Suspenseful story line that twists and turns the reader in many directions. Just when you think you've got the ending figured out you're pleasantly surprised with the authors creativity. This book may have political characters but don't be fooled, you don't have to enjoy politics to enjoy this book. I look to forward to the authors next book and now I will have to go back and read his first.

I liked Ghosts of Manhattan a little better. However, this one is a good read also. It took a minute to get the meaning ---at the end. But once it clicked, it clicked!! I like Brunt's writing style a lot.

Based on the outline, I started reading The Means with great anticipation. However, it is really not very good. One of the main characters, a TV reporter, is a thinly veiled profile/biography of the author's wife, Megyn Kelly. As an investigative reporter, not very credible.
The book is meant to be an inside baseball look at presidential politics. The two main characters, one a nasty, nasty and the other a goody, goody just don't seem very believable. There seems to be little depth to the character development.
All in all, not a very good, fulfilling read.

Great style with concrete details and action verbs, memorable characters, several times jarred by his use of singular antecedent incorrectly used with plural pronouns, e.g. If a person reads it,they will like it, this is biggest mistake in English usage today and ads especially show it, I would have thought a novelist would be the exception,

Interesting character development, storyline and twist at the end. Didn't want to put it down. The Means that individuals take to achieve a laudable goal have a light shined on them to show how easy human natures distorts integrity. Definitely worth he read.

I downloaded this book after seeing Megyn Kelly interviewing the author, her husband. I am a certified Fox News junkie.
The interview was the best part of this book. It's poorly written--it's full of typographical errors and switches between present and past tense (perhaps there is a reason for this, but I found it annoying.) The characters are poorly developed--we never learn anything about the reporter's personal life, for example. The ending is stupid.
I so wanted to like this book. I didn't

The Means was a good read but lacking in characterization. The writing was engaging. However, I never felt like I knew the main characters. It felt like the author was reporting on the characters and not giving you a personal insight or point of view of the characters. I like to feel like I am walking in a main characters shoes and this book did not lend well to that concept. Overall not a bad read, just hard to stay involved.

The language ruined a really good book.Using the Lord's name in vain is unacceptable and I can hardly tolerate the gutter
language of the F word being used five times on one page. This is one of the most profane books I've read.
