CLASSIC KLEYPAS!!!

Can you tell I was excited?!

We had our first glimpse of Rhys Winterborne in Cold Hearted Rake and can we say yum! Tall, broad shouldered, thick black hair, Welsh, owns the biggest department store..where can I sign up because I'm totally up for drooling over this guy! Aside from the brawn though, Rhys is intelligent, sweet, definitely been around the block in the bedroom, a heck of a business negotiator, and he can charm the panties off women-young and old..(can you tell this list can go on and on?)

Now for his intended...Helen isn't a demure, retiring miss. She has brains and beauty and the more she comes out of her quiet persona..well, let's just say she's no one's doormat. The opening of the book has Helen throwing caution to the wind to have Rhys reinstate their engagement-just think awkward, sweet, and sexy for their first time together-but what follows is a superb love story full of fun, secrets, tears, and surprises.

MW is truly one of Kleypas's hottest books to date (and I've been reading her since the late 1990's) If one could start a fire with the chemistry Rhys and Helen had, we'd have a furious bonfire going on! These two are perfect together..I mean seriously perfect.. they're keeping company with Evie and Sebastian and Sara and Derek Craven as one of my favorite Kleypas couples!

It's obvious there's been research. The attention to detail given to the foods, the clothes, the department store-it all stands out and creates a gorgeous backdrop to what would seem to be a most unlikely couple..but some of Lisa's best characters are her most unconventional ones and Rhys and Helen completely fit the bill!

Marrying Winterborne is classic Kleypas! Everything we've come to love from her is wrapped up in this gorgeous little gem..definitely one for my keeper shelf!

I have always enjoyed Kleypas, but this series is now a favorite. There isn't so much a mystery as obstacles in Relationships. While often some romance stories are weak without a bigger mystery or other storyline, this is so well done and interesting the mini mysteries and discoveries of Victorian London are enthralling!

Good to read a good Lisa Kleypas book again! Liked this much better than the first book of this series. I was divided by the reviews as the purchase this second book, but am glad that I did. I could not put it down. This is written from Helen's side of the story more than Rhys. Always love the bad guys though! Great opening for future books to this series for the characters she presented to us. Just hope that the other books will be just as interesting as this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I had missed Ms Kleypas regency novels. I have read all of her previous regency novels and enjoyed them too. The characters are likable. The plot is reasonable and the love described between the two lead characters is refreshing and enviable.

And his name is Winterborne! Fantastic book. It made me laugh and cry as all the best books do, it also made me swoon. Helen was shy but strong and matched with her Rhys... What a fantastic couple. Kleypas is back with a vengeance and I can't wait for her next book!❤️

I had pre-ordered the book and completely forgot that I had done so, but the email notification from the store was a pleasant surprise. Needless to say, I finished it in one night (or night to morning) and can't wait to see what Lisa Kleypas has next!

Helen and Winterborne are both such well developed characters that you can't help but fall in love with them!

I really don't read historical romance anymore..I haven't in a good 10 years. Maybe one every now and then and I do reread some old favs..most of them being hers!!
I love her characters and love how her writing puts me in that time completely! I saw several prospects for new books!! can't wait :)
This book was a good one!

Good, some interesting twists in the plot that make this story a bit diffrent form other novels of the same author. The story goes back in time to tell us what was Helen's life before, when she was a child, which is sometheng you don't imagine when you read the previous book. I liked Helen because she was much stronger than anyone thought, including Rhys. But I won't tell anymore, you have to read it.In contrast, Rhyse character and background is not so developed, Nevertheless, it is a good story, even better than the first one of this series.

I just loved it. As per usual, Lisa Kleypas delivers a compelling story with wonderful characters. I really enjoyed the verbal interchange and storyline. I didn't put this down until I had read the whole book. Thank you Lisa Kleypas!

I will not spoil anything, except to say the story was beautiful and heartwarming. Like drinking a glass of great coffee, it was exhilarating from start to finish. My only complaints are one, that I felt Ms.Kleypas had more to say, and that the story was kinda short. Maybe it was just me...but I really wanted the story to never end and see more the developing characters. Not to say that Rhys and Helen were not fascinating, because they were. But I think that means she did a great job because now I find myself uncomfortable with abundant joy but squirming because I have to wait another year!

Second, I feel I've read this story before. It really didn't shake me off, at all really. Again, Ms. Kleypas tells a much better story than both but this doesn't have that dynamic element of surprise that I feel is part of her storytelling. As always, Kleypas writing and voice are wonderful, I feel it took a more energetic note compared to Rake. I'm getting the print books for my friends this Summer, they will be delighted.

Personal note: I was introduced to Kleypas' work by two bookish girls in high school, as a sophomore, who were squealing with delight in the middle of English class during a lecture on Anne Bradstreet. One of them had opened her bag to discover Devil in the Winter wrapped in giftwrap, courtesy of her mother. It had recently come out and her reaction was sublime; My friend couldn't contain her joy, nor did the other one, and suddenly both grabbed the book and behaved like Tom Cruise on Oprah. In front of 22 other kids mind you. I was just sitting there like an idiot, aghast, but curious, I asked them what the fuss was about. I kid you not, it was like the room went dark and a spotlight was cast on me; I was the quiet girl in class, very shy and kept to myself. Barely spoke a word to anyone, ever. Awkward silence followed, most classmates balked at us, and someone even yelled, "she speaks!". The girls didn't know what to make of my intrusion but then decided to ring me into what was happening...By the end of the day, I was given Suddenly You and yapped for longer than I ever had since I first arrived in this country. That was the start of a great stage in my life, which gifted me great friends plus more friends and their families. Helped me fight depression on and helped me see life through rose colored glasses. Now seven years forward, I look back on that moment fondly, for it forever changed my life for the better. It provided me with an escape and positivity I desperately needed, growing up in a broken home. I introduced my mom to the Spanish versions and she loves them too. Many in my circle are big fans to say the least. Thank you Ms. Kleypas for your writing, you're beyond compare.

Great story. My only complait is that I wish there was more scenes between the Helen and Rhys so we could have seen how they learn from each other and evolve as characters. I feel there were too many extra things and characters which were unnecessary. For instance why did Dr Gibson turn up out of nowhere. It made no sense.

I absolutely love Rhys and Helen! She was so sweet but willing to stand up for herself and Rhys was head over heels in love with her. All of the characters were fascinating. The twins are hilarious and so is West. I can't wait for his story.

Lisa Kleypas has written another winner! Rhys Winterborne has created a huge department store and is one of the wealthiest men in England. Lady Helen is from a distinguished family that has not known wealth until recently. A beautiful love story that leaves you wanting for more!!!

Lisa Kleypas never disappoints. This story provides both a great plot and characters who entertain, surprise, amuse and who seem real and genuine. Interesting to read of the social conditions of the time as well.

Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite authors. This is the 2nd in a series. The 1st did not appear up to her normal standards but book 2 is right on track. Now I am impatiently waiting for book 3. Lots of laughs and lots of historical content. Great characters! Especially the twins

A wonderful story from Lisa Kleypas. If you've loved her writing in her other historical novels this one won't disappoint. The book is a 'keeper' and one that I know I will reread. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this new series.

This was the perfect historical romance novel for me. I couldn't seem to put it down! Wonderful mix of strong, sexy Welsh hero and a sweet, but strong heroine. Storyline was interesting and it also had the right mix of humor to it! Loved the secondary characters. Best book of the year for me!

Marrying Winterborne is the second book in The Ravenels and Helen and Rhys meet and begin their relationship in that book so I don't recommend reading this book as a stand alone. I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first book in the series. Both Helen and Rhys were wonderful characters who brought out the best in each other. They had a great chemistry and a fun relationship. Helen who at first comes across as a timid character shows that she has strong will when it comes to things that matter the most to her. Rhys is a very interesting character with several sides to him. He is a ruthless businessman, a man used to getting whatever he wants, a man who is a bit unsure of himself when it comes to the top echelon of society and wants to be admitted to it and a sweet and tender lover to Helen.

It's clear from the beginning of this book that both Rhys and Helen are besotted with each other. Of course there has to be some drama in the story and that comes along with a secret that Helen is keeping. While I'm not crazy about this plot line it worked with this story and I understood why Helen didn't wish to tell Rhys her secret. Thankfully, the deception didn't drag on too long and I adored the way that Rhys handled the situation once he became aware of it.

A very entertaining book that left me looking forward to the next one in the series.

Lisa, you will always be my favorite author.
This wonderful story was especially perfect. I talk about your books so much that I find myself blindly recommending them.

I love Lisa's writing style. She always writes so descriptively that you can almost the scene in your mind. Great story! Thought the ending wrapped up too fast ; left me wondering & with a few questions. Still was a very engaging story!!

a very engaging read. the relationship between rheys and helen was developed very fully, though it helps if you have read the previous book to see how their relationship started. the pace of the book kept me reading late into the night. the only complaint I have is that the next book doesn't come out soon enough!

I absolutely LOVED Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas. I had no sooner finished reading it than I reread it once more. I was riveted by the growing romance between Helen and Rhys and loved watching them both overcome huge obstacles from beginning to end. To see the way their love blossomed and then grew throughout the story was mesmerizing. I cannot wait for the twins story, not only to see what happens with them but also to hear what is happening with Helen and Rhys!

I liked the story and plot. The characters were interesting. I found that Winterborne was a bit high handed but I guess that goes with the time as men were perceived as superior. Again, with the era. Looking forward to the next book.

Reread the first book in this series, then enjoyed the second book even more. It's nice to read a story where the main characters are attracted to each other and love one another without the typical conflict that feels like a waste of time, knowing they are going to eventually succumb to the inevitable.

Kleypas has returned to the historical genre with a vengance. This is actually better than the prequal in my opinion. The characters are still ridiculous and the plot is unrealistic but I found this to be a highly entertaining read.

This will not be a detailed literary critique since I read the book as soon as it was released at midnight, while under the heavy influence of Advil.

It's a much better book than the first one. But you'd have to read that one because that's where our couple meets, gets engaged and breaks up. Yes, the most beautiful part of their story is in the last book.

Still, Rhys is wonderful. I wish more of his life and his background was explored. Helen wasn't written consistently. At first she was so sheltered and delicate that it took Rhys several chapters just to explain sex to her and get her through their first time. Seriously, how long was that scene? Then suddenly she's this strong woman who stands up to powerful men, gets her voice heard, and takes action to handle things. I didn't fully buy the transformation. But she was still a kind person, so I didn't mind her getting her happy ending.

I skimmed through all scenes with the Ravenels, especially Devon and Katherine. Their existence continues to annoy me. But there's hope for the twins. Someone was trying to teach them some manners. And one of them shows promise of becoming an enterprising young lady. We shall see.

All in all, we're heading in the right direction with this series. And wait til you see who's in the preview for the next book! Beloved characters from a previous book made an appearance and I squealed a bit. Cannot wait!!!

Ps, this book was a purchase, not an exchange for a review. I keep buying them, hoping to find another Jack Travis, Simon Hunt, St Vincent, McKenna. The last few books have been crap, but this one was worth it.

Would have like to read more about Devon, Kathleen and West. The story about West’s part disappeared too abruptly from the story line. Mr Vance could have left the story in a duel for the type of abusive person he was.

Loved, Loved, loved it. Rhys Winterborne was a pretty romantic character, a bit obsessive but after reading all the Lisa Kleypas books he is one of my new favorite heroes. I tried taking my time reading but Lisa is one of those authors that pull you in and I just can't put her books down. One of my favorite books.

I loved Lisa Kleypas second book of the Ravenel Series. Can't wait for the next one, which is supposed to incorporate Evie and Sebastian's son (Wallflower Series) with Pandora Ravenel. Love Lisa Kleypas every since reading Again the Magic.

The series of the Raveneal family is wonderful. The characters alone deserve a five star rating. But Lisa Kleypas is a wonderful author and I would recommend her to anyone who loves historical romance with a lot of spice.

You could find me chuckling, at the restaurant, in the car (thank heaven my H was driving), at the drug store, back in the car - tearing up at various places as the day moved on. This Book was just plain DELISH! I gobble up books constantly and this was the most enjoyable one that I have read in ages (or since the last Grace Burrows book I read).

One of her best! I loved everything about it. The characters were all diverse and interesting, the plot had enough twists to keep you engaged and the ending was detailed and very satisfying. I really wish I could marry this man!
