Harmony Black is back. There’s little rest for the Vigilant Lock, a secret op created to deal with occult threats. As usually things go off the rails and a simple side-job turns into saving the world kind of job. Team members must recover the Red Knight satellite that seems to attract a hostile unknown entity. The thing is there’s more than one group of people interested in the satellite and its content.

Mayhem follows.

As usually action is steady, loud and violent. Maybe not 100% logical but I didn’t expect it to be. I have to admit, though, that the ending was a bit irritating.

Characters develop a bit and there’s more focus on Kevin – awkward computer prodigy and Jessie who’s one of her kind. April stays in the background. While the characters aren’t really bad I can’t help but notice they lack chemistry and charm of Daniel Faust gang. Truth is I’m not particularly keen on Harmony. She’s a bit dull. On the other hand, Craig Schaefer plays a long game. All of his books and their meta plot interconnect. That’s why I plan to continue with Harmony Black series.

All in all, it was an enjoyable and fast pulp read. If you look for Urban Fantasy with strong female characters, it’s the series to consider. Just don't overanalyze this book.

Harmony Black is a tough witch with a tragic history and an FBI badge. She recently joined a super-secret government task force ostensibly dedicated to protecting the world from dark sorcerers, demons, and all manner of supernatural evil originating in our world and beyond. In Harmony Black's second standalone novel -- she appeared previously in author Schaeffer's Daniel Faust series -- she and her team are tasked with recovering a satellite, the "Red Knight" of the title, that will soon be crashing to earth after colliding with some debris. The satellite is somehow linked to an extremely dangerous occult evil, and it is essential that Harmony and her team recover its wreckage.

Unfortunately, Harmony's team is not the only group seeking to recover the satellite, and, inevitably, her superiors are both lying to her and keeping her in the dark. This seemingly simple mission will involve gun battles with mercenaries, magical battles with mages and worse, double and triple-crosses, a colleague returned from the dead, a trip to a hidden supernatural club in Chicago, and a very strained romance with an old friend. The tension and suspense do not let up until the end.

While the Harmony Black books are more restrained than Schaeffer's wildly action-packed Daniel Faust novels, "Red Knight Falling" is a satisfying read that advances our understanding of the characters and the world they inhabit. In fact, this book is more notable for the adversaries and potential allies it introduces than for the story it tells. Among the new players are a parallel team that operates under the aegis of the military, a touched-in-the-head tech billionaire, and a syndicate of evil multidimensional criminal masterminds. There's plenty of juice in there for several more novels.

Bottom line: A well-paced, enjoyable addition to Craig Schaeffer's stable of dark urban fantasy novels. Recommended to those who have enjoyed his earlier Daniel Faust and Harmony Black novels.

Apocalyptic drama deluxe! This has my heart pounding a few times. And then, I started to wonder: does the Network exist? It certainly presents a disturbing answer to the question of why a planetful of people just can't seem to keep from causing themselves such misery. It's not humans pulling the strings! If you believe in God, Allah or whatever any sect calls their ultimate Good, then you must agree that there's ultimate Bad. If we have whites, we have black. Binary opposition. Makes a sick sense that if the good guys organize to bring harmony and happiness to all under God, then the bad guys do the same, under whatever equivalent Evil exists. This author certainly got all that right! IF good and evil exist without humans, that is!

Great read - a "can't put it down" book! Strong, well-defined characters, incredible plot and super ending! Yes, I'll definitely be reading book three!

I came across the Harmony Black series after reading Craig Schaeffer's Daniel Faust series. WOW, the public loves Harmony Black! 1000+ reviews for the first book. The Daniel Faust "original series" only has a few dozen per book.

I feel the two Harmony Black books are well written, well paced, and a good series for the masses, as the number of reviews reflects. I think this book is 3.5 out of 5, rounded up to 4/5. I don't know why, but I find myself drawn to less popular things- books, phones, bikes, sports etc. I prefer the stronger occult/magic of the Daniel Faust series and his relationships with his friends, parents and girlfriend, then that of Harmony Black.

If you liked the first Harmony Black, then this one will suit you to a T.

This book has cemented my liking for Mr. Schaefer's writing. The book was interesting from start to finish, had some surprising twists that I didn't see coming, the action was non-stop, and the characters continue to be interesting. In fact, they really grew in this one, and we saw how they can all work to together even with their faults. I liked this book so well, I'm going to be looking into other books by this author as I can't wait for the third in this series. If you really like interesting paranormal mysteries, pick up this book, and try this series. It is so worth your time! Highly recommend!

I read this book right after reading the first book in the series. The plot is still great with lots of heavy action between supernaturals and humans. But my excitement is beginning to dim. Harmony, the main character, is involved in activities that results in frequent deaths. Though she feels badly I don't see her changing her ways or walking away from that lifestyle. Also, it seemed that the author ramped up the supernatural evil and I guess I don't need to know how much worse the violence and chicanery is going to get. It's already becoming too exaggerated for my taste.

I read it all. But couldn't completely suspend my disbelief at how the characters never reached their threshold of tolerance with the internal crap. Any real human would have
quit their agency and walked away. If a company doesn't have your back in lethal situations, it's not worth working for. That part of the story is COMPLETELY unbelievable. And that's accepting every thing else that happened. A good story always makes you, the reader, feel lime part of the story line. This one fails in that aspect. Last book of the series for me. Aloha.

I absolutely LOVED this book! I got the Kindle First for the first Harmony Black book and couldn't wait for the second one.
Mr Schaefer comes through once again. A bit of Sci Fi, a bit of Paranormal, some sleuthing and maybe even a bit of Geek thrown in also! All in all a very interesting story.
Harmony is a witch in the FBI and is now in a team called Vigilant Lock which is who they send when they have something, lets say, a bit far from the norm.
This book is a bit less about the paranormal per se and a bit more about Sci Fi.

Read the first book as a kindle first offering for free download and liked it enough that when part two was offered as a kindle unlimited I thought I'd give it a chance. Its a really I retesting premise. Best described as a cross between xfiles and buffy the vampire slayer. Sounds crazy buts its actually pretty darn good. Writing is a bit weak but the story moves along at a decent pace living little time for you to get bored. Some of the plot points are predictable and scream of being borrowed from other famous works but overall a solid read.

When an FBI special agent joins a "black ops" team that takes on supernatural cases, the action gets insane. The best part about this series is that the characters come across as real people with all the actual little foibles that make them human despite having unique abilities.
In this third book of the series, the team battles other "black ops" teams as well as criminals to stop the end of the world. A satellite has crashed that shouldn't exist and the race is on the recover what was inside.

I got the first Harmony Black novel in January as part of the Kindle First offer. I loved that book, and was excited to see he had a new one coming out in April.

I'm glad he writes so fast, because I love reading them.

This book features the Vigilant Lock team in pursuit of a mysterious satellite that has attracted a ton of attention. Plenty of fun villains and magical action. Love this character and this series, can't wait for book 3!

Plot is good. Really a decent read. The problem is every technical detail that possibly could be wrong is stupidly wrong. A few seconds of Google when writing would make this less of a muscle straining permanent series of eye rolls and more of an enjoyable read.

I like paranormal books, and saving the world as a part of the story. This is a little too gritty for me, which makes for slow, interrupted reading. I should like it better, but I can't. It's well done, has good plotting and character development and story line, and it remains too hard to plow through.

I will go another way, as much as I like the concept, and am curious about the future of this world.

I am now officially hooked on Craig Schaefer! I went through the entire Daniel Faust series, then read the first Harmony Black novel. The plots are involved and interesting, the characters easy to identify with, and there's a supernatural twist over all. The writing itself is quite good, and the pacing is great. Schaefer's books are actually fun to read, and "Red Knight Falling" is not an exception. I recommend it.

Really good sequel to the Harmony Black series. The premise is based on an actual urban legend and the new characters seem to be based on real people which helps draw you into the world that much more. I would have liked a little less repetitive explanations for Harmony and the gang (we get it, she's in pain after she uses her powers) but the story and the emphasis on the supernatural made it a fun read.

Craig Schaefer's blending of reality, science fiction, and what might truly exist is at its best in his newest Harmony Black series book, Red Knight Falling. Red Knight Falling kept up the pace with interesting characters and situations. Fantasy and reality partner masterfully through Craig Schaefer's writing. Thanks for another entertaining read, Craig! This reader wants more!

Enjoyed book #2 in the Harmony Black series. Another solid story about the occult and Harmony and company trying to prevent someone from taking over the world. Will be looking for the next book in the series.

I had high hopes after the first book. But instead it was a train ride, one crises to another to a third. The play was one long single line with no branching, no foreshadowing, no surprises. Disappointed after the fantastic read of book 1.

I really enjoyed the first Harmony Black book and this one did not disappoint. I fell in with the characters from the previous story but this one stood well by itself. I'm not usually one to read this genre, but I enjoyed it and will look forward to more of Harmony and her team.

I was looking for something different and I certainly found it in this author!
I really enjoy the mixture of fantasy and realism. Great job will be reading the next in the series, and many more of his works.

I loved the character development in Harmony Black and Red Knight Falling was a fitting sequel. I loved getting to know the characters better, there was a great plot, and I love that the plot never felt forced. I will gladly come back for more Harmony Black books!!

Interesting storyline and introduction of new characters who build on the previous story. I look forward to the next book and see what Bobby Diehl has planned for Harmony Black and the other members of the team. Definitely the second book was as good as the first.

Harmony Black's storyline continues to be great. Unlike Daniel Faust, harmony is a good person. Lucky, this doesn't stop her and her team from actually get things done and they aren't afraid to get dirty.
