This continuation of the Blood Borne series was nonstop action all the way through. Very very enjoyable. I really like the two Ladies, and how they relate to each other. Looking forward to the next book in this series .

A good story that continues right where book 1 ends. There is no real ramification for Rachel revealing what happened. That vampires were real and everything else. The story follows tge same formula as book 1 almost to the T. Hunted enroute to a secret facility. Ivan was a nice addition to the group but even he didn't stop the feeling that men are evil that was in book 1

Each chapter is told from alternating points of view of the two women. In each chapter, one is referred to as "she" and the other as "I". I had to continually refer back to the beginning of the current chapter to see from which woman's point of view the story was currently being told. It was very distracting to the point I had trouble enjoying the book.
Rootbound (The Elemental Series Book 5) :: Ash (The Elemental Series Book 6) :: Fangs and Fennel (The Venom Trilogy Book 2) :: Rising Darkness: Book 9 (A Rylee Adamson Novel) :: Shadowed Threads (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book 4)

I like the new characters that were introduced in this second book in the series. However, the plot and villains do not live up to expectation. They're just very one dimensional. The book also seemed really short. The story line developed unrealistically fast. But I'm still a fan

The two first person POVs became more well-defined thanks to my increased familiarity with the characters, and the ending of RECOMBINANT wasn’t as far off-base as I’d originally thought which were great comebacks to my initial criticisms of book 1. The multiple “I” writing style is still not my favourite, but the addition of a couple of secondaries helped as did the fact that they were both male because nothing screams distraction like smexy werewolf!

REPLICA was a direct continuation of the story line from the first installment, so it’s definitely crucial that they be read in order. Also, it took me two volumes to nail down whether Lea or Rachel was the MC for a particular chapter—yes, they are labelled; however the transitions were still rather rocky, and when each lead is narrating the same scene except from their own perspective it’s extra confusing, then append two third person POVs to that…

Sambrook blows the lid off supernaturals to the general public via a newscast which should have been an life changing exposé, so I was bummed by how little attention this revelation actually received. Other than a few knee jerk reactions, the authors jumped straight to the main plot without really exploring any of its implications. It made me wonder why they even bothered if it was something that they were just going to sweep under the rug anyway.

I liked Ivan A LOT. He lightened the tension, and provided some much needed testosterone to this estrogen fueled novel. I love strong heroines, but when you have two type-A personalities on the same page it can turn into a catfight. I remain undecided about Antonio, and regrettably the introduction of these bachelors did lead to a of boatload insta lust. Furthermore, Rachel began this journey as human however, as a result of a twist, she’s now a special snowflake too.

REPLICA swapped out THE BLOOD BORNE series’ previous flaws with new ones. 3.5 Stars

I enjoyed REPLICA more than RECOMBINANT.

I was really glad to see that Rachel and Lea weren't separated like I thought they were at the end of RECOMBINANT. I wasn't sure how that would work and I am glad that I didn't have to find out. They still have a few kinks to work out, but they truly make a great team and I enjoy both of their characters.

The addition of two new character was a bit iffy at first, but one in particular grew on me fast and I hope he sticks around for books to come. I think there is definitely something there between them and one of our main girls. The other still hasn't won me over, but I think when we learn more about them they just might grow on me. Our other main girl might have something with them, but right now there she doesn't trust them enough to explore the spark.

The transition from scene to scene could have been smoother. This happened in RECOMBINANT with going from POV to POV, but with REPLICA it was event to event. There were more than a handful of times that I had to swipe back a page on my Kindle because I was reading and all of a sudden we were in another place or another day and I thought maybe I skipped a page on accident. I didn't, the transition was just too fast and the last even was left unfinished in my mind.

REPLICA did a good job of growing the characters and the Blood Borne world. The story moved at a much faster pace than book one, and the events had a lot of action to keep my mind pumping. The ending was pretty jaw dropping and I plan to read book three when it's available.

Replica is book two in the series by Shannon Mayer and Denise Grover Swank, and it's a terrific follow up to the book one, Recombinant! I'm always leery when I read a book by two different authors, and especially when I LOVE one of them and aren't too familiar with the second. But, in this case, it works. It works well!

Rach and Lea are back at the hunt for the elusive scientist who is bent on creating monsters. In this book though, we get to meet a few new characters who travel along with our girls and endear themselves to us.

The book is full of action, hardly a spot where there is some down time. Chases, supernatural villains, repeat monsters of one kind or another keep the story fresh and moving along at a steady pace. Backstory is revealed. Plot twists unfold. It's all there for your reading enjoyment.

The one thing that can get a little confusing at times is the swap in the story between characters points of view. Especially at the action packed parts, I had to go back and see who it was that was talking a few times. I think this is a testament to how well these two authors writing styles mesh and it's not a negative, just a commentary.

Overall, I think it's a great follow up and a good read that leaves you eager and waiting for book 3.

I was provided an ARC of Replica (The Blood Borne #2) in exchange for an honest review.

Replica picks right up where the two authors had left us hanging at the end of the first book in the series: Recombinant.

Rachel is revealing the existence of vampires and supernaturals to the world, while Lea takes off tracking down the vampire responsible for the horrific experiments both discovered in Recombinant.
The story takes us on a roller coaster where you never know which twist and turn is going to happen next or who is your enemy and who is your friend. Sometimes you don’t even know if Lea and Rachel are friends or enemies!
That all together with a fast paced action and adventure ride and you know that you wont put that book down until you finish it!
The writing of both authors is smooth and it is hard to tell who wrote which part.

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one to come out!

I really loved Replica and finished it in one sitting. The transitions between the two first person point of view characters was smoother than the first book, but still needs a little more work. However, the story itself is so superb I didn't mind the rocky transitions that did arise. I think as the two authors continue working together, they will figure it out.I think a good editor could really help point out the confusing pages, as it only needs a little tweaking to be perfect. I cannot wait for the next story because the world building is so great, the story line is extremely interesting, and it's not something I have read before. Stop reading reviews and just buy it already! ;)

Wow! WOW! And, WOWZA! How two authors manage to co-write with two characters who are so similar and so different and make it all blend so seamlessly is beyond me!

Rachel and Lea pick up shortly after where Recombinant left off. Rachel still doesn't realize the full extent of the bond she and Lea now share, and they are going their separate ways to try to fight the powers that be creating the unnatural supernatural creatures that now lurk in the shadows. Fate steps in though, and that's where it gets really interesting! Joined by two men who are almost as similar and different as Rachel and Lea - the women are now in a race against time and outside forces to shut down the Asclepius project.

I love the humor, (sarcasm), action, and emotions that are all a HUGE part of this series. Throw in supernatural creatures and you a have lure I am hopeless to resist!

I call this my comeback series. I did not enjoy the first book in the series and was hesitant to read this book, but I am so glad I did. The story flowed more seamlessly and I was more invested in the lives of these characters and excited to see what happens next.

I loved how Lea and Rachel are more kick but in this book, then the first. They refuse to let the government win and are willing to do anything, even sacrifice their self in order to protect the world. I also love the development of their friendship throughout this series. In the first book they uneasy allies, but in this book they really grow to trust and rely on each other.

I also loved the addition of Ivan and Tony. These two know how to push Lea and Rachel buttons, but in a good way. These two were much needed allies in the dark and crazy world Lea and Rachel find themselves thrust into. Can't wait to learn more about these mysterious guys and see how their relationship develops with our fearless ladies.

I did feel a little lost in the last 15% of the book. This was the big battle and escape section, but felt the execution was a bit messy and would often get lost on what was happening and how something could have happened. The writing became more choppy and felt disconnect between characters and story.

Overall I enjoyed this second book and can't wait to see how the story continues.

This is the second book in the Blood Borne series written by Denise Grover Swank and Shannon Mayer! If you have not read book 1 Recombinant, STOP and GET BOOK 1 NOW!!!
If you read Recombinant then you are more than ready for Replica!!! Lea and Rachel are teaming up to stop the evil forces of world. Guess what! Some hunky guys decide they need their help! As if! These girls don't need them, unfortunately these guys are as stubborn as they are hot! What kind of man can make a vampire all hot and bothered?? Read and find out! I loved watch the dynamic between Lea and Rachel grow along with their new relationships they find along the way!

I haven't read a lot of books by multiple authors, but the Blood Borne Series has been an enjoyable new experience. It's a great read, not only from a story standpoint, but as a writer standpoint. It's amazing to read how well the partnership works between the two authors. You can see that it is not only a combined effort, but an interaction between two characters and authors. It's a dialogue.

Having said that, the story itself is great too. With this second installment you get new characters and new facets of old characters. I love learning more about Rachel and Lea and watching them grow as individuals.

My only complaint is I want more hotness! I can't wait until the tension between the love interests finally pops. Can't wait for the next one!

This is book 2 of a series. PLEASE read Recombinant first to get the most of the series :-)
As an avid fan of Shannon Mayer, but not having read any of Denise Grover Swanks books I was a little nervous! I'm not one for change! Lol!
But I'm so pleased - it works!!! Both authors fulfill all my reading needs of action, tough women, fighting, sarcasm, supernatural and romance all bound up in a fast paced page turner!
The story of Rachel and Lea continues in Replica where new pieces of their story are revealed and new characters are seamlessly introduced to add depth to the plot. A great read. :-)

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!! REPLICA is better than RECOMBINANT! You will NOT be disappointed!! It was so hard to put this one down.

Replica starts right where Recombinant left off and you are thrown into action, secrets and a piece of hunk! There is one twist and turn after the other and it keeps this pace through the book. You'll want to slap, laugh and roll your eyes at some of the shenanigans but that's Rachel and Lea for ya.

Upon sitting on this I realized the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wanted it to be longer, to have more information so it wouldn't end, and really, isn't that the sign of a good book? That I want it all to be in one edition so I don't have to sit and wait anxiously for the next installment??

Anyway, here is my original review..

I feel bad giving this book 4 stars, but the truth is I loved the first one more (I know I am in the minority here). That is not to say I didn't enjoy this one, I really did. The writing is amazing and seamless; you would never know that two different authors were collaborating on this effort. I love the kick-ass no-nonsense team that Lea and Rachel make, the mythology is not so overwhelming that it fills the story so that it is still something that non-scifi readers will love.

I guess my only problem was I felt it was rushed, that details were skipped and sometimes the mythology was missing to the point I wasn't sure what was going on. Maybe it is because we are learning the mythology from Rachel's perspective and she still doesn't know very much. I wish there had been more detail I suppose, especially with new characters coming into play. Basically, I just wanted more. I guess it is a good thing there is more to come!

Overall, I love the series and think it is something that sci-fi lover or no, you will enjoy this series. Especially if you love strong female leads.

Replica was even more fun than Recombinant! Initially I was thinking there would be a decent gap in time from the end of Recombinant to the start of Replica, this was not the case. Replica nearly picks up where things left off, with new characters and lots of things happening. Replica keeps our girls on their toes and then some. As the ladies find themselves chasing down the bad guys and trying to save the world they meet new not always welcome friends who help them in their journey. They face plenty of obstacles while still figuring out who is on their side and who's not, including each other. Who do they trust to keep them alive and help stop the monsters, with their bond getting stronger and the tasks getting harder do Rachel and Lea have to chose who to keep close and who to hunt down.

Once again Shannon Mayer delivers another can't put it down read! I love this series. The only thing I do not like is that it is not long enough and the wait for the next book is unbearable! Similar to other books of hers, she keeps the story moving at a fast pace with plenty of twists and turns. throw in a a couple of sexy men that make you drool and its a non-stop roller coaster of action! I can't wait for the next one!

I received an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review, I don't take that lightly either.

What an amazing power these 2 brilliant authors have. To each take a character and bring them to life in continuity with the one story. I'm simply amazed.

The story of Recombinant continues in this book, Replica. Still chasing after Stravinsky, the Cazador-turned-vampire (Lea) and the war reporter turned world savior (Rachel), set out to find and destroy the man whose seemingly sole purpose in life is to make abominations out of innocent people. For fun and for profit, it would seem.

We meet a couple new characters in this book. One is a hard headed, yet lovable Werewolf named Ivan. He's something else. Then there's Antonio. He's a human Cazador, seeking to eliminate the vampire race. He takes a shine to Rachel.

This duo make the best, unbeatable team. Both in and out of the book.
