I was really looking forward to reading Men of the Bible by D.L. Moody when I encountered untruth in the first chapter! He claimed that Abraham was disobedient to the Lord and went half way to Canaan and stopped at Haran, where according to Moody Abram's father died because Abram was disobedient to God's word. They were in Haran according to the Bible when Abram's father died. THAN God called Abram to Canaan. ALWAYS hold up other people's words to the Bible! Even if they have a great reputation. It seems that Moody was trying to promote his own doctrine there. I'm not even interested in finishing this book now.

I really enjoyed Moody's straightforward and certainly understandable studies of these men. Each is simple, yet gives a good overview of what went on in the history of the men. No doubt, there were others to be stidied, but this is a nice rlook at these men.

I found this book very informative. It is a great tool in the use of studying the character and lives of several of the patriarchs in the OT as well as some men of the NT. It opens up and describes much more of the individual than a standard study bible provides. There is a sense of "getting to know" the men introduced on more of a friendship level than a historical one. I enjoyed this book.

This book calls upon both the saved and the unsaved to make that ever important decision for Christ. To the unsaved the call to repentance is ever pressing and clear, to the saved the question is asked how faithful are you and how faithful will you be? An easy read that keep the heart and mind focused on our service to the Lord. I would recommend to anyone who wishes to reconnect with their Lord and Savior, as well as those stuck in complacency and contentment.

This book gave me some new insights into the lives of these men. Also in some of the ways that God is working my life.
It kind of like put a magnifying glass on the scriptures and shed new light.
It also confirmed some problems in our churches today. At times I thought Mr. Moody was looking into the future and not
at the churches of his day.

For anyone and everybody who would like to start and live a life with Christ by their sides, this book delivers. It is a must read during the Lenten season and reminds us the true meaning of Easter and what Christians need to rejoice in....the love of Jesus.

Moody descriptively covers a diverse range of biblical personalities in "Men of the Bible". The book is easy to follow and effective in allowing the reader to picture each event as Moody describes them. This is without a doubt the type of book you hate to put down. Wonderful Read!

Pain, fear, wonder we all have emotions that God wants to help us with. The trust we need and God wants us to have is waiting for us,whether we are David,Elijah,Job or Mike. A loving God is ready to meet his children anywhere, anytime.

I give this book 5 stars. This book answered all of the WHO,WHAT,WHEN,WHY and HOW. The author was on point with each of these men. Yes, he used his commentary to help paint a picture so you can better understand what each of them was going through. Finally, I enjoyed the method used. He used the "WHAT IF" method. By using this method, it gave the painting clarity.
