Drew Hayes' third installment in Fred the Vampire Accountant doesn't disappointed except for that fact that it was over too soon. Also, the formatting was weird in the last chapter in the Kindle version.

I really enjoyed the first two books. This is not up to par with them I found myself annoyed by vacuous sentences, poor word choices; I don't remember if the first two had the same problem - if they did, the story was engaging enough that I didn't notice.
There isn't much to the plot here; not much happens for almost half the book. The only reason I finished it is that I won't give up on the series based on a misstep.

I thought the author redeemed himself somewhat with book 2 after the snorefest that was book 1, but book 3 is starting to piss me off in its own way now. Mainly with how RIDICULOUSLY non-confrontational Fred is. A guy with a useless gun trying to hunt vampires chases him around and Fred just lets him do what he wants OVER AND OVER AGAIN....
Fred has basically become one of those super-sissy protagonists that refuse to harm anyone no matter the reason. This goes beyond non-confrontational, it's reckless endangerment. The guy will happily lead a vicious killer with an arsenal of guns on a chase through crowded streets, but refuses to so much as break the guys hands to disarm him when the chance is presented. This is the sort of hypocrite idiot who would be fine with a school full of children getting killed as a result of his BS mercy, as long as he can justify himself as "not having directly caused any of the damage."

This was yet another sweet, light, funny, enjoyable audiobook in the Fred series. It's getting harder for me to review them though since I've liked the same things every time. Fred is definitely a unique, atypical sort of vampire, but that's what makes him so likeable. The found family aspect is great too. I also thought it was neat getting to see a vampire hunter from a vampire's perspective. There are lots of books/movies/shows in which hunters just go around killing any creature they find, but just because someone is paranormal, that doesn't means they're a monster. Oh, also, I would totally read a book about Arch. Anyone who can sit at a table pointing a gun at hostile vampires with one hand and casually eat his meal with the other is someone I want to know more about lol. Anyway, these are not the most action-packed or gripping books out there, but they're definitely enjoyable to listen to!

Not really in the vein of previous books. Got through the first "fight" scene. It's... pacifist sissy foofoo garbage. The MC has been nerfed to below sub-human levels. He's essentially a goblin-slug now. Less than half the vampire he was at the start of book one. Maybe 1/16th. He gets hunted by the human-equivalent of the WB ACME spokes-Coyote. The author attempted to write around how dumb this looks and failed, so SUMMON TELEPORTING MAGIC FLYING VAMPIRE-HUNTING TAXI and now he has a HARPOON GUN! No. No no no no no no. That's when I realized I was on the short bus, and demanded to flee from this. Don't know if this is supposed to stretch beyond three books, but I seriously wish (right there was where I realized I actually can get a refund). I have never demanded a refund for an e-book before, so that's something at least. This is an honest review. Thus the three stars. Writing is fine, I know the author is an awesome writer, and this was going somewhere. Maybe he decided to skip the adderall, a comprehensive outline, and beta readers for this particular book. I don't know. But this was not the book I intended to purchase when I thought I was purchasing Book 3 of Fred the Vampire Accountant. This was Jar-jar Binks author-brain-fart self-fan-fiction. Reminds me of the Robot Chicken Star-wars special. Vader explains the plot holes prequel concepts to Luke, "Look man, if you're not going to try, I'm out."

Featuring an oddly appealing but rather mild accountant as a main character, this series is still fun in an understated way. The hidden world of parahumans is interesting if not too original, and most of the characters are pleasant. There is humor and pretty decent observation of human nature (even when observing magical creatures).
This third book pretty much requires to be read in sequence. By this time, there is not so much novelty in the book, and not that much character development, so most of the appeal is in observing familiar characters deal with obstacles. I enjoyed it, but some may find it repetitive.

The third book in the Fred, vampire accountant series is another great addition to the series. The book is well written and I love how the author mixes in action, humor and storytelling. The same cast of characters are back with a few new ones added in. You never know quite where the tale will take you next but it will always be an adventure. I can’t wait for the next in the series to be made into an audiobook!

There is something to be said about good friends and having a job you enjoy. Putting both together in a paranormal setting isn't easy, but the author makes it work. I'm about as far from an accountant as you can get, but I have enjoyed all three books, and hope to enjoy many more tales of Fred.

As a recovering accountant, I cannot get enough of Fred and his crew. The stories are fun and Drew really makes it so you care about the characters. I was sad when I finished the book and I will miss Fred and everyone else until the next book comes out.

I could not complete the sample. The first scene shows MC as super wuss. By ending of last book, he did some crazy stuff, was supposed to have gotten crazy power. But when this books starts, its like all gone!
I get it that he is supposed to me an accountant, but after 2 books when he is supposed to have done some crazy stuff, just regressing to a wuss MC really irked me. For me MC is supposed to kich ass, but get it kicked.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the book a lot. However, I feel compelled to lower the stars to three simply due to the fact that the book is short.
Very short. Longer than a short story, true, but still very much short on stuff happening. There are two major events in the book, and a lot of background detail. Satisfying detail. Quality detail, which makes one happy with the book. Things were done by Fred in this book that I wished him to do -- that is no mean praise. Things that happened to him were stimulating to fantasy and made me curious about the book's universe.
But then... a couple of new interesting characters and episodes, some clever wrangling of stuff. Reads more like a prologue to a real book, despite the number of pages.
