M/F Romance
Triggers: Hoarding, Stalking, Domestic Abuse, Attempted Murder
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is the second story in this series and I would recommend reading the first one, as there are a lot of repeat characters. While I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary, I would strongly recommend it.

This is Maverick and Alexa's story. They have a lot of history between them. Both have suffered an enormous loss in Alexa's brother. What's left is a couple who need to learn to navigate through grief and preconceived notions.

Maverick loved Alexa once - she was his everything. When they were no more, he threw himself in to his MC club and work. He knew that he would never forget Alexa. Despite the drama that the club is experiencing, when he sees Alexa in trouble, his protective instincts gear up and he's ready to protect her with everything that he is. I thought that Maverick was a great character. He was rough around the edges, but really only to those who didn't know him. The more I read about him, the more I really liked him.

Alexa is in a bad situation and finds herself running to the one person she always felt safe with - Maverick. Alexa's life is kind of a mess when she gets reacquainted with Maverick, but she also allows herself to use her heart rather than her head. She knows that she's always loved Maverick, but fear and doubt were allowed to rule her for a while.

These two have explosive chemistry, but both also know how to be tender with each other. I loved their relationship and getting to see if move beyond the more teenager type love in to a more adult love. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

This is book 2 in the Raven Riders MC Book. And like the previous book I enjoyed this one just as much.
The Raven Riders are a MC Club who does all the usual MC stuff, but they are also a MC Club that helps abused women and children escape their abusers and helping them to a better life.

This book was about Maverick and Alexa who were childhood friends and then their relationship turned more serious when they fell inlove. But as well as being Alexa's friend Maverick was also her brothers Best Friend. But then her brother died in a motorcycle accident and as well as having a mother who is a hoarder and taking care of her she wanted something stable in her life. And she felt like Maverick couldn't give her that and they broke up.

Fast forward 5years and she's dating Mr Dependable rich and handsome Grant. But Grant has a different side to him. Even though he doesn't put his hands on Alexa, he is still a manipulating controlling abusive Male.
So after an incident where Alexa got hurt, she ran to the only place that she feels safe and protected, Maverick

Maverick is convinced that Alexa is being abused, even though she doesn't know it. And he will protect her even if she tells him to stay away and leave her alone. He will do anything to keep her safe and make sure she has someone and somewhere she feels safe.

“You saved me tonight.”
“No,” he said, eyes flashing, one brow arched. “You saved yourself, Al. I was just your getaway driver."

I loved this book. Maverick was an awesome character. I loved how he looked after Alexa even though she didn't want him to. He kept his distance and kept watch over her. Alexa was awesome. Once she admitted to herself that she needed to get out, she did what she needed to keep herself safe.

"Just you and me against the world."

An awesome series that will get you hooked and keep you addicted. I can't wait for the Slider and Cora's story... (I hope)

Maverick Rylan is Dare’s cousin, Bunny’s son and all around awesome guy. He’s protective, fiercely loyal and hot as hell. He’s also very much worried about his ex-girlfriend, Alexa Harmon.

Alexa’s brother Tyler was a prospect with the Raven Riders years ago and had died in a horrible motorcycle accident. He was also Maverick’s best friend. After Tyler died, Alexa felt the need to distance herself from Maverick, to focus on taking care of her troubled mother (who’s a hoarder).

Alexa is also in an abusive relationship with Grant Slater, a big shot millionaire that wants the Riders’ property for his real-estate projects. When things get a step too far (in my opinion, it’s miles too far), she escapes him and runs to Maverick for help. That’s where their second chance at love begin.

I adore how in every book Kaye writes there’s a point. Some sort of an issue that has to be dealt with, and usually it’s a manifestation of some kind of trauma. Domestic abuse is so common and too widely ignored, or more accurately not receiving the deserved attention, and these subtle ways of bringing it to the attention of the public is amazing.

In Ride Rough Kaye actually presents two horrible situations. The first is hoarding, the reasoning behind it and the dangers hoarders put themselves in. I loved that it was brought up as I’ve never read anything dealing with it. The second is the abuse.

Both are tied together in a roundabout way; Alexa ignored all the signs of the abuse in an unconscious way to keep her troubled mother from being homeless and help her be as stable as possible.

Ride Rough is a wild ride. It’s a beautifully written second chance romance, packed with sexiness, wit, humor, emotion and a lot of fierce loyalty and love. It’s a perfect read that started my reading month on a very very good note.

Ride Rough by Laura Kaye is the second installment in the Raven Riders MC Series.
Ride Rough can be read as stand-alone,'for better understanding I recommend to read Ride Hard book one, first.
Meet Alexa Harmon, she thinks she has it all. a great job, a charming fiancé. But her life turns into a nightmare.
Maverick Rylan is the VP of the Raven Riders and Alexa's ex. When he learns that she is in danger he doesn't hesitate to come to her rescue.
This book has it all, a strong hero, a loving heroine, great feelings, drama and more drama, danger, hurt, pain and love- a love so deep- it was heart wrenchingly to read this.
I loved the characters, I could feel their emotions in the words.
There are twists and turns I never had expected.
I really, really loved this book and rate 5 Stars.
I can't wait till Ride Wild, book three in this series releases.
Thank you Laura Kaye !

This is Book Two in the Raven Riders Series which is an offshoot of the Hard Ink Series by Ms. Kaye. With each book I fall more and more in love with this MC. This is Alexa and Maverick’s story and these two have quite the history. Maverick and her brother Tyler grew up together and were best friends and did everything together, including joining the Raven Riders. Alexa and Maverick always had a connection but as she grew up their feelings for each other become so much more…until a tragedy that ripped her apart.

With this occurrence Alexa changes directions in her life and turns to Grant Slater who is a really big deal in the Western Maryland town they all live in. Over the course of their relationship, Alexa changes in so many ways and when this book opens my heart dropped to my stomach with the urgency of Ms. Kaye’s words and the feelings that accompany this very first scene. I just knew I was going to be in for a wild and bumpy ride with Alexa and I was spot on!!

We also see Maverick for the first time in the beginning of the book and I could feel his love for her already. The fact that we see him when we do, proves that even though they’re no longer lovers, doesn’t mean the feelings aren’t still there. And let me just mention that I do NOT like Grant Slater. He’s an egotistical man that thinks everything should be his way and when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING. I just wanted to punch him out myself!

Once Alexa and Maverick start spending more time together again, because it’s a necessity, which again had my heart hurting for this beautiful, intelligent and caring woman. She takes care of her mother who has some issues that I just don’t think I could deal with, and a job that she hopes will lead her down a path of providing for her and her mother without reliance on Grant. But I digress, these two have chemistry coming out of their pores and when they start to explore what could’ve been and what should be, we learn the depth of Maverick’s feelings for Al…

“I never wanted to let you go in the first place.”

Oh be-still my heart. The connection between Mav and Al is so deep and filled with so much emotion that I routed for them throughout the entire book. Especially when things start to happen or not happen for the Raven Riders. There’s so much drama that we get to see the inner workings for the MC from several viewpoints which I loved. These men are truly brothers and will do anything for each other even if they don’t agree with some of the requests. That’s the beauty of Ms. Kaye’s writing. She gives us tremendous character development and plot details that we actually feel like we’re sitting at the table having dinner with this rowdy bunch of guys and their girls!!

As the story continues to move, we see what is really at stake for our H/h. Not only the livelihood of the MC, but their lives as well. The emotions continue to grow for them. But this time they’ve both grown and matured and the love they’re experiencing now is completely different from five years ago as Al so emotionally tells Mav….

“You’re a good man, Maverick Rylan. Better than I gave you credit for. But I see you now.”

At this point we’re moving to a stunning set of circumstances that brings everything full circle for these two. Their physical connection is HOTTER THAN EVER!!! Talk about needing to fan myself!!! There are so many involved people from Dare and Haven, to Jagger and Phoenix and even our Hard Ink boys. Things are moving rapid pace including how our H/h finally start to find their forever…

“Love heals. Love puts back together things that were broken before. Which is what you’ve done for me….I don’t want to be anywhere else but with you. No matter what.”

In conclusion, this book has moved its way to the top of my favorites list not only by Ms. Kaye, but overall. I’m so excited to see what’s next for the Raven Riders because we get Slider’s story next and it’s going to be SO GOOD!!!!

P.S. Alexa's cat Lucy is a girl that can't be compared to any other...you'll LOVE her!!

Our story starts out with Maverick (lets just all swoon). I mean come on, you know the guy is going to be all that with the name Maverick. Okay back to the review. Maverick is the VP of the Raven Riders, a MC who are not only outlaws but outlaws with big hearts. While the town turns a blind eye on some of their tactics, one person doesn't....Grant Sanders. Not only is he a total tool but he is engaged to Mavericks girl. Well she was his girl 5 years ago but when he couldn't promise he stability, Alexa left. But now she is back, however broken and bruised by the guy she ran to.

Alexa always wanted a normal life but having baggage was something she tried her hardest to overcome. It was just the four of them, Alexia, her mom, brother and maverick to face the world. But when her brother dies in a tragic motorcycle accident, Alexa must make a choice. However after years of suffering from her decision, she is forced to run back to her knight in shinny leather. Yes she is engaged to another man, but one can only be verbally abused for so long. And when Grants starts to get physical with her, Alexa soon realizes that she made the wrong choice. She can do this, she can walk away. Can she? Grant has isolated her from everyone. However who knew that sometimes the ghost of your past can step into the light and become your saving grace.

Throughout the story we learn the struggles both Maverick and Alexa must face if both of them want to come out this on the better end. Lines are crossed, confessions are made and sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone.

Ride Rough is the second book in Laura Kaye's Raven Rider's MC Series and can be read as a stand alone. Please know that I did not read the first book in the series but I am familiar with Laura's writing skills and I was excited when I saw something of hers on my review list. The characters were written fantastically. Maverick was the ultimate Alpha who knew what to say and do. However at a few parts I found him to be a bit too sweet but then on the next page he totally surprises you. A few times I wanted to scream at Alexa to just wake the "F" up, see what you have in front of you but then if she did the book would only last a few chapters. The supporting characters were well written and provided much support for our main hero and heroine. Well done Laura. l am purchasing the first book in the series just to see what good stuff I missed.

Ride Rough by Laura Kaye takes 1 part second chance romance, 1 part MC club, a dash of crazy exes and delivers pure reading bliss!

Why have I not read this series yet? Bigger question? Why have I not read Laura Kaye yet!? Why hasn't someone told me???? Ride Rough was super swoony and filled with bad ass bikers with unique stories that kept me reading well into the night!

For whatever reason, I am really drawn to plots with domestic abuse survivors. I can't explain why, but I am always clamoring for stories about women who preserve and thrive post abuse. My fear is always that there will be a lot of back and forth between the victim and the abuser and thankfully, Alexa isn't like that. She seeks help once, then goes back, but by the 2nd time, she is done. And even better, she is honest with the people in her life. She doesn't try to be the hero and 'save' everyone by sacrificing herself. I have never thought that was brave of people because its just not brave or noble. So, thankfully, even though Alexa's ex keeps causing problems and she does feel that she has brought trouble to their door, she doesn't allow herself to give in to Grant's demands to come back just to save Maverick and his brothers the trouble.

Maverick and Alexa's story is also a second chance story. They were in love 5 years ago, but when Alexa's brother dies suddenly, her world goes into a tailspin and she pushes Maverick away. He doesn't fight for her and they spend 5 years apart. Both have regrets about their actions and both are understandable so it didn't make me angry at either of them!

The plot of Ride Rough vacillates between the rebuilding romance of Mav and Alexa and the issues Grant (the ex) keeps sending their way. I thought the story struck a good balance between the rebuilding romance and the ex. If the story had been non stop problems from Grant that needed attention, it would have been harder to believe that Mav and Alexa were really falling back in love. However, Kaye does a wonderful job of balancing the 2 and as a reader, you really can feel the love between Mav and Alexa repairing and growing. The issues Grant causes provide some suspense without disrupting the love story unfolding.

Alexa's family life is a bit of a wreck as well. She grew up dirt poor and has always promised herself she would find stability as an adult. Her brother's death was crushing, and her mom's mental illness has taken a toll on Alexa, who, without her brother, has to bear the burden on her own. All of this helped the reader truly understand Alexa's actions and decisions and made her a very relatable character. You don't have to have a family member with a mental illness to be able understand the complexities of Alexa's life.

If you are a fan of kick butt men who band together to do good in the world, you will love the Raven Riders. If you swoon for a second chance romance, Maverick and Alexa will have you fainting with delight! Ride Rough gave me the feels from a great romance and the suspense from a great plot that kept me reading so late, I fell asleep with my kindle!

“I thought I said you shouldn’t be keeping an eye on me?” Though she didn’t manage to put the heat behind the words she probably should have.
“I have a problem with listening,” he said with a smirk.
“No kidding.”

There’s just something about a good second chance love story that makes them so darn addicting and I have to say that Laura Kaye delivered a really great one with Maverick and Alexa! This second installment in the Raven Riders series was full of everything I’ve come to love from a Laura Kaye book, protective, alpha heroes and heroines that can more than hold their own against these guys, steam, brotherhood and danger. To me, the danger lurking in this book was far scarier this time around, I think, maybe, because it was so realistic and in those types of situations you just never know how things are going to go. Either way, it kept me on edge pretty much the entire time and I liked having that contrast to the sweet and steaminess of the love story that was playing out at the same time.

“You saved me tonight.”
“No,” he said, eyes flashing, one brow arched. “You saved yourself, Al. I was just your getaway driver.”

Five years ago, grief and confusion caused Alexa Harmon to push her first love Maverick Rylan away. Since that time she’s worked to build the kind of life she thought she always wanted, but when her seemingly perfect life starts to unravel and turn instead into a living nightmare, she turns to the only man she can think of for protection. When Alexa showed up on Mav’s doorstep again after all these years, a part of him that had been lying dormant for so long roared back to life and he knew that this time he would do whatever he had to do in order to protect her and keep her by his side. As the two begin to repair what went wrong five years earlier and start to look towards their future, they are faced with what might be their toughest fight yet to truly break Alexa free from her past.

This book picks up shortly after Ride Hard ends and if you read that book you might remember Alexa showing up at the Raven Riders’ clubhouse looking for help. It was alluded to in that book about the history between her and Maverick and in this book we get the rest of the story. The entire story is told present day, there are no flashbacks or anything, but I thought that Laura Kaye did an awesome job of establishing that history between them, I really got a sense for how much they loved each other and how hard it was for them when things ended several years earlier. Which made it all the better seeing those old feeling reignite and seeing how much each had grown in their time apart, which I think really helped lay the groundwork for the future they wanted to have together. I loved Maverick, he was protective and could be a little bossy but he was also so sweet and absolutely adored Alexa, even after everything they’d been through. I had no doubt that he would do absolutely anything for her. The kind of loyalty and love he had for her was really awesome. And Alexa was also great, she had a rough go of it and found herself in a nearly impossible situation but she didn’t let that get her down. She fought for what she wanted and she fought hard to get herself out. I really admired her strength in the face of all this. I think the thing I appreciated the most about these two was their open communication. There were no secrets or misunderstandings because they actually spoke and confided in one another and I really loved that the drama that occurred in this book was not a result of silly misunderstandings that could have easily been avoided. Pretty much from the get-go they put on a united front and that was probably one of my favorite things about this book!

"Just you and me against the world."

As with the first book in this series, I loved the brotherhood that the Raven Riders represent and I love their protective mission. Some of their actions may be questionable, but when it comes down to what really matters, they’ve got their priorities straight. This series still has the edginess and danger that you’d expect from an MC series, but it’s this little bit extra that makes it really stand out from the rest. I really enjoyed this story and I am really looking forward to the next installment, I think that one is going to be an emotional rollercoaster and I can’t wait!

“…I made so many mistakes. And pushing you away was the biggest of them all.”

Laura Kaye always writes such irresistible male leads and Maverick is no exception to that rule. He's a badass biker who is willing to bend the rules when he needs to along with the rest of his MC, the Raven Riders, but they put any profits they make towards helping women escape from dangerous situations so it's very hard to fault them for it. There is one woman in particular that Maverick is worried about right now though and that's his ex-girlfriend (and the only woman he has ever loved) Alexa. He knows Alexa is in a damaging relationship but she has to be willing to accept his help before he has any chance of rescuing her.

Alexa broke up with Maverick after her brother died, she was struggling with her own grief as well as trying to look after her emotionally unstable mother and she needed security that Maverick just couldn't provide. When she met Grant she thought he was everything she ever wanted but gradually over the years they've spent together he has slowly eroded her confidence and cut her off from her friends. Grant's controlling behaviour started so gradually that Alexa didn't even realise what was happening until it was too late and it's only when he starts becoming increasingly erratic and prone to violence that she realises that she's in deep trouble. She automatically turns to Maverick for help but Grant isn't going to let her go easily and they're going to need the help of all of the Raven Riders to keep Alexa safe.

I absolutely adore Maverick, he's that perfect alpha that's a little bossy and very protective but who doesn't push it too far. He is obviously head over heels for Alexa and he would do anything to keep her safe from harm. I loved that he puts Alexa's needs before his own, he goes out of his way to make sure she has everything she needs to feel comfortable and secure and he works with her to make sure her mother is taken care of too. We get some lovely bonding moments with him and the other Raven Riders and I really can't wait to get to know all of these characters better in future books. Alexa has been through a lot and it shows, she's been so beaten down by Grant that she has very little confidence but that quickly starts to change as Maverick helps build her back up again.

The chemistry between these two was off the charts and I think this was actually the hottest book in the Hard Ink / Raven Riders series so far. If I had one complaint it was that I felt things moved forward between Alexa and Maverick far too quickly, yes the sexy times were unbelievably hot but I would have found them more realistic if they'd waited a bit longer to give into temptation. Alexa has just come out of a 5 year relationship with a master manipulator who turned her into a shell of her old self, she was bound to be seriously messed up and I really would have loved to see her take a little time out to process her emotions and deal with things before she jumped into bed with Maverick. We do see her make a lot of progress by the end of the book but it felt a little like she was using Maverick as a crutch to help her cope rather than learning to stand on her own two feet, something that could have easily been avoided by holding off on their sexual relationship for a few weeks.

That didn't stop me enjoying the book though, Maverick is definitely my favourite Raven Rider so far (although I have high hopes for several of the others!) and I enjoyed seeing Alexa turn her life around. I also loved Alexa's pet cat Lucy who was utterly adorable. It was great to catch up with some of the characters we met in the previous books and I'm definitely excited about continuing the series. Laura Kaye never lets me down and is definitely an auto buy author for me.

Obsessed! Laura Kaye has me once again addicted to the men of The Raven Riders. How could I not when Laura Kaye continues to give readers like myself swoonworthy protective alpha heroes with heart. Yes, the Raven Riders are your completely different MC bikers. First, their personalities are a riot and secondly, they have this hard exterior but have this compassionate and protective nature that pulls you in. And let me just say, Maverick Rylan won me over big time.

"If she needed him, he’d be ready. That was all he knew. And for now, that would be enough.”

Ride Rough was sexy, raw, beautiful and emotional. This book hits you hard as Laura Kaye provided layers and layers of depth of vulnerability, second chances, love, passion, and new beginnings. She allowed readers to feel for her characters as they navigated through their feelings for one another.

Maverick Rylan is the VP of Raven Riders. His life revolves around his brothers, his family, the MC and most importantly Alexa Harmon. Alexa will and will always be the one woman who has owned his heart. Five years of separation could not extinguish the torch he has for her. And so when Maverick learns that Alexa is in trouble and is in an unhealthy emotional abusive relationship, Maverick will stop at nothing in protecting her.

Alexa Harmon walked away from Maverick when her brother died. Feeling lost, she wanted to start anew. A new life. Fast forward to the present, Alexa should be happy with the life that she has built. She is finishing up with school, has a job and a very wealthy fiance. But soon Alexa will realize that means nothing when you are not happy. When Alexa decided to end her engagement, she turned to the one man who has stood by the shadows patiently waiting for her. Maverick Rylan.

"And even though they lay there perfectly still, perfectly peaceful—at least for that one moment—Maverick realized that Alexa Harmon was the best f(bleep) ride of his life. And he never wanted it to end.”

Maverick and Alexa’s relationship can be summed up as magnetic. Their chemistry and love for each other was something that couldn’t be erased after several years of separation. The love Maverick has for Alexa runs so deep. He would do anything to make her happy and that could be said for Alexa as well. Seriously, their love was explosive. It was burning bright fueled by passion, love, truth, honesty, and vulnerability. But what happens when Alexa’s ex-fiance tries to destroy and controls Alexa’s life? Will Maverick be able to protect Alexa in time?

"Because underneath it all, Maverick had still been there. At the heart and soul of her. Waiting for her to see the truth. Waiting for her to feel it. Her truth.”

There is just something so organic in which Laura Kaye tells a story. She paces everything in a fluid manner and in such allows the readers to see and feel for her characters. Their flaws, strengths, and hopes. For Alexa Harmon, she is not your wallflower kind of heroine as she discovers that happiness is one call or in this case one ride away. As for Maverick Rylan, hearts will swoon for this hero. He was rough around the edges but a total sweetheart. So if you are looking for an MC story that beautifully blends raw emotions as the backbone of this book then Ride Rough is the book for you.

Maverick is the vice-president of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. The club protects vulnerable people who are having a hard time and one of the women Maverick is keeping an eye on is his ex girlfriend and the love of his life, Alexa. Her fiancé, Grant, is a rich businessman who's all about control. Alexa doesn't see what kind of man she's living with until she's about to marry him. Grant made sure she had everything she dreamed off, but his unpredictable behavior starts to scare her. Fortunately Maverick is there to help her out and Alexa discovers that she still has feelings for the man she left behind.

Grant doesn't want to let Alexa go and he will do everything in his power to make sure she will come back to him and become his wife, he wants to own her and isn't giving up. It doesn't mean anything to him that Alexa has broken up with him. Will Maverick be able to keep her safe and while doing so, does he have a second chance to convince her he loves her with all his heart and is the man she should be with?

Ride Rough is a gripping story about abuse, power games and true love. Alexa is a sweetheart. She lovingly cares for her mentally ill mother, she makes sure everyone around her is happy and she works hard for her future. I immediately liked her and it saddened me that she was engaged to such an awful calculated man. Grant is cruel and Alexa only discovers his true nature just before their wedding. Maverick has always kept an eye on her. He's kind to her, even though she broke his heart, and helps her to escape. Alexa never stopped loving him, but she went through something traumatic that made her leave him. She finally opens her eyes and realizes that Maverick is the man she should be with, but Grant isn't giving up. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see where that would lead and read Ride Rough in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.

Laura Kaye writes about abuse in a raw and honest way. She doesn't spare her main characters and her stories are very emotional. I love how deep she's willing to dig into the personalities she's writing about. The Raven Riders might be rough men, but they all have big hearts. They care about each other and about their women, but also about complete strangers in need of help. That's an admirable mentality and I love the Raven Riders series because of it.

Laura Kaye's vivid writing makes her story come to life very well. Her stories are sexy, romantic and emotional, which is a great combination. The Raven Riders regularly get into trouble. They're good men, but doing what they do doesn't make them popular with everyone and they have quite a few dangerous enemies. Grant is one of them and reading about their conflicts and his willingness to go far to bring them down kept me on the edge of my seat. Ride Rough is a terrific captivating story with an amazing scary ending.

A second chance romance from Laura Kaye? I was sold at second chance romance. And Laura Kaye. I’m a huge author and will read anything and everything she writes, especially when the subject matter is a motorcycle club full of do-gooder bikers who protect and respect women. *cue major swooning* Add in an action-packed, suspense-filled narrative and a love story that's both heartwarmingly sweet and deliciously sensual, and you have the makings of a must-read romance. Packed with enough drama, steam, and gut-wrenching angst to keep your heart racing from start to finish, Ride Rough is another riveting installment in the Raven Riders series.

One of the things I love most about a second chance romance is the history, the unresolved issues, and the lingering feelings between two protagonists. I love getting swept up in a swirl of emotions, getting lost in what was and what could be, and that’s exactly how I felt reading Ride Rough. Maverick Rylan and Alexa Harmon have a past – one that’s filled with both happiness and heartache, hope and despair. The same could be said of their present, which finds the two reuniting under troubling circumstances. As Vice President of the Raven Riders MC, Maverick is dealing with the fallout of events from the previous book, Ride Hard, while Alexa’s issues are of a more personal nature. Between club business and everything going on between Maverick and Alexa (romantic and otherwise), there’s certainly never a dull moment in the narrative, which is a perfect blend of action, suspense, and romance.

Despite outside forces are working against them, the connection between Alexa and Maverick is too palpable to ignore. They have an easygoing, familiar banter – flirty with an undercurrent of sexual tension – and off-the-charts chemistry. While Alexa is grappling with what she thinks she wants versus what she actually needs, Maverick is steadfast in his desire to win Alexa back. Maverick is fiercely protective and loyal. He's very much an Alpha male, but he's also kind and generous and caring. He provides strength and reassurance at a time when Alexa is most vulnerable, but he also knows when to give Alexa the chance to take control of her own life. Maverick is a knight in shining armor, albeit a bit rough around the edges, but that’s what makes his character so intriguing. Like Alexa, I found it impossible not to fall head over heels for Maverick, especially when he turned on the charm.

Ride Rough is a perfect example of why I'm addicted to Laura Kaye's writing. Not only is she a brilliant storyteller, capable of creating extensive casts of compelling characters, but the woman knows how to write a romance novel. Her heroes are sexy and swoon-worthy and her heroines are strong, intelligent, and sympathetic. With Ride Rough, Laura Kaye has written an unforgettable, hard-to-put-down love story about survival and the healing power of love. I held my breath. I said goodbye to any nails I had. I blushed. I cried. I didn’t want it to end, although the bonus novella at the end of the book was a good incentive for finishing. That, and the fact that Slider and Cora’s book releases later this year…

After being introduced to Alexa Harmon in Dare and Haven’s book and witnessing her trepidation with being in Maverick’s presence surrounded by his Raven Riders brothers, I knew the story behind her reemergence into Mav’s life as well as what they used to mean to each other would explain why Mav seemed hellbent on protecting her, even without her consent. To say that it was a rough ride five years ago when Alexa broke up with Mav, partly because he couldn’t give her what she needed and partly because her fears dominated her frame of mind, would be an understatement. What started out as a friendship blossomed into an undeniable connection between them and despite their years of separation and Alexa’s need to live a certain kind of life, it’s easy to see that they both made the wrong decision and now have a chance to make things right, even if their journey to a second chance is one filled with regret, guilt, fear, and anger.

Objectively speaking, it makes sense why Alexa couldn’t stay with Mav all those years ago; she wanted stability and certainty for her and her mother, and Mav didn’t step up and tell her he could give that to her, so she felt like her only option was to leave and not look back. But what she thought was trading up was actually only a façade – one that she convinced herself was real…one that she desperately held onto because it seemed to hold everything she had ever wanted, but when she finally faced the reality of her situation, she clearly saw that letting Maverick go was her first mistake and allowing her dreams to overshadow what she truly had just about destroyed her, both figuratively and literally.

It’s made clear, early on, that Mav and Al are meant to be together but the complications that arise from that fact is what makes their journey difficult because an outside force threatens to destroy their second chance before they even truly get started.

I adore second chance love stories, especially ones where both the hero and heroine figure out what went wrong, take the time to discuss their mistakes and then go about rectifying those errors, proving to the other person that the only right choice is to claim one another again, learning from their past and ensuring their future is everything they want it to be.

The rough ride that Laura Kaye takes Mav and Alexa on illustrates just how much strength and determination it takes to make a relationship – the right relationship – last. Both Mav and Alexa realize what prevented them from working things out all those years ago and with that new insight and the resolve to not allow themselves to fall back into old habits, holding on as they learn to take this rough ride of life together and having so much more than they could have ever dreamed they’d have.

The second book in the Raven Riders series is about Maverick and Alexa. They used to date until she left him hoping for a better and more stable life for her and her mother after the death of her brother. We get our first glimpse of Alexa in the first book when five years later, she’s knocking back on the Raven’s door with bruises. Maverick only wants to help her, but she refuses to admit she needs help and apologize for coming.

The second book continues to where things were left off between them; Maverick watching over her discreetly and her being in denial of what her life has become. He can’t seem to put her in the past though he knows he ought to do it knowing something is not right.

Maverick is dedicated to the people he cared about. From the first book of the series, you can see that. He’s loyal and he would do anything to protect the ones he loves. He feels a lot of guilt over what happened between his mom and father and that reflects a lot into the person he has become.

Alexa's character was frustrating at time, but at the same time, you understand where her thoughts are coming from. Unlike us the readers, Alexa isn't aware of the bad relationship she is in; she always finds excuses to explain why Slater did one thing and why he didn't do the other. But Alexa is a lot like Maverick; she takes care of her loved ones. She is dedicated to her mother and even if it’s hard sometimes, she doesn’t let that stop her.

Alexa and Maverick together were like two pieces of puzzle put back together; they just fit. I liked how he helped her realize little by little that the relationship she thought she needs/wanted was far from perfect without pushing too far. He was there when she needed him and that’s it. It was slow building because Alexa had to work a lot on herself to understand who she was and who she has become and realize who she really was.

Though the main story is about them, there’s also a lot of going on in the background with the Ravens as they try to save the image of the club after the events of the previous books and so many obstacles are put on their path too.

I will admit that I got frustrated with the book from time to time because a lot of injustices happened in it and I wanted to punch someone and since I can’t punch my phone, I decided to just turn it off and wait to cool off.

Overall, it was a quick read that will probably make you want to hit something from time to time, but I think you’ll fall in love with Alexa and Maverick’s story.

I'm really looking forward to the next books of the series and see where Laura will take us next.

Maybe they weren't ready before. They needed to grow, find out what they really wanted. Become who they were supposed to be all along.

Be careful what you wish for. Alexa thought she got what she had wanted when she wanted certainty, permanence, and security. Unfortunately it's not what she thought it would be. She's got herself into a bad situation and didn't realize how bad it was until it was almost too late.

When she needed help, she ran to the one man who used to have her heart, Maverick, her ex. (I'll just throw in there I'm calling dibs on him!) When she goes back home to Grant, her fiance, he is not pleased. He's not pleased about a lot of things. He's a controlling perfectionist that needs his butt laid out. The way that he treats Alexa made me want to get violent with him.

Mav feels like he's let down the people that meant the most to him in the past and he isn't going to do it again. He's all in on protecting Alexa even if she doesn't want it. When the chips are down and he has to step in what is Alexa going to do? When Grant plays dirty to get her to come back to him, is she going to be strong enough with the help of Mav and his MC brothers to do what needs to be done?

The way that Mav is with Alexa I just wanted to hug him. He's just being himself and she calls all of his protective instincts to the surface. These two together are steamy hot and to see them rebuilding their relationship *sigh* there's nothing like second chance love is there?

"You're a good man, Maverick Rylan. Better than I gave you credit for. But I see you now."

REVIEW
I enjoyed this fast-paced exciting story of Maverick and Alexa. The problems in her life were so realistically portrayed and the characters real. Her mother’s mental health issue was handled realistically without dramatization, including how it affected Alexa. The portrayal of her abusive fiancé and how the situation had progressed was also spot-on. All that played well into the sexy love story and made Maverick even more perfect. Love, sex, friendship and hardship all rolled into one nice story.

Rene's Thoughts:

* It was so fun to be back with the Raven Riders again! They are a great group of guys, who actively help those who can not help themselves. These are men you want to know and have in your life. They are also all hot, have hot bikes and even hotter tattoos!
* You do not need to have read the first novel in the series to enjoy this one. Several characters from the previous make an appearance, but their relationships are full explained and do not distract from the story.
* One of the narrative elements I enjoyed the most, was that both Alexa and Maverick were responsible for their past relationship falling apart. During the course of the novel they realize how wrong they had both been!
* Alexa and Maverick have some amazing chemistry! They really are perfectly matched, and not just in the bedroom. Their history also enables them to understand each other, even more deeply.
* I love how Alexa grows as a character throughout the novel. You see her gradually change, and become her true-self. Someone who realizes what a great guy Maverick is and has always been!
* Maverick is one of the good guys, he's hard-working, caring, kind and protective of the ones he loves. He realizes that he's as much at fault for what happened in the past, as Alexa is, and moves past blaming her.
* The Raven Riders mission may be all about helping those who can not help themselves, but all of these heroines prove that they are strong enough to protect themselves! It's one of the many things I love about this series!
* I can't wait for the next installment, Ride Wild, and to finally see Sam smile again!

It you have read Ride Hard (which I recommend you do before reading Ride Rough) you will remember we met Alexa shortly in that book. This book picks up right after Ride Hard ends and is her and Maverick’s story.

When Alexa’s brother died it sent her into a tailspin. She decided to leave everything she knew behind and start over. She may not have left town but she pretty much cut ties to anything and everybody she knew before her brother’s passing. That included Maverick, her brother’s best friend and her one time love. Now she is living the life she thinks she should but it isn’t all it seems to be. One night leads her back to the people she once left seeking shelter.

Maverick hasn’t ever gotten over not only losing his love but losing both of his best friends. He hasn’t stopped loving Alexa and when he thinks she is in trouble he refuses to just let things be. Thank goodness he didn’t listen to Alexa and kept coming around otherwise who knows what would have happened that stormy night. Now he has a chance to prove his love for Alexa all over again and show her he is the man she needs and loves.

I really loved going back into this world. The MC is one of my favorites because it is different. I loved seeing Dare and Haven and Cora again along with Bunny and Joker and many of the others. I am excited for the next one to come out.

I have been very excited about diving back into the world of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. The Raven Riders Series is a spin off from Laura Kaye's Hard Ink Series, which is one of my favorite series. Ride Rough is Maverick and Alexa's story. Once best friends and lovers, Maverick and Alexa had what they thought was a rock solid relationship, that is until tragedy struck, and that tragedy tore them apart. Now five years later, and their paths cross once again. Maverk is now Vice President of the Raven Riders and Alexa, well she thought she had everything she ever wanted, until what she wanted turns bad, and the only place she has to turn is to Maverick Rylan.

Maverick and Alexa soon realize that what they had is still there, and in fact, is even stronger. As their relationship blossoms, the also face an even bigger threat, one that no only affects them, but also everyone they love.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ride Rough and loves getting to see the characters from the previous books also make an appearance in this installment as well. I loved seeing Maverick and Alexa find each other again. The romance was hot, the story itself was captivating in that trademark Laura Kaye style. I most certainly would recommend adding Ride Rough to you to-be-read list.

***I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by Inkslinger PR through Edilweiss.***

I was rather looking forward to this story, but I feel that it didn't quite live up to its potential. The pacing was good, and I liked how we got to see how the townspeople were reacting to the MC in general.

For me, the biggest annoyance in this story was Alexa. I hated her actions in her grief, and yet it set her up to be rescued by Maverick. I wondered why she wanted the things that she was seeking in the new relationship, and felt that it was never fully explained. It made Alexa seem very shallow. The situation with her mom was a loose end that I would have also liked explained further.

Maverick was a great hero, and seemed like he did a good job of balancing club requirements with a personal life. I liked how he was willing to forgive Alexa and give her and their love a second chance.

We do get to see a cameo of Hard Ink characters, and see how the two teams are keeping integrated despite their differences and lack of formal "treaties". All things considered, this was a well paced book that kept me entertained despite some minor annoyances.

Lindsey's review
This book hit me right in the heart! I love second chance romances and this one doesn't not disappoint.

Alexa is in a difficult situation, but what connected me to Alexa was her strength and willingness to recognize the signs and get herself out of her bad situation.

Maverick Rylan is everything I have come to expect from a Laura Kaye alpha male. Hard and soft, sweet and kind, strong and vulnerable all at the same time.

I love the relationship between Alexa and Maverick. It had that "I just can't seem to quite you" feel, but in the best way possible. What I enjoyed most about the relationship between Alexa and Maverick is the way they support each other in their decisions and yet at the same time they are not afraid to tell each what they really think or how they are really feeling.

The story flows easily with all the word magic that is the genius of Laura Kaye. I love getting to check back in the Raves, especially in the little moments where Haven and Dare appear.

This book was everything I was hoping for and more! If you have yet to meet the Raves, what are you waiting for?

A big, bad motorcycle guy reunited with his first love makes for an exciting story as deceit and danger abound! A great continuation of characters that we met in the first book in the series with lots of drama, danger and intrigue. I felt the street retribution seemed to get overshadowed with the reunion storyline a bit, but Mav turned out to be such a sweet guy.

Tough guy Maverick Rylan has never gotten over his first and only love, and when he learns she’s in trouble, nothing can stop him from being there for her. As the VP of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club, he knows what a family is like, and he has plenty of man power behind him in support as he rides in to save the day.

Alexa Harmon thought she had everything she’d ever dreamed of … a good job, the security she never had growing up, a successful fiance … and then it all started crumbling down around her. Who was this guy that she was with and how could she not have realized what he was capable of? She lets Mav whisk her away and protect her from all of the ugliness, and when the old feelings come back in a flash, will they be able to resist that old pull of desire?

This story was Intense!! Packed with emotion and thrills! Maverick Rylan will steal your heart! He is a true White Knight on an Iron Horse! He sets out to honor his friend Ty Harmon's sister, but finds more than he bargained for! Alexa Harmon wanted nothing to do with the club her brother died for. She wanted a different life! One that was secure and without violence. Alexa chose a man that could provide her with the life she dreamed of. But,Greg turned out to be a nightmare instead!! He not only didn't respect Alexa,he didn't like her family. Sure, her mother was not all there and, had a lot of issues. Instead of helping Alexa with her mom,he made things harder! I think his goal was to make Alexa become a Stepford Wife! Mold her into what he wanted! When Alexa is thrown out on the street by Greg, Maverick rides in to save the day!! I knew there was more of Greg's nonsense to come!! I just wondered if he would get what he really deserved in the end!

I loved reading about the loyalty between the characters! If you're a lover of motorcycle club romances, you will Love this one!! Reviewed For Reviews From The Heart

I made the mistake of getting behind with Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series and fully regret it, so I am fully determined to not make that same mistake with this series. Especially not since it's going so well for me already. Ride Rough was amazing and these characters were crazy sexy so I just couldn't get enough of them. This was also my second second-chance romance that I read over the weekend so maybe I've been converted to a lover of this trope.

Maverick and Alexa had a sizzling chemistry that was undeniable when you saw them together. I'm not even kidding, their sexual tension almost made my Kindle explode. I really loved seeing them together and seeing how close they became even after not being together for years.

Maverick was the true hero of this book for me though and I will definitely be re-reading it just for him. He was this big bad biker dude but then we got to see the sweet and tender side to him and it had me swooning all over the place.

Bottom line, you need to start this series right away. I love these men that Laura Kaye creates and I think everyone else will too.

Love, Honor and Protect. Maverick lives his life by those three words. The blood that flows through his veins may not be blue blood but is laced with a steel that makes him a dangerous enemy. He's a man of few words and boundaries but he gives his all to everything he does. No one can write a bad boy quite like Ms. Kaye. You want to hate him, but can't help but love him. He may not be the standard do-gooder but he loves as hard as he fights. Alexa is a weakness, he can't shake and that sets him on a course for the biggest risk of all. Ride Rough gets under the skin and leaves a mark on the heart. A dirty, sexy, thrill.

I love Laura Kate's alpha males and Maverick Rylan is up there with the best of them, as Vice President of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club he doesn't let anyone walk all over him, no one that is except Alexa Harmon, his one true love, and sister to his dead best friend. Following the motorcycle accident that killed her brother 5 years earlier, Alexa is settled and looking forward to her marriage to her fiancée. With only a matter of weeks to the wedding, things start becoming clearer about her fiancée's disposition, which I must say is far from that of a normal loving husband to be. She seeks out the assistance of her one and only friend, Maverick, and it would appear that things are far from over between them. Wonderful series, following the super alpha Raven Riders and the women they love. Thoroughly enjoyed Maverick's story.

Wow. I thought the first was a strong, powerful read. Ride Rough is just as powerful. As an extension of the Inked Series, the Have Riders admittedly have not always been on the right side of the law. With Dare and Maverick in charge, they intend to make some serious changes. If their old life allows it.

I can't wait to see what Kaye has in store for the next Haven book. Hopefully, it will not be the same girl in abusive relationship, bad-ass biker to the rescue. (Although who wouldn't want one of Kaye's hero's to run to the rescue?) There are many types of heroes needed in this world and I'm sure Kaye will find a heroine in each of those subject areas.

Having received this book from the publisher for a fair and honest review, I hope to be able to review future installments of the series.

The Raven Riders are working their way up the list of bikers that I love. They try to do the right thing but don't mind getting their hands dirty.

Here we've got Maverick and Alexa. They grew up together and dated until her brother died. In her grief, she pushed Mav away and he didn't fight for them. Now it's five years later and she's come to the Ravens for help cause her fiance has gotten handsy.

I loved watching them rekindle their romance. The ex was wacko. I didn't like that we were left wondering what was going to happen to Alexa's mom.

I'm looking forward to the next book where we see Slider come back to life after his wife's death.

Sweet, sexy second-chance romance with just the right amount of drama and intensity.

Alexa is lost and at a crossroads but she's strong and independent and doesn't back down or give in. Maverick is fiercely protective but sweet and not overbearing - he wants to keep Alexa safe but not lock her away, so he is there for her in whatever way she needs him to be. Plus this big bad biker is a complete softy! I love how he spoiled Lucy and bought her a little skulls and crossbones sweater!

I'm not usually one for MC romance but I really enjoyed Ride Rough (more so than Ride Hard) and look forward to continuing the series

My friend won this book through Goodreads Giveaways and passed it onto me to read. I loved it from beginning to end. I loved how Maverick Rylan is just himself and is always looking out for his best friend's sister/his ex-girlfriend. Alexa has lost her ability to believe in herself over the last 5 years and is ready to marry someone else. But can Maverick make her see that she is making the wrong decision or will Alexa stay in a relationship maybe she wasn't meant to be in??

I was a little hesitant about Ride Rough because Ride Hard hadn't really worked for me. Thankfully, Ride Rough was everything I expected from a Laura Kaye novel. Maverick is everything you want in a book boyfriend - hot, sexy, and protective. Alexa wasn't my ideal heroine. There was something about her that I just didn't connect with - I'm still trying to figure out what it is. But overall, Ride Rough is a great second-chance romance. We get a glimpse of the Hard Ink guys and see how the two series are interconnected. This book has me antsy, waiting for the next book in the series.

Maverick and Alexa are that couple that should just be together. They have history together and a friendship that goes beyond their insane chemistry.

When a soon-to-be ex fiance gets out of hand, Maverick is there to help Alexa. I loved Maverick. He is that perfect mix of bad-ass alpha male hotness, with the sweet and romantic side that will melt your heart. He even loved Lucy, the hairless cat. Now that is a man to keep!

A great addition to this series.

Loved this book and loved the second chance that Maverick and Alexa had. I hated to see everything that Alexa was having to face with her Ex, but sometimes the things that life throws at you only make your stronger. I loved seeing how much Maverick loved Alexa and wanted to protect her.

Beautiful and addicting second chance romance. Although this can be read alone, it's even better for fans of both this series and Hard Ink as there are many familiar characters.

This was an amazing addition to the Ravens Riders series with Maverick and Alexa getting their happily ever after since they were apart for five years and never thought things would work out between them. When Alexa's brother died in a motorcycle accident her world fell apart and she needed Maverick to reassure her that he would always be there for her but he did not respond. That was five years ago and she now was engaged to Grant but there were real problems. She was due to wed in two weeks but Maverick was looking out for her after Grant had pushed her and she ran to him for help bloody and cut. Maverick was not going to let anything happen to her since he realized he made a mistake five years ago by not stepping up for her. She tells him to step back but he couldn't. Once again Alexa has and arugment and Grant throws her out in the rain with nothing but the clothes on her back. Maverick was there to rescue her and this is where their love story starts over again. It won't be easy because Grant is going to make their lives complicated but it definitely adds plenty of suspense to the storyline. This is a fabulous love story where two people fight through so many life and death situations and come out at the end fighting all odds to keep each other alive and together. It also shows how the Raven Motorcycle club is a real family that are loyal to their friends such as Hard Ink family as well. They also care about their community and take care of women that are in abusive relationships and need their help to escape. I highly recommend this fabulous hot suspenseful romance and cannot wait to read Cora and Slider's love story next.

Imagine waking up one day to the realization that you really aren't in love with the man you are supposed to marry. That in spite of the fact your job, both your home and your mother's and your car are all wrapped up with him, you've had enough of his demands for perfection. Enough of him making you feel guilty for being you.

That is exactly what happens to Alexa. The confrontation between her and Grant leads to him shoving her out the door to their home, in the rain, as she cuddles her cat. She has no keys, no clothes, nothing but she walks away. Done!

Maverick has been keeping an eye on Alexa ever since she showed up at the Raven Rider's Clubhouse, bruised and bleeding. He didn't know the exact cause of her state but had suspicions that she denied. He watched as Alexa walks away in the rain, picks her up and takes her to his home.

Now Grant wants her back, but she is having none of it. With Maverick and the Raven Riders behind her, she finds the strength to fight back.

Alexa's ex steps up his game making this a very emotional and sometimes scary tale since enough money can often buy the people meant to protect.

The heat between Maverick and Alexa is more than just the physical. But Alexa has to come to terms with the past before they can move forward.

In this book Laura takes on not only emotional abuse but hoarding as well. Two psychological issues that are not easily seen and rarely understood.

Be prepared to sit and read until the last page, you won't want to spend a minute away from this story.

Second chance romance is one of my favorite themes. Add in the MC element and Laura Kaye's incredible characters, and I was really excited for this story. Alexa and Maverick have an amazing journey of a long time friendship and connection, first love, heartbreak, grief, and coming back into each other's lives in times of need. Their connection and chemistry was like a live wire. Crackling and sparking when they were near one another. I loved every scene with the club and all the great characters there. Their brotherhood, unconditional love and support, and fierce protectiveness of each other was beautiful. Alexa's relationship with Blake and everything that happened between them was powerful. An important message of strength and hope in every word of it. I loved how she evolved from the first page to the last. She found herself in her fight against him and with her reunion with Mav. Maverick was so lovable. Tough alpha for sure, but he also wasn't afraid to lay out his heart for Alexa. This really is a wonderful MC series, with fantastic characters and stories. Looking forward to more.

Chills, thrills and a really rough ride. Maverick may have lost Alexia five years ago when her brother died in an accident, but his love for her remains. She has moved on, or so he thought, until she shows up at the clubhouse injured thanks to an abusive fiance. This time Maverick won't let her go.

Life never seems to go easy for the Ravens. Hold on to your helmet because this time they are dealing with a class A jerk in Alexia's ex, Grant Slater. He wants to destroy the MC. He wants the racetrack land. He wants Alexia. He wants it all and will stop at nothing to get what he believes he should have.

Grant has money. Grant has power. Grant has people influence. Grant has an ego. Grant has control issues. The Ravens MC are in the fight of their life to stay out of jail, to stay in business and to remain the protectors they have worked so hard to become.

This is one HEA that the characters and the reader have to work for but so worth it.

I was anxiously awaiting this book and oh my heavens, I love me some Maverick! I really enjoy getting lost in Laura Kaye's motorcycle club world. The Raven Riders are good for the community and look out for others. However, I wouldn't want to cross them because they will exact revenge. Maverick has grown up in this world and is a teddy bear underneath the muscles and motorcycle! He protects those he cares about is a good man. Years ago, he and Alexa weren't ready for each other and their relationship ended. But he has never forgotten her.
Alexa knows the Raven Riders (and Maverick) are a safe haven and she had to lean on them once before. Now, Maverick keeps an eye on her because he knows things can't be good if she has needed their solace they provide. And thankfully he was there when she needed him. She has had a rough life and yet, it's made her strong and into the woman she has become today. She realizes she can lean on Maverick and he helps her see the scum her ex is. I really enjoyed watching them get to know each other all over again. Sure, they have a past and knew each other for years, but they have to learn who they are now. Their story is heartbreaking at times, but sweet and fun and I did not want to put this book down! I was completely entranced by them and Maverick is my new book boyfriend! *fans self* Reader, just you wait! He will melt your heart, especially with Lucy. Don't miss this fantastic read from Laura Kaye! And scroll back up and look at that cover again; HAWT!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Ride Rough is the second book in Laura Kaye's Raven Riders. It focuses around a motorcycle club and it's members. Each book can be read as a standalone.

The Raven Riders live and ride by their own rules. Brotherhood. Club. Family. Maverick Rylan is their Vice President. He will not apologize for who he is. He is a sought after custom bike builder. A man dedicated to protecting his club and the ones he loves. When he finds out the one woman he has ever loved is in trouble, he will move heaven and earth to save her. Alexa Harmon has had Maverick's heart and he her's since they were old enough to know what giving your heart meant. When the going got rough though Alexa ran away from Maverick. Now Alea thinks she has it all. Security in a good job, a beautiful home, and a powerful, charming finance who has offered her everything she never had growing up. Sometimes though dreams turn to nightmares. Alexa is stuck in a nightmare she can't escape and Grant, her fiance is the villain. However, when Maverick realizes that Alexa is in a mess he offers her a way out. Now forced to be together to keep Alexa save the embers of passion reignite and Maverick is determined to do whatever it takes to earn a second chance. A second chance that Alexa might be willing to give. That is if Grant will let her go. They are in for the fight of their lives. A fight that threatens everything they both hold dear.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Meet the man your going to love to hate......Grant. Oh my goodness I did not know weather to turn him over my knee and spank him or run....run like the wind. He is such a great villain in this story. Poor Alexa, she absolutely can not catch a break. All she has ever wanted in life was to have a better life than her childhood. To be loved and adored and she had found that in her brothers best friend. Than tragedy strikes and she decides that Maverick will never to be able to be there for her like she needs because of the tragedy. She pushed Maverick so far away but Maverick will always consider her the one who got away. Plus there is his club and his loyalty to his brothers. Maverick is one hot, caring alpha male.

At it's heart Ride Rough is a second chance romance with a side of suspense. It had me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed spending more time with all the boys from the series. I personally can not wait for the next one. I really like Laura's writing style and how she can suck you so far into a book the world disappears. I can not wait for the next book in this series
