I love how this one took a completely different route than I was expecting.. Defiantly nothing like what I thought it was going to be. It was amazing to imagine all those different life times up close and personal through Luce's eyes!!!

Perhaps I just love angst too much, but this book just seemed to lack anything to really pull me in. I wasn't sucked into the beautiful literary world like I had been with Fallen.

Luce drove me bonkers with her constant need to ignore anything anyone did to protect her. I read a lot of young adult fiction, but her character is this book made some of the most childish decisions I've ever read. She couldn't last 18 days laying low while people worked to protect her from things that wanted to kill her? Perhaps they should have just let the bad guys get her--survival of the fittest. She is obviously too stupid to survive without being babysat.

Also, what was up with the Miles thing? I mean she feels this intense magnetic attraction to Daniel, but is just cool with kissing other boys? I don't know about anyone else, but that was a HUGE turn off to Luce as a character. I could handle the stupidity and running off, but kissing someone else while your boyfriend is out there fighting desperately to save your life? Not cool. I think at the end of the day you are just a big, unlikable jerk. Its one this to ask Daniel for time to sort out what she is feeling, but that isn't what she did. She cheated on her boyfriend with another boy and she doesn't deserve either of them in my opinion.

The book was dry, it never felt like anything was really happening. Even the end was so fast, you couldn't relish a final epic battle.

I really enjoyed Fallen and liked Luce and understood some of her stupid decisions and thought that she was well written for a teenager who was finding out the insane things she was finding out. This book just did not live up to the first. I'm not sure if I will be able to pick up the third--that is how much I dislike Luce right now.

I randomly picked up fallen hardly knowing what it was about and without knowing the author I was a little nervous about it. I loved it. I read and finnished the book in less than a week. Then I found this one. It started off slow but now I CAN'T put it down!!!!! I have FALLEN (ha ha) in love with this series and I can't wait for her 3rd book to come out. I bought her other one The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove but I didn't start it yet. Lauren Kate is now my favorite author. Many people say it but I actually mean it. I can't wait for more from her. BEST 9 DOLLARS AND 99 CENTS I'VE EVER SPENT!!!!!!!! GREAT BUY I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!

This series is great if you are looking for something that has more substance than just 'kiss me baby oh yeah'. From the description of surroundings, to character development, to the plot moving along at a good speed, this book series is great. Ordered, used the store prime, very happy. :)

I read 'Fallen' and 'Torment' within the span of a few days and I will have to say that I enjoyed them equally. Without any spoilers I will say that I really loved the characters in this book, in addition to the last. Later in the story, the developed character traits really shine.

If you liked the first, please continue with the second. I feel that the reviewers who disliked this book, as opposed to the first, were looking for answers to their questions instead of letting the story unfold in its own way. Be patient. :]

In this book Luce Price is brought to Shoreline to protect her from the outcasts that are after her. She is placed with the Nephilims who are the children of one mortal and an angel. The Nephilims do have special powers. The Nephilims are being taught by Francesca and Steve. Luce has been placed in the Nephilim program as the fallen angels feel she will be safe under protection from Francesca another angel. Steve her partner is a demon and both are teachers in the Nephilim program. During her time at Shoreline Luce learns about the shadows who she calls up. The shadows are portals to her past and she learns that they can be manipulated to travel back in time. Luce learns about her mysterious past lives but the more she learns the more she wonders if Daniel and Luce should really be together and the more she suspects that Daniel is trying to hide something from her. Although I did not enjoy this book as much as Fallen it is part of the series and you need to read it before continuing on to Passion.

This book has seriously changed my opinion about sequels. This story seems to get more scandalous, mysterious, and adventurous with every passing moment this story goes on. I just can't wait to read the next one.

The story was well written, but the main character drove me nuts. Lucinda Price is just the kind of woman that I cannot stand. She's a brat, clueless, naive, does all the wrong things, and her male counterpart Daniel is just as annoying as her. Their love story makes no sense. I enjoyed the supporting characters a lot though. They made me laugh, and gave life to a story that was otherwise very dull and boring. I love good love stories, but this one left me frustrated, and hungry for something more realistic. There was a lot of tell and not show, and overall, my reaction was - no way I'm reading another book in this series.
