The Safe Bet (Hidden Truths Book 1)

I really liked this book by Brittney Sahin. I couldn't put it down! Read it in 2 days flat. The story was interesting and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. Great writing! Can't wait for the next one in the series.

This book totally missed the mark for me. The hero was hot and obscenely rich and the heroine was gorgeous. We're told this over and over again. But the real problem I had is that he only wanted her for her body for most of the book. That is also stated over and over again! He even says "I don't do relationships. I ...." Nope. Started skimming after that.

I just could never really care much about these two characters. I usually love military characters struggling with things they experienced, but Michael was like a cardboard cut-out. The only interesting thing he did was in the epilogue (I won’t say what because I don’t want to give away any part of the story) and that’s just too late. For a character who’s supposed to be smart and independent, Kate’s actions didn’t jibe much of the time. Because I never felt truly connected to the characters, even the sex scenes were underwhelming.

There were many inconsistencies, especially in the ‘mystery/suspense’ side of the story, and I found myself reading with one eyebrow raised (in other words I didn’t trust the writing completely). But still I wanted to know the resolution of the mystery (more so than the romance). However, the climax felt rushed and certain actions didn’t make any sense, and/or jumped in time (i.e., how did he know to go *there*…?). So… not as satisfying as I’d hoped.

A covoluted tale...ex military billionaire
" protecting " his gorgeous event planner from a hired terrorist stalker at the same time trying to find her mother's murderer. The author uses lots of sex to break up the intrigue and lack of logic.

First I have to apologize to the author, I reviewed the older version of this book not realizing that it had been updated. In my previous review I was not to fond of either characters at first. I was frustrated with Michael and Kate, his tendencies to go cold and allow women to saddle up to him in front her but no one was allowed to go near her, as well as the way he treated her in the penthouse. But also Kate when she allowed him to do this to her and not sticking up for herself when it came to him. There were times when I wanted to slap both of them upside their heads. I finally started warming up to him closer to the end and when he finally gets the help he needs.
But in the newer version what a difference an added line or two and even a paragraph can make to change my outlook on the two. There were differences in almost every chapter but the main difference was the better POV that was written on Michael. His going cold towards Kate is explained, what he thinks about other women, what he feels for Kate....WOW
A great romance suspenseful book filled with secrets, lies, omissions, lust/love, some action and a hot alpha military man who is broken and needs the right woman to be able reach him and heal him. It's about a military man, Michael, who has many demons in his past and an event planner, Kate. When Michael's sister hires Kate the attraction is there between the two. But Kate doesn't get involved with clients and doesn't do one night stands. Michael only does one night stands and doesn't do relationships because he thinks he is broken. During their time together planning the event it gets harder and harder between the two to not give into the attraction but when Michael finds out that Kate has a stalker he does everything in his power to protect her and keep her safe. One of which is she moves into his penthouse so he can keep an eye on her but the tension is there and soon they find themselves between the sheets. But when the stalker finally makes his final move it may be too late for both of them.
A much much better read with even steamier scenes, a more lovable and vulnerable Michael thus protraying Kate as a stronger woman at the same time and an epilogue that made me laugh. My original star rating was a 4....but now definitely a 5.

Standalone in a series

Kate Adams is a consummate professional, she assists in planning the perfect events and keeps her personal and professional life separated. Kate struggles with the dangers of losing her heart, Michael faces the danger of sharing his secrets, together they tackle the dangers of a serious stalker, and I lost to the danger when I grew attached to the characters and their story. Silenced Memories is Brittney Sahin's debut novel and the first novel in a standalone series titled Hidden Truths. This captivating book mixes romance with suspense, taking the mixture of business and pleasure another step further. The strongest part of Silenced Memories is the plot, it was really well fleshed out, easy to picture, and played out in my head like a movie would. I found my anxiety growing as the action picked up and I love a book that can make me experience the peril alongside the characters.

I loved the multifaceted story line, I felt like I got to really know the characters outside of their romance and the threat of the stalker. I loved Kate, she's a strong female character that knows herself, but isn't immune to the power of the Man of Steel. She's smart, beautiful, and at times a little irrational, but all the same fun to read about. Her family's past plays a huge role in the story and I really enjoyed how she reacted and dealt with the secrets and twists. Michael, on the oher hand, is totally swoonworthy. I loved his character background and how much went into showing his successes as a business man and hidden flaws as he struggles with his past in the military. At times I couldn't see these two working and at other times I thought they were soulmates, which made for a really interesting read. There is a ton of character development in Silenced Memories, especially when the characters recognize their feelings and start looking at themselves in new ways. I found myself wrapped up in them, just as surprised by the twists as they were. It's definitely not a predictable book and it just got better with every page turn.

If you are looking for a hot, sexy, and suspensful read, let me assure you that this is it. There's secrets, apprehension, guns, lust, and some very headstrong characters at the center of this novel. Silenced Memories is just the tip of the iceberg in the Hidden Truths series, you'll definitely find yourself eager to know more about all the secondary characters you meet in Silenced Memories. Give me more of the hot marines, for sure.

“Silenced Memories” by Brittney Sahin is filled with twists and turns as more than one mystery materializes when Michael, a wealthy bachelor who ‘doesn’t do relationships’, and Kate, a successful event planner who ‘doesn’t do one-night-stands’ can’t seem to keep their eyes off of one another. Both are holding on to memories they are not ready to share.
As the plot unfolds, Sahin had this reader on the edge of her seat. Murder and international terrorism enter the scene when Kate is being followed by more than one suspicious stranger while planning a gala event to raise funds for ex-Marine Michael’s cause, supporting injured veterans. As the plot thickens and radiates in multiple directions, the author doesn’t skip a stitch, but ties all the loose end up seamlessly. Well-done!

So I recently discovered Ms Sahin and this the second book I have read by her and I must say I am enjoying it. I have been on a romantic suspense kick and can’t get enough right now. Give me psychos, stalkers, hero’s, military men, family secrets, and I am there!

This book had it all. Micheal, a broken former Marine with a heart of gold that is surrounded by a titanium wall. Kate, a planner, literally she plans everything her life, parties, etc. Who doesn’t know what to do with her growing attraction to Micheal. Interesting secondary characters that I look forward to reading about (Conner especially).

So the only thing I had an issue with was I thought Michael was kind of a jerk for fighting the feelings for too long in the book. I felt he needed to let go sooner. That was my only complaint I would have rather had more of them working through his issues together than him trying to come to terms with his feelings for Kate. That’s all. Enjoyed the suspense and story and I have already downloaded book 2, Aiden’s story.

I saw this book advertised on social media and thought I'd give it a go. Not really my genre, but it looked worth a shot. I'm glad I did. The story sets it's stall out nicely. The main two characters are Kate and Michael. Both successful. Both in demand. Both with dark secrets. They are thrown together from a business deal, seemingly harmless. The author flicks her flirty paintbrush with ease, creating a tense attraction between them. This part of the book is pure escapism. Yes, they are rich, they are powerful. However, Sahin makes them likeable and realistic. That's as far as I will go with the plot outline. Suffice to say, dark twists start to appear, turning this seemingly harmless romance, into a tense thriller. The author totally nails this, sucking you into Kate and Michael's world. It really gripped me. The story, and storytelling were that good. I will be checking out more from this talented writer.

This is an amazing book - a definitely must read by Brittney Sahin. What I love about The Safe Bet is Brittney wrote a bright and strong female h, a hot and alpha H, a romantic love story and scorching hot sex Scenes. It's the full package deal. Michael has been through some very hard times in his life yet yas a big heart for a love and his country. Then he meets Kate. Kate struggles to keep distance from Michael, a client but their attraction is amazing, their cheinstant and intense. This series is been a pleasure so far and I can't wait to read the next. Love it!

Event planner and business owner, Kate Adams, is in Charlotte to (hopefully) host an event for the Maddox Group. It would be huge for her to land Michael Maddox as a client. She knows it's going to be difficult given that Michael refuses to put himself and his company in the spotlight but what she doesn't expect are her growing feeling for her client or the threat that seems to be lurking in the shadows.
Kate is a hard-working, smart, and capable woman. Very similar to Michael's dedication and brilliance. Where they differ is their views on relationships. Kate is too busy for a relationship but that doesn't mean she wants a casual hook-up either. If she's going to be with a man, she wants a real relationship. Michael, on the other hand, is against anything more than a fling. He has no desire to open up to anyone. He's extremely stubborn and closed off. While the back and forth of "will they, won't they" did become a bit much after awhile, it did create sexual tension between these two that was off the charts.
In addition to the romance, Sahin included a mystery and a feeling of suspense. This aspect was intriguing and added so much to the story. Someone is out there, watching, waiting, biding their time. When Kate's life is in danger, how far will Michael go to protect her?

If you are looking for suspense, mystery, and a good thrill with an alpha male and strong, independent woman than get yourself a copy of Silenced Memories.

This was my first book by Sahin and it was an explosion of entertainment and suspense making me not want to set it down until I knew what was around every corner and was reading the last page!

This book has many twists and turns, a stalker, an unsolved murder, and two people who are not looking for a relationship. Michael was a Marine who leaves the military after the ambush and death of most of his troop. Kate is a party planner who comes to Charlotte to plan a gala to raise money for veterans. Michael protects Kate when a stalker threatens her. She is afraid that the stalker is somehow connected to her mother who died when she was born. This book is first of a series that is well worth reading. I liked the author's use of surprise events that will keep the reader interested.

Silenced Memories is the story of Kate, a event planner who has been hired by Julia Maddox to plan a fundraiser for her brother Michael a former Marine who hates the limelight, but has a charity to help ex-service men, as well as being a very successful business man.

Kate arrives in the town that she was born to work for Julia and Michael, whilst there she attracts some unwanted attention of a stalker and the attention of Michael.
Kate is torn by her feelings for Michael, Who is the type of man that only does one night stands and nothing serious, the opposite to Kate.
As well as finding out some family history that shakes her world, on the trail of find her stalker.

I found the suspense in this book had me guessing who the stalker was and second guessing, which was brilliant.
The romance of the story was also brilliantly written, the sex dirty, hot and steamy and wanting more.

I honestly can't wait to read Innocence & Betrayal next, which is another standalone like Silenced Memories in the Hidden Truths series.

If Brittney Sahin is not currently on your radar she soon will be as the next big up and comer.

Kate & Michaels story has Romance & Suspense and I couldn’t put it down. Kate is an event planner and comes to plain the event for Michael Maddox. Michael has secrets and is dealing with past nightmares of the military. Michael doesn’t want a relationship but Kate doesn’t do one night stands. When Kate’s life turns into a nightmare being stalked by a stalker Michael stands by her side to keep her safe. Michael wants to protect her. The book has suspense,passion and definitely makes you want to keep reading. This is the first book in the Hidden Truth Seriesanc can be read as a stand-alone if you want.

This looks to be a really good series. Ex special ops men, romantic entanglements, and don't forget a good suspense plot. I always enjoy this combination, especially when the blend is good. Not too heavy in one area and well written. Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Silenced Memories by Brittney Sahin is a great read, It features romance, love and psychological suspense all wrapped up in a mystery. The characters are contemporary figures with current issues. It is a page turner to the end. I recommend this book to anyone looking for great literary entertainment.

An okay quick read, with predictable scenarios. However the author did throw in a few twists that kept it from being boring. I believe this is the first book from this author that I've read, and I wondered if it was her first book, some confusion with transitions, sometimes felt as if the author struggled with how to continue with the plot line; it felt forced and a few editing errors (I have the kindle addition). There are other books in this series and I've already downloaded them to read, hoping that the stories are as good as they sound and that the author has worked out her writing kinks.

I found this book very disjointed. The story jumped around with little continuity between scenes. The characters were not well developed at all. I didn't really care about the heroine, and really disliked the hero. The premise of the story was good, as far as it went, but it got lost in the bad dialogue, and confusion of the characters.

I was really captivated with the characters in Silenced Memories. Very descriptive and intriguing storyline. A must read for people who enjoy mystery and romance. Look forward to more books by this young author.

Brittney is an incredible author. I finished this book in 2 days and found myself picking it up whenever I had even 5 minutes. The characters are easy to connect with and you will quickly be drawn in. There were twists that you won't see coming that make it even better. A must free for the suspense lover who also enjoys some hot romance!! Cant wait for the next one!

Starts off with what seems a simple storyline of an event planner, Kaye and ex marine, Michael, who fall in love, but the plot escalates as Kate discovers she's being stalked and the disturbing events which ensue are related to her mother's murder, when she was born. Michael and his friends, also ex marines, come to the rescue. Michael has plenty of issues of his own, and their relationship and the plot has lots of twists and turns up to the unexpected, albeit happy, ending. A pleasant read. Lots of action. Some steamy scenes.

Kate was an event planner she was in Charlotte Carolina after bring contacted by Julia Maddox. She was the sister of Michael Maddox a self made multi millionaire. He had developed military devises that could save counless soldiers In battle.He had also served as a Marine in the military. This had left him a broken man but he had spent the money any way needed to help veterans. His sister wanted Kate to help plan and convince Michael to host a fund raiser for his cause .This is a wonderful book and I think you would enjoy it .

If you want a book that has ...intrigue....instant attraction....sex....child-birth...stalker...bodyguards...murder....auction... Well this book has it all and more! Think I'll keep this around for a reread...with everything going on I might have mixed a few! Fantastic read!

Michael and Kate’s relationship is realistic and heart thumping. With a stalker on the loose and the push and pull of feelings, anything can happen. I couldn’t put this story down, finished it in one sitting. I want more of Kate and Michael.
