that there is quite a bit of swearing, but other than that, I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for something unusual.

I heartily enjoyed this book as a lovingly crafted work of wit, action and fantasy. I found it completely enjoyable and refreshing, and I have already recommended it to others. It's been a while since I laughed out loud at a book! High five and thank you, Mr. Hayes!

Fred the Vampire accountant - how could I resist that title? I thought it would be like The Tome of Bill (Rick Gualtieri) but I was very pleasantly surprised. I hope Mr Hayes decides to continue Fred's story. All us 'utterly uninteresting and unadventurous' people need someone to speak for us too. I'm off to purchase more Drew Hayes books

Hilarious. Droll. Understated.

I loved it. Snickered all the way through.

He writes well with tongue in cheek. The story held up for the most part. If you like paranormal with humor you will like this book. I'm going to read the next one in the series soon.

This book was so ridiculous and fun. Take everything you think about vampires then think of the complete opposite and you have poor Fred. He makes such a great character and is so unassuming, you can't help but laugh at the shenanigans he ends up getting into.

Great book, plenty of action, humor and surprises! The only problem I have with it is that it's too engaging, so I intend to read a chapter or two and then it's dawn...
I also follow the author's web serials online, awesome work!
