Thoroughly enjoyed Dan, Emma and Clark’s journey of second contact. Mr Falconer’s characters are very well developed and his storylines always keep you guessing. So happy the saga will continue with book 3!

Read the second book because I figured I must have missed something in the first novel. Nope. The second book was just as ridiculous as the first. Boring, confusing and filled with endless repetitive dialogue, this thing is, literally, a fine substitute for waterboarding. I have no one to blame but myself. And guess what? The author says there is going to be another sequel. Really. At least, I understand why these first two cost a grand total of three dollars and change.
The Unkillable Kitty O'Kane: A Novel :: new and revised edition (Classical Historical Fiction Book 2) :: Daughter of the Nile (Classic Historical Fiction Book 3) :: the story of Cortes and La Malinche (Classic Historical Fiction Book 4) :: Isabella: Braveheart of France

The author graciously sent me an ARC of this novel
"This is one of the best sci fi books I've read." This was the first line in my review of NOT ALONE. Waiting for this sequel took ages, but reading the first paragraph, Falconer brought us right to the action. After being proven correct that we really aren't alone, Dan McCarthy was finally validated. No longer being pegged a dreamer, liar, etc. Dan and his brother Clark, dad Henry, and Emma Ford settled in to their lives before contact. Suddenly, at the same time, Dan and Emma felt a searing pain from where the aliens had made contact with them through a cable in their necks. Dan knew in an instant -- they were coming back. With an asteroid headed straight for earth, people immediately thought the aliens again were hostile, despite Dan's insistence that they were peaceful. Through ups and downs, travels all over the country, taking along old friends and meeting new ones, NOT ALONE : SECOND CONTACT takes you on adventure after adventure until the thrilling finish. You will not want to put down this long awaited sequel, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

For reference... here's what we said about bk1...
I was really quite pleased with Craig's tale of international intrigue and aliens, and a not-quite average guy who precipitated the whole mess... I rather enjoyed the narration by J.P.Cronin as well. the only point on which I find fault, is that at around the 3/4 completed point, the story starts to drag a bit... Until the Very Cool revelation at the end! Get it, enjoy it, and thank me later! Lol...
I Loved this book!!! A year has passed, and once again Dan finds himself embroiled in an alien intervention...
This story throws us back into a tale of intense national, and international intrigue... keeping me on the edge of my seat! Unlike the first book, there wasn't any part of Second Contact that dragged on...
Once again J.P Cronin proved that he was the right choice for the task of narrating this epic novel!

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book from the author. The sequel to Not Alone does not disappoint. If you have not read Not Alone, stop what you're doing and go buy and read it before you read this book, you will not regret it! This sequel is a long read, but not to a fault. I appreciated that Falconer didn't start out with a ton of catching up from the previous book. The important details that you need to know or remember were included pretty seamlessly while diving in to a new story line and by the end of part 1 you will be caught up on the relevant points you need to remember and be hooked on the new story! The dynamic between the characters is more of a focus in this book particularly with Dan and Emma. And all the old characters from the first book make an appearance as well. You get to know Timo and Clark better, along with all of the politicians. This is not a predictable read, there are a few twists and turns throughout the story that you will not see coming. Overall, a very fun read that picks up pace as it moves along. A great story!

I was hooked from the first “ Not Alone” book and this second book fulfilled the promise created. It’s a good guy finishes RIGHT kind of story with lots of crazy political backstabbing, Alien cover-up, reveal. First contact, second contact, there’s enough to make your head spin. Keeping secrets that could rock the world keeps the heads one hearts of the main characters Dan and Emma spinning and everyone in their periphery gets caught up in the crazy spin as well. If you like alien conspiracy and first contact stories with believable characters that are well defined and utterly relatable then you WILL enjoy the “Not Alone” books as much as I did.

Craig A. Falconer has done it again-this time with the sequel to his highly acclaimed “Not Alone.”
We get much the of the first but with more extraterrestrial contact.
The extraterrestrials weigh whether to intervene or not to intervene? And, if the former is chosen over the latter, the question then becomes, how much is appropriate and what far reaching implications will it have.
Their attempts to assist felt clear to them but less so to those experiencing it.
How often is this true in our own communications with others? We think we are demonstrating clarity and consistency only to find we are not. How often have we entertained the thought that another MUST be from another planet, so alien is their thought process to us:)
This book highlights this through the introduction of an actual alien race that is as alien to us as we are to them.
I felt the characters frustration with wanting more-more connection, more understanding, more intervention-and having to do without it. I really wanted them to be more than they really were. And, I honored their right to be as their are. I really did not guess the author’s intent throughout any of this book:)
I appreciated the redemption of most of the characters. It is a reminder that all persons have positive aspects. When we allow for this possibility, we experience this possibility. How someone is in one moment may not be how they are in the next. We have the potential for great dynamism of being.
My take aways from this book:
Everything makes sense from someone’s perspective.
If we can look at things outside the lens of good or bad, we free ourselves to experience them as they actually are.
We always do the best that we can with the skills and the knowledge we have at the time.
People are dynamic. So, too, can their choices be.
The author Kindly allowed me to read an ARC copy without an obligation to review. Please know, all thoughts are my own. As they always are.

I just finished reading a pre-release ARC copy of “Not Alone: Second Contact,” by Craig A. falconer. I am giving this book 5 Stars, as I did his other books. Truly, this man knows the art of storytelling! Again, Dan and Emma take center stage throughout the book, joined by a whole host of other characters you will come to love, or hate! As someone who loves to read a really good book, one theme really stands out...just as you think you know what is about to happen, you will be jolted into the next chapter by a shocking change of events! The book is very well written...believable enough to have come from the pages of the morning newspaper. Once you start reading, you won’t want to put it down!

I enjoyed “Not Alone” so I jumped at the chance to read “Not Alone: Second Contact”. Sad to say, I was very disappointed in the sequel. I don’t do Spoilers so I’ll just explain my Two Star rating: the book was way too wordy and didn’t give many details for the “Second Contact”. Will “Third Contact” be better? I hope so!

I loved this book, even more than the first one. And I want to thank the author for his subdued homage to the 1983 War Games movie in Dan McCarthy's response to William Godfrey's insistence at Richard Walker's memorial service that Dan could win if he chose a career in politics, "The only way to win is to not play." That line really brought a smile to my face and a warm feeling in my heart as I fondly recalled that line from the movie. Thank you, Craig Falconer for a wonderful time reading this sequel.

This books is fairly well written, the characters are believable and the plot is very imaginative with plenty of twists. I can honestly say that I couldn't really predict where they were going at any point. I very much enjoyed the fact that both books are decently long, and he didn't break them up to try to milk the plot. In other words they are both complete stories. I can certainly recommend them to fans of science fiction.

This was a very enjoyable follow up to Not Alone. Both are well written with strong character development and Not Alone: Second Contact is a welcome sequel that fits nicely with the first book. While it can stand alone you will enjoy it more if you read Not Alone first. One point I really appreciated was the "elders" were not some all knowing omniscient beings that are often seen in stories like this. The author has indicated a third book is coming out at the end of the year and I look forward to reading it.

I loved the of the characters between books and chapters. The constant switching between the story viewpoint take a bit of conscious memory of the characters from the last steam
This is a harder read and takes a very interesting perspective. I’d say that a understanding of geo-politics is needed.
I give any book that I finish in 8 hours a 5 star!

I don't usually write reviews because they all seem to sound the same. But, I had to write one for this. Both this and the precursor held me spellbound. I could scarcely put either one down. I loved everything about them - the story premise, the characters and their development, the twists and turns... True and total entertainment!
