This story is a fun twist of the Cinderella tale, with Audrey, the evil stepmother, Senator Glenn as the fairy godmother, Aria as Cinderella and Henry as prince charming. Aria and Henry meet in a funny way and the story remains enjoyable from there on. While there were times where I wanted to be able to swoop in and save Aria from her blackmailing stepmother, I knew it would never be that easy and didn't want to put the book down to see how she would get herself out of this mess. There are plenty of sweet moments throughout this story to offset the moments of devastation and despair as Aria struggles to find a way out of her predicament. And the chemistry between Aria and Henry is wonderful. I've read other stories by Krista Lakes and I enjoyed them as much as this.

Sweet & Sexy! A beautiful modern retelling of Cinderella. This is a Swoon worthy Romance that is full of sweet, young, tender, love, sizzling chemistry, and plenty of heat with a fairytale HEA twist.
Great love stories have one thing in common, and that is the author’s exquisite ability at storytelling. An American Cinderella transforms from a simple love story to one that captivates readers with its emotion, conviction and vitality. Krista Lakes’ beautifully, written, love story is a instant read, and a story you won’t be able to put down. Sweet, Charming, Sexy with plenty of heat served with a twist to amp up the drama, I thoroughly enjoyed every word.

Cinderella always comes with a wicked stepmother and this rendition is no different. Aria is looking up at the Washington monument when Henry runs into while playing frisbee. Her hateful stepmother, Audrey got her fired from her job working for a senator and has gotten her moved to a trade relations office where she worked years ago while in college. Audrey is blackmailing Aria to look for trade information about the country where Henry lives so she can sell it to get money to support her lifestyle. Henry starts courting Aria and they are developing deep feelings for each other. Aria has a problem about betraying Henry and Audrey is pressuring her. Different version was entertaining.

If you like retelling of fairy tales you are going to love An American Cinderella. Aria is our Cinderella who lost her mother as a child and her father a few years ago. Her stepmother got her fired as an assistant to the Senator so that she could steal documents for her. She threatened to blacken her fathers name if se didn't. Henry is a young man that she met on her way back to her old job and as a result the two developed a relationship that turned into so much more but they were keeping secrets from each other. When the light is shed on their secrets, will it break them apart? This story is filled with dramatic twists and turns at every page and will have you engrossed for hours. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Yes, this is a modern take on the original Cinderella, complete with Prince Charming, wicked step-mother and step-sister, and even a godmother. This Cinderella is named Aria and she lives and works in Washington D.C. She doesn’t know that the man who knocks her over in all ways is a Prince, and he falls in love with her because she treats him like a man instead of this station in life. But we do have the wickedness of the original story, fully outlined in Krista Lakes new tale.

This modernized version is well written and fun to read. It’s timely as it goes right to the heart of today’s political games in Washington DC. It’s my favorite version of modern Cinderella yet. I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. This story is timely with the upcoming Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle. This is a very modern take on Cinderella with a political twist. The author made a wonderful story that is hard to put down, believable and could happen in real life. The story is very empowering to females without letting the romance suffer. Henry meets Aria by bumping into her and tries to make up for it by bringing her lunch the next day at her new job. Aria has an evil step mom, who is blackmailing her for her own nefarious gain. This is a sweet, romantic, steamy story with a bit of edge to it interesting. Definitely feel good story with a fabulous happily ever after ! ❤️❤️❤️???

An American Cinderella by Krista Lakes in a modern re-telling of the famed classic fairy-tale with a bit of a new twist to the story. The narrator, Aria Ritter, the daughter of late Senator Ritter, takes us along as she finds love with Henry Prescott, Prince of Paradisa. This insta-love story is sweet with a build-up to the Paradisian Masquerade Ball - the climax - in my opinion at least - of the story. And we are even given a bit of history on the ball and it's significance to Paradisa and Henry.
Krista Lakes provides us with plenty of characters for us to fall in love with, such as the surrogate father to Aria, Gus.
Despite several shortcomings that I felt weakened the story, it was a charming, enjoyable read.

The original Cinderella story is my all time favorite Disney movie. I loved this Cinderella story Krista has thought up. A wicked stepmother who will do anything to get what she wants and reminds Aria she’s nothing to her. A lazy stepsister and of course Prince Charming. Henry sweeps her off her feet literally. They date for weeks and she don’t know who he really is. Aria feels like she is in a bad dream until she meets him. He makes her laugh and to truly feel love again.
A fun loving book that will keep you reading wondering what Aria will do. Give her stepmom what she wants or get herself out of it. Pick up the book it’s a great read.

I wasn't overly impressed with this book.  It was a lot boring and then rushed. I dis like the character Henry but Aria was frustrating and weakish. I mean come on she really should've told someone sooner. That was very disappointing.  Gus was awesome.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review:
This is a modern retelling of a classic story and I really liked how the author spun the story around government espionage. Henry and Aria had great chemistry and an especially sweet "meet cute." I would've have liked a little more background on her relationship with her stepmother, beyond the trope that stepmothers are evil. Sadly, I only gave this book three stars for only one reason -- the rushed ending to the movie. The author quickly plowed through resolution of several plot lines with very little conflict among the main characters. This was nowhere near believable. She wound together a great story then ruined it by rushing the ending.

Aria is a modern Cinderella hard working with a contemptible and truly dishonest stepmother. After losing her job to her stepsister – due to stepmother I might add Aria is jobless and forced to start her career at the bottom again. The day did get better she meets her prince, but then it got a whole lot worse. How Aria didn’t just kill the witch is a wonder. This was full of characters you can love and others who are just evil. I enjoyed the story, it is a bit longer than most of the books I review, but it was worth the time it took to read. Don’t fear it has a Happy ever after just like a fairy tale should. I did receive a free copy of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily chose to review it

Aria is a modern day Cinderella who has had a harder life after her father passed away and her wicked stepmother is determined to make it even harder and force Aria to give her trade secrets that could lead Aria to be prosecuted. While trying to figure a way out of helping her wicked stepmother Aria is literally run over by the most handsome, charming, totally hot Henry Prescott. Little does Aria know that Henry is not who she thinks but he could be the answer to her prayers. Will Aria let Henry help her win and take down her stepmother or will she just continue to take the verbal abuse and never get out from under her stepmother's thumb?

A nice whirlwind romance. Henry and Aria fall in love rather quickly. Aria just cannot escape her evil stepmother. Aria is finally in a position that’ll lead to her dream job when her stepmother snatches it away and blackmails her. Henry becomes the light in her life. Henry keeps his true identity, as a prince, from Aria, but he is thrilled when she falls in love with him as a man and not because he’s a prince. Henry saves her. This book is nice, but it didn’t really grab me until about half way through. I felt myself skimming the pages in the first half because nothing was happening. This is a good book and a great Cinderella story with a happy ending.

Aria and Henry. This version of Cinderella, and one you should not dare pass up reading. I know there are many watered down versions of the Cinderella storyline. This one is unique, and who doesn’t love a prince who finds love with a girl who has family trying to make her her life miserable?! And did I say a very hot version as well! It’s Audrey her nasty stepmom (gives stepmoms a bad name) basically is blackmailing Aria in the political world. Does it feel real? Yes! It’s why I so enjoyed this story. I fell in love with Henry and Aria, hope we can see more of their story. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to them. An amazing story and needs to be on everyone’s must read list.

This modern fairy tale drew me in from the beginning. There are some definite similarities to "Cinderella", but Krista puts hers own romantic spin on the story. The immediate chemistry between Aria and Henry is obvious. She falls in love with him not knowing he's a prince. They have a sweet, sugar coated relationship, with so many sparks. Aria even has an evil stepmother, who truly lives up to her title. I loved hating her throughout the story. In the end there's even a fairy godmother!!

I've read so many Krista Lakes books, and this easily tops my list of a quick, sweet romance. Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this book! I love Cinderella, it’s one of my favourites of all time!
Henry was such a dream! A real “price charming”!!! I wouldn’t mind one just like him!!!
And Aria was really refreshing and sweet! Great idealistic ideas and a huge heart!
The perfect pair! So so cute and perfect for each other!
The “evil stepmother” is cringe worthy and hate and fury inspiring! Hated her!
And I really enjoyed the other little similarities between the Disney classic and this story!
Like Gus the security guard and Jaqui the friend! So cute!!!!
Highly recommend!!!

I love fairytale retellings! I love Royal romance stories! This book was both.
A wonderful modern spin on the beloved story of Cinderella. Everything was included a wicked step mother, a nasty stepsister, a "fairy godmother" and a swoonworthy prince, even a dropped item as she ran from the ball!
I adored Henry and Aria's whirlwind love story. They clicked and were perfect together. It was the outside forces that threatened their sweet romance. She wasn't forced to clean she was forced into political espionage. That stepmother was truly a piece of work!
This is the first I have read from this author and will definitely look for more.

An American Cinderella is a modern day Cinderella story set in political climate of Washington D.C. Aria is the quintessential Cinderella. She is sweet and kind, purposeful in doing the right thing despite the evil stepmother’s despicable manipulations which often had my heart pounding in anticipation of what evilness was coming next. Henry a Prince from the nation of Paradisa but he went by a assumed name when he traveled. He ran into Aria when he was playing Frisbee with his bodyguard. Aria and Henry's story steals your heart. Beautiful and sexy fairy tale, and of course great HEA.

I received an ARC for this book. The story includes an ordinary girl, a prince, an evil stepmother and a lazy stepsister. I loved the book. Aria meets Henry when he runs into her and knocks her down. They begin a relationship and she doesn't know that he is a Prince. Her stepmother begins to blackmail Aria for top secret information regarding Henry's country. She eventually tells Henry about the blackmail because she knows that her stepmother will only use the information to hurt him. Will they be able to devise a plan to keep Aria and Henry safe and result in her stepmother's arrest?
I loved the book and would recommend it to everyone.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was the first book that I have read by this author and really enjoyed it. This was an interesting spin on the fairy tale, Cinderella. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Aria has had a rough day. She was fired from her job working for a Senator. All because her stepmother wants her to go back to her old job and gave her daughter, Aria's stepsister, her position at the Senator's office. While standing in front of the Washington Monument, she is knocked down by Henry. They start dating but they both have some secrets. Will the secrets destroy their chance at love?

This is a modern spin to the classic fairytale, Cinderella. It is a fun, sexy romance between Prince Henry and Aria. These two have a great connection and obvious attraction. The build up of the sexual tension between them, and the predictable premise to help force them into each other’s orbit is extremely entertaining. This fast-paced story with instant insane chemistry that's sexy to read does not disappoint. The author's writing style is easy to read, with a good balance of angst and humorous banter between her characters and hot sex scenes.

This was such a sweet wonderful book! Aria meets Henry because her Step-mother gets her fired from her job and back at the job she had 7 years ago. But Henry running into her was the only good part of that day. Henry becomes her only good part of most days as her step-mother is blackmailing her. Aria doesn't know that Henry is actually a prince but when she does find out she runs thinking she will only bring him down because of her step-mother. I don't wanna say anymore and give anything away but this is a must read! I was pulled in and couldn't put it down! I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Aria has wanted to work in a senator’s office for years (her deceased father was a senator) but her step-mother gets her fired to get her own daughter in the position.
Aria, while reminiscing about her father is run into by a second string rugby player, Henry. Both Henry and Aria are sweet and attracted to each other...they fall in love...but there are half truths, manipulations and a danger they miss out on their happily ever after.
It’s so important to me to like the H and h in a story to become emotionally involved...such is the case in this story.

An American Cinderella by Krista Lakes is a wonderful book. I absolutely love Aria and Henry, both as individuals and as a couple. Like any Cinderella, Aria has an evil stepmother hell bent on ruining her life. But unbeknownst to Aria, she has already found her Prince Charming in Henry, the man she believes to be a simple businessman from Paradisa. When Aria’s stepmother threatens to tear apart everything Aria and Henry have built, it’s time for this Cinderella to fight back!! This is a great read, but don’t take my word for it, read it and find out for yourself

An American Cinderella by Krista Lakes was a delightful read. You had to just love Aria who had such a huge heart. Her mother passed when she was so very young and her father remarried. Her step-mother was such a controlling, mean woman. She met Henry when he bowled her over chasing a Frisbee. He ended up bringing her lunch and they seemed to enjoy spending time together. Her step-mother was such a manipulator that she got Aria fired from her job and moved to her old job that she had before college as she was blackmailing her to steal documents for her. This was a great modern retelling of Cinderella. This story follows "Cinderella", her wicked stepmother, stepsister, and fairy godmother. Aria is a young woman who cherishes her father. After his death, she tries to follow in his footsteps and begins to work as a senator's aide. Her job is taken away from her thanks to her stepmother who weaseled her way into her work life. Upon going for a walk to decide what to do with her life, she stumbles into Henry Prescott. What she doesn't know if that he is really a prince. Can Aria and Henry works through the secrets they are keeping from each other and find a happily ever after? I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Taking on the classic Cinderella story can be a crap shoot as everyone knows it. Krista Lakes takes this classic story, modernizes it and makes it a great read. There are no disappointments here. The story is well written and has that magnetic flare that pulls the reader into the story and doesn't spit them out until it is complete. This story contains all the classic stops of love, betrayal and the good versus evil events. I curled up on a cold and rainy day to read this book and it was a great way to spend the day.

An American Cinderella is the story of Penny, a young, single woman who is working hard to make a name for herself in DC while she honors her late father's memory. Penny's life couldn't get any more chaotic, when she is literally knocked down by her own Prince Charming, who is hiding his own secrets. And to make matters worse, she is blackmailed by her stepmother, a powerful Information Broker in DC politics.

I was lucky enough to receive an advance readers copy of this book. All I can say is WOW. I could not put this book down!

Aria is a woman who wants to make this world a better place, but her evil stepmother always has to ruin it. On a particularly low day Aria meets handsome Henry, and the fairytale begins! Their whirl wind romance is put to the test when Henry has a huge secret he's been keeping from Aria. Little does Henry know that Aria also has a secret of her own.

This book is a must read if you dream of happily ever afters. The characters are super relatable. You will fall in love with Henry instantly.

Modern day Cinderella! Truly one of my favorite Disney princesses then and now. Aria lost her father whom she truly adored and is left with a "wicked step mother of course who is only looking out for herself. Aria moved up in her career as a Senator's aid but goes into work to find out that she has been fired, which are the doing's of her evil stepmother.

After leaving her lost job she is walking around the Washington Monument and runs into a handsome business man/rugby player named Henry. Little does she know Henry is a royal, a prince who is line for the throne. This book will leave you wanting more.

Certainly a modern day Cinderella and another must ready by Krista Lakes. Loved this book!!

This was a great retelling of the classic Cinderella fairy tale. Although I think in some ways this book made the wicked stepmother even worse than the original! There are just two things I think could have helped this story. First, I wish the author had written the evil stepsister into the story instead of just having her mentioned occasionally. Secondly, I would have like details on what happened to the stepmother after she was caught with the documents.
Aria and Henry made a terrific couple, perfect for a fairy tale romance. Hope to see stories in the future for Henry's brothers.

Aria life is a mess thanks to her awful controlling stepmother. Forced to work as a clerk scanning so her step mom can get information. On the day she goes to apply for the job she is litterly ran over by a gorgeous man. Henry Prescott is a business man and 2nd string rugby player for the Paradise Royals. These two have an intense connection but when Aria finds out that he really is Prince Henrey 2 nd in one for the throne of Paradisa. Did he lie about everything or just who he was and what going to happen when he finds out her step wants info on his country and will do anything to get.

The retelling of Cinderella with a modern twist. With the royal wedding coming soon I was excited to read this new book. While I enjoy the retelling of fairy tales I was disappointed in the character Aria, she was TSTL at times and I thought at times good she is going to get what she deserves because she lets her stepmother walk all over her. The other thing is with this being a modern story she should be able to find out who Henry was just by looking him up online. Even with those flaws I enjoyed this light read.

I really liked this book. I thought the political twist was new and refreshing. I loved the close friendships you got to see in this book. I loved how Aria was trying so hard to stay true to herself and protect her dad. Henry truly is a knight in shining armor and helps her do the right thing. It’s a very sweet read. My one criticism is the ending. I would have like a few more chapters showing how everything ended with Audrey and how things played out as far as Arias new life. If she is living in Paradisa what is she doing? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Loved this sweet romance. Aria and Henry "run" into each other and Henry wants to make it up to her through lunch. Henry finds himself attracted to Aria but Aria is dealing with hard situations with her family. Her mother is asking her to commit a crime to save her deceased father's image. Aria loves her father and strives to be just like him. Henry a prince falls for Aria but the crime she needs to commit involves his family and Aria doesn't want to involve him. This story was a fun loving story and a new twist on the Cinderella story we loved as a child.

A heartwarming romance! I really enjoyed this modern version of Cinderella and thought it was adapted well and was true to the original story without being too cliche. I loved Aria and Henry together. Henry was pretty much the dream boyfriend, and Aria was an easy heroine to root for. While some parts were a touch predictable (this is a re-telling of a classic story, after all) I was pleased to see that some plot points played out better than I expected. I had a smile on my face basically the entire time I was reading this story and just adored it. Looking forward to more!

An American Cinderella was a modern day take on Cinderella.

In this story Aria, is a senators aide in Washington that gets run over by a man named Henry who she is instantly smitten with. While falling in love, Aria is also being blackmailed by her step mother to get information about a current trade deal going on with the fictitious nation of Paradisa. Aria is surprised when she finds that her new love is a price from said nation; who helps her take down the evil stepmother.

For a modern day twist on the timeless classic "Cinderella" this was a very good adaptation. Please note a Hidden Gem ARC copy was received in exchange for my honest review.

An American Cinderella is a retelling of my favorite classic, Cinderella. Of course, you have the beautiful step daughter, the evil step mother, and the handsome Prince Charming. But this adds a little twist, and it was a great one too.

After an accidental encounter with a handsome stranger, who happen literally knocked her off her feet. She can’t stop thinking about him, and he can’t stop thinking about her either. When they meet again, the relationship moves kinda fast, but in such a sweet way. He is a perfect gentleman, but he is not who she thinks he is. He is none other than the Prince of Paradisa.

Audrey is Aria’s stepmother, and wow is she a piece of work. She has no use for Aria and her wanting to follow in her Father’s footsteps in politics. But she does need her to do something for her that will probably jeopardize everything she’s worked for. But the evil stepmother wouldn’t be the truly “evil stepmother” is she didn’t pull the selfish monster card. What she asking of Aria is illegal and completely against everything that Aria stands for, but she does it to protect her Father’s legacy.

Aria was such a sweet young girl and so caring for those in her life. Now, as for Henry, he is was handsome athletic, or that’t What he told Aria. These two only know each other at face value, not their backgrounds or where they came from. I enjoyed this aspect so much, their relationship was quick but so completely swoon worthy. But I knew that Audrey’s plan for Aria would get in the way at some point or another. Man, I wanted to smack that woman. At least the evil step sister wasn’t hears from very much, but from I can tell, she was just as bad as her mother. I just have to mention that there is the “fairy god mother” and Gus too. Looooved it!

We all know how the classic turns out, so maybe this was a little predictable but in no way did it take away from the sweetness of this couple and trying to get their happy ending. The little twists that Lakes put in here were just wonderful and I wanted to root for Aria and Henry so much.

An American Cinderella was a fantastic retelling of Cinderella, and I just adored Aria and Henry and their sweet blooming love story. Fans of retellings will devour this one for sure.

This is an excellent steamy romance by an excellent romance author! I think I may have read some of her hardbacks and this is a great story. Aria has a mean old stepmother who tries to climb the political arena with wrongdoings. She and Henry run into each other near the Washington monument. He does not have the courage to tell her he is a Prince for fear that her feelings may change and he loves her for loving him exactly how he is. I received a gifted copy. There is Aria, who is a independent woman working her way to the top. She is sweet and everyone loves her. Then there is Henry, the prince, who doesn't tell Aria who he is when they meet. This is a great modern version of a today Cinderella with the bad stepmom and how she plans on doing evil to both Aria and her Dad's reputation. I loved how Henry came to be her knight in shinning armor. This was an enjoyable story and an easy one-click. Enjoy!!

I loved this modern day fairytale. Krista Lakes writes such wonderful stories full of love and romance. An American Cinderella is a sweet, romantic story about a Prince and a commoner that will leave a smile in your heart! Henry is every girl's dream, he's sweet, charming, romantic, sexy and a Prince! what more could a girl ask for? Aria is a sweet, beautiful girl who gets knocked off her feet the first time she meets Henry! This was a modern day telling of the classic Cinderella story, but instead of scrubbing floors and waiting on her step family, Aria's stepmother is blackmailing her to do her dirty work. Henry is a prince who literally knocks Aria over. He is taken by her. But she does not know that he is a prince. When she finds out she runs. Can Henry get her back? Can she get out from the blackmail her stepmother is holding over her head?

My first book by this author. This book would probably suit those who want a very sugary, fairytale, princess type read with a rated R rating. In many ways I felt as if this was a rewriting of the fairytale as the blurb promises. There are many similarities so if you loved the fairytale you’ll enjoy this read. I did find a few things a little beyond believable but all in all a decent read. I think it would have served the book well to have two POV’s Aria’s as well as Henry. Krista Lakes has written a modern day Cinderella Story.
Aria is the stepdaughter of the wicked Audrey who would stop at nothing to get what she wants. She's an information broker who wants to get her hands on the new trade information. She has her stepdaughter demoted and blackmails her into getting her the information she wants.
Meanwhile, Aria meets the wonderful Henry Prescott. Henry is a second-string rugby player who quickly captures our hearts. The problem is that Henry is actually Prince Henry of Paradisia. Which is the country that the U.S. is doing the trade agreement with. They quickly fall in love. And as always the good conquers the evil.
The young love in this story warms my heart I could not put the book down. It's another great read by Krista Lakes. I highly recommend this and all of her books.

I must say when I saw the name of the title I rolled my eyes and smirked a little bit. I mean come on, An American Cinderella, sounds pretty corny. However, I think the Ms Lakes pulled it off really rather well. The story is gripping and the characters are believable. I downloaded it during my lunch break and finished reading it by the next day. An American Cinderella is a good take on the Cinderella story. It contains all the necessary elements: the common girl, the prince, the wicked stepmother, and the stepsister (who sadly, of whom you learn nothing). Krista Lakes did a nice job in setting the story in Washington D.C., in the middle of political intrigue. Though, I do wish The heroine, Aria, would have stepped up to try to do more to remedy her situation, Ms. Lakes brought it to a satisfying conclusion.
If you enjoy the variety of different takes on Cinderella stories, give this one a try. It is worth your time.

I loved this story so much that I found myself wanting to know more of what happened to the other characters in the story. I highly recommend this book if you love fairy tales like I do!

Aria,
Whew, girl! You hit the jackpot for Evil stepmothers, didn’t you?
I’ve only just “met” her and I wanna pull out her hair.
Halfway expect her to start killing puppies-- or turn into a dragon…
But then, that would be a fairytale, wouldn’t it? And the wrong one at that.
Never mind.

I really rather enjoyed watching this wicked stepmother get what was coming to her! This is a very entertaining, romantic, modern re-telling of Cinderella.
Bottom line: I believe! 5 stars.

An American Cinderella by Krista Lakes was a beautiful, sexy, sweet retelling of an old classic, Cinderella. We get some some twists and turns in this story as well.

When Aria and Henry meet by accidental chance, fireworks explode for them. I'm a sucker for insta-love stories, and Krista Lakes delivers a FANTASTIC one. From the characters to the storyline it's a fairy tale read you'll love!

Wow! This take on Cinderella is full of twists and turns. The wicked stepmother is really evil in the worst way. I couldn't believe the things she made Aria do. The chance encounter between Aria and Henry was swoon worthy. To find out he was her prince in shining armor and could take her away from her evil stepmother and ensure that her stepmother was taken care of for good, awesome! I loved this retelling. Absolutely loved this book!

Aura is quite indecisive about making the right decisions. Great twist on the original Cinderella story this has a political storyline. Well written loved the characters nice relaxing read you can loose yourself in.

Such a beautiful story!! It was sweet & emotional with some blackmail and secrets thrown in to keep things shook up! And oh boy did Krista Lakes shake things up!! You really never know how much an accidental encounter can forever change the course of your life but Aria and Henry sure do find out. I laughed, I cried and may have screamed at the pages a time or two. But I loved every single word that was written.

This book was given to me at my request and I provided this review voluntarily

Cute read, definitely a new twist on the Cinderella story.

I loved how Henry, although omitted, didn't really hide who he was from Aria. He gave her information but as like any new relationship not everything is revealed in the first few days and she did take the information and "researched" as he told her to do.

I am glad to see that she had enough faith in his love for her to reveal the truth as to why she couldn't be with him and to let him her help her.

I received this book as a voluntary arc reader.

This book was a great Cinderella remake. All the major characters were included: damsel in distress, wicked stepmother, charming prince and fairy godmother. I loved the way Ms. Lakes modernized the story. Aria was manipulated by her stepmother into stealing government security documents in order to save the reputation of her deceased Father. The stepmother was a vile despicable human being and made my skin crawl. The prince (whose identity is not revealed until later) was caring and sweet. In the end all turns out just like the fairy tale: the wicked stepmother is banished and the Prince and Aria live happily ever after. A great light read I would highly recommend. Keep writing your lovely stories Krista.

Another great book by Krista Lakes!! I loved An American Cinderella story and fell in love with her Prince Charming Henry. Aria meets Henry as he literally runs into her on one of her worst days, after her stepmother has her demoted and transferred from her dream job. Aria has a very wicked stepmother and a useless stepsister and rises above it all with help from her fairy god mother and Henry. Such a cute fast read and the characters really come to life with Krista’s very descriptive narration.

A wonderfully entertaining retelling of the Cinderella story. Aria and Henry are great together and the story is wonderfully modern. She works for the US government and Henry is a prince, but Aria doesn't know that because he lies about it and doesn't tell her. Will Aria's stepmother ruin everything and will Aria believe in Henry's love when he has lied about everything else? If you like fairy tales don't pass this one by.

Aria has the wicked stepmother that’s blackmailed her into doing something illegal and has to find a way out, but falls in love with a foreign businessman while she’s getting deeper and deeper with no idea how to climb out. When she discovers the truth, things really go into chaos mode and she’s determined not to hurt the man she loves. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and cannot wait to read more by this author. What a wonderfully great Retelling of Cinderella. There is just enough similarities that you recognize the fairy tale but so much more details and twists that it is easy to see the difference. And the differences is what sets this book apart from other Cinderella retakes. Retelling fairy tales is hugely popular right now but not everyone has/can do it as well as it was done here. This is the first book I have read by Krista Lakes but she has found a new reader in me. I loved it!

This book was great to read. I loved the interaction between the characters. The plot was very well constructed but was very predictable. The only surprise to me was how long it took for some things to happen after I had predicted they would. The foreshadowing was not subtle and the reward of the prediction came just later than I would have liked. The last chapter closing everything up could have went into a bit more detail to match the rest of the story, but everything resolved satisfactorily. I did receive this book free so I could voluntarily leave a review. That being said, this book is well worth the purchase.
