John Ortberg writes well. This was an interesting book. I purchased it for a Bible study.
I didn't not get far in the book and did not stay in this particular study. This book attempts to give you the feeling that Jesus was a *man* and did things like we do while he was here. It totally and completely says that Jesus is GOD who came to us as man. It does stick to the Christian doctrine completely. But John wants you to feel Jesus as being a human, like we are, to understand that we can do much of the same things He did when he was here. We can become like Jesus. We need to realize that he was our example. We should follow Him and do as he did. Don't do drugs.

Sometimes we lose sight of the huge impact of Jesus on our world. This books reminds us that Christianity is responsible for the creation of orphanages, hospitals, universities and more. It was the first to promote the rights of women and protect female children from murder. Even if you don't believe that Jesus was/is God in human form, you'll have to agree that He changed the world like no other person has ever done.

Extremely well written for the edification of both faithful christians as well as those lacking strong beliefs.

I was remninded of Nickie Gumble's Alpha program wherein questions about Jesus are more fully explained in mondern day vernacular. I plan to reread Ortberg's book and discuss it with my bible study group.

Please assign a top rating for this most informative book.

I just finished reading this book. I loved it. When Ortberg says anti-intellectualism is anti-Christian, I said "Amen!" God gave human beings the ability to reason. God gave us a mind. If I want to read a person of another faith or someone with no faith, I am fine, for if that person is speaking to a greater truth, I have no reason to dismiss them. God is truth. Wow! I want to give this book to the people at a fundamentalist church where I was once a former member. This book really looks at the lasting impact of Jesus on humanity. Jesus in inclusive not exclusive. Our first obligation as Christians is to love. We must love all people.

The author lays out, in an organized manner, the impact Jesus has had on our world: Education, charity, women, art, etc. it has challenged my thinking in several areas as it examines the influence Jesus had and still has. This book needs to be read a chapter at a time, then one needs to think about and digest what was said.
Very well written and done in a scholarly manner.

Very impressive! So much information in this book that I've never even thought of in regards to Jesus' life and impact! A very thorough look into the man behind the movement. Really shows the difference between what Jesus said/did and what religion says about him.

Pastor Ortberg does an amazing job of reminding us of all the impacts Jesus has had on our culture from the short years he lived all the way to modern day society. This book was very inspiring to my faith...like armor in my heart to reinforce what it already knows...that Jesus is the Lord and the most transformational person who ever stepped foot on earth. Whether a history fan or follower of Jesus I believe this book will be very hard for anybody to put down.

Outstanding (and humorous) survey of the impact of Jesus Christ on all phases of human history and civilization. I found myself both captivated by Ortberg's insights and laughing out loud at his observations of our human foibles. This is a perfect gift to someone honestly seeking an answer to the question, "Who is this Jesus?"

John Ortburg has done both believers and skeptics great service to detail the enormous impact Jesus has made on the world. If you're uncertain what to make of Jesus, do yourself a favor and read this book.

John Ortberg spells out the impact of the life of Jesus not only on the religious institutions of history and today, but shows the influence of Christ and Christians on many of the institutions we have come to accept as "normal"

I dare skeptics of Christianity or agnostics to give this book an honest reading. Ortberg has assembled ample evidence that the God who created all has ordered all of history around the person of Jesus. Remarkably comprehensive work!

So many books have been written on this subject. Yet Ortberg gave many new insights in words that inspire. He put words together in ways that causes one to quote his text. Well written and one you must finish before setting aside.

This is an inspirational work written by a man of God. John Ortberg shows us a way to enrich our own lives by emulating that of Jesus. It will illuminate any dark corners of one's soul and will add to your knowledge of this humble, courageous and brilliant leader.
I have written of Jesus myself, but from a lay perspective, and I have learned a lot from this book.

From embracing forgiveness to encouraging the pursuit of science, Ortberg gives his readers food for thought in his book " Who Is This Man?" He boldly challenges the status-quo, and asks Christians to delve more deeply into the life and intent of the Son of God.

Interesting and informative. Made me think and realize of the impact Christ had on every facet of modern day life that we now take for granted from the smallest detail to the " what would we do without this in our lives". excellent excellent book every human should read it.

I read EVERYTHING John Ortberg writes. This book is second only to the Bible to inspire me to love Jesus more. I was moved to tears, laughter and conviction. A truly inspired work. I recommend it to the devoted follower of Christ and the skeptical unbeliever. Thanks for writing this John!

Religious or not you will be fascinated by the impact this one man had on earthly things over the last 2000 years, as well as, our lives today. Easy to read, short, and well written this book points out many of the positive things in this world that resulted from this mans life on earth most of which I never knew or considered.

John Ortberg has knocked this one out of the park! It is true, if you live in the United States, or other countries of the free World you are touched by the impact of Jesus on your life. You don't have to be a Christian to see how He changed the thinking in that world in which He taught and the free World we have today. He stressed equality for women, recognition of children, education for the poor and being the best human beings we can be.

Whatever your relationship with God, you should read this book to discover how this man has and is changing the World.
