There was interesting world-building, and the magic was interesting, but so much of the writing and plot was cringe-worthy. There were plenty of times, especially in the beginning of the book, when I couldn't believe how contrived the choice of words was, and a lot of the plot had my scratching my head because it didn't make sense.

Great introduction of young Larkspur. We get to see where she comes from and how she begins her journey to become "The Destroyer". Great writing and a real page turner as to be expected from Shannon Mayer. She really gives us great stories and characters. I can't wait for the nest installment in this series!

I loved this book! Shannon Mayer did an excellent job in writing this story. Lark has suck a big heart and all she wants in return is love from her family. She is viewed as an outcast and everyone can relate to that. If you like the Rachel Morgan( Hallows series) books you will love Shannon Mayer's books!
Tracker (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book 6) :: Dark Fae: Book 3 (Celtic Legacy Series) :: Sundered (Anniversary Edition) (The Nevermore Trilogy Book 1) :: Destroyer (The Elemental Series Book 7) :: Blood of the Lost (A Rylee Adamson Novel Book 10)

I was thrilled to see that Shannon Mayer was starting a new series. I immediately connected with Lark and fell in love with the, rich, nature-filled Elemental World. The story was intriguing, the characters well developed, and kept you guessing. I could not put the book down and look forward to reading more about Lark, her World and following her adventures to her ultimate destiny.

Lark is a nobody who has no elemental power. Although she doesn't remember, her mother and brother were murdered by the queen and her henchmen. She cannot reside in the castle with the rest of the family, as she is a bastard and useless. No one believes a word she says.
Ash is an Ender.....assigned to ensure she fails to become like him. But how did she lose her power and what does she have to do to protect her family? The queen is evil and conspires to take over. She plots the kings death, as well as most of the guards. Who stands with Lark?
Lark will have to fight to embrace and recurve her powers. Fascinating book with a vivid imagination. The characters are every bit a part of your life as you read their story.
Read on my friends.

Shannon Mayers Brain must be the most creative place to be!!
It is beyond me how she keeps up with all of these storylines and she does it well!!
This book was exciting, enthralling, and had me strapped in for a ride I didn't even know I was about to go on.
I've already bought the second book in this series!

Kudos to Shannon! Another hit series! Nevermore and the Celctic series are next! After reading the Rylee Adamson series this series helps explain the elemental characters even more. Can't read them fast enough! ? ? ?

The heroine in this book is everything you expect in a fantasy novel, tough, kind, strong and fearless. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. A nice mix of Elementals and the human world living side by side. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

The characters are compelling and the story line a wonderful mesh of fantasy and reality literally and figuratively speaking. A story of working through self doubt and where the odds are against you. Perseverance and ethics woven into a great fantasy fiction novel.

It really captures your attention a few pages in and it doesn't slow down but written perfectly. Larkspurs life is just action filled and is never a normal day. Excited to see her grow. Rooting for her the entire way just hoping she can do it and excited to see her do more!

Very easy to track. Excellent story line with just the right amount of plot twist to keep you guessing. A hero I could identify with, making logical decisions and understandable mistakes. Going to invest in the future of Lark and see where she leads me.
Thanks Shannon great story!

Pretty. Cool.
Reminds me of Katness and mockingjay - and that is not a bad thing.
For me - I would have loved a bit more romance, but I guess you can't have it all.
At least I Got a KICKASS HEROINE!!

A wonderful new view into the Rylee Adamson universe. Larkspur is an elemental with a tragic past who is looking for answers and her place within her realm. Her adventure keeps you engrossed till the final page. I look forward to continuing this series.

Surprisingly this book kept my interest even when I got it as a stop gap from reading my favorite authors. Well now I have another favorite. This book is one of a few that except for the store I would have never read, I'm glad I did.

Yep another great series from Shannon Mayer. I was caught up from the beginning, in fact I only planned on reading a chapter or two and ended up finishing it in the middle of the night. If it was paperback I would call this a page turner. I can't wait for the second book to see what Lark faces next!

Great series. Filled with adventure and twists and turns. It kept me glued to the pages and I'm eagerly awaiting Fire Storm. Good to buy a book at such a reasonable price and still be happy with the purchase.

I've read and loved all of Shannon Mayers books. This one was no different! Recurve is a great start to what I hope is a long series. There are several strong characters with tons of potential to take this story in many directions and I can't wait to see where it goes. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys paranormal, fantasy stories. You'll be hooked!

I really enjoyed this spin-off of the Rylee Adams series. I thought the book flowed very smoothly with good pacing and kept me interested the entire time. Ms. Mayer's writing has definitely continued to improve as she develops.

Good and evil are clearly defined in the main characters. Control of secondary characters depends on who is in charge at any given moment. I will be interested in the next book, seeing where things go from here.

A great intro to the Elementals, Larkspur is a strong character that, like Timex, 'takes a licking and keeps on ticking'. Her characterization isn't quite as powerful as Rylee's, but then, we have had longer to get to know Rylee. A great first entry into the story arc, and I look forward to continuing the relation.

Larkspur is destined to follow in the magnificent footsteps of Rylee and the crew. While the characters, places, and events are totally unique, remember, Shannon Mayer wrote this! Prepare yourself for an exciting adventure.

the plot moves well, the characters are fairly well developed.... her choice of words is a little off sometimes.... this one is written better than the first one I read and I will read more of what she writes....

Recurve is just the beginning of a great new series from the AWESOMENESS that is Shannon Mayer! From her Sundered series to The Elemental Series, and everything in between, Shannon Mayer is a force to be reckoned with.

I'm super excited about this series! I love Shannon Mayer anyway with her Rylee series, and this series doesn't disappoint. Great characters, great storyline, great everything! Can't wait for the next one!

The story was interesting, and I feel like if there was more detail to the world and the characters the book would be really something. As it stands now, some of the character and plot development didn't sit all that well with me. For instance, there seemed to be holes between the dialogue of the main character and her father, especially towards the end. It seemed shotty, but otherwise the ideas in the book were really intriguing.

Loved this book, knowing this also ties into the Rylee Adamson stories makes it great. What I love though is how she keeps separate from Rylee but you can see where it will eventually tie in later. This is worth the read, also will give you a look into the beginnings of O'Shea.

Was a good book, definitely could have spent more time developing the characters and letting the plot play out. I did pre-order the next book, so hopefully as the series continues this development will take place.

Shannon Mayer has done it again! A new refreshing series of strength, resilience and hope. Blackout is going to be a kick ass heroine. Recurve is great introduction into a magical place in the redwoods.
