This is the third book in the (rather addicting) series! I'd advise reading the other two books first, but if you are already a fan of the series, you will like Vision in Silver. The main two characters and their relationship is not really fitting those typical romance or urban fantasy molds. Their pasts and identify really colors their current way of seeing the world, which is fantastic. It gives us distinct voices. The mystery was good as well.

Anne Bishop is one of my favorite authors. In this book we learn more about the Others, there are a couple of deaths when Others and humans go on an outing. The Others hand down a sentence for a breach of trust by the humans.

I absolutely adore this series!!!!! I am addicted. It’s a testament to Anne Bishop‘s talent that she can make a mail sorter into a compelling, fascinating, and must-read character. These characters are my fictional family.

This series has captured my imagination. I loved Anne Bishop's black jewels series and I tried this series based only on her name. So glad I did.
Meg is such a great heroine. She and Simon will help keep the world safe for their packs- human, wolf, crow, etc. little details of ancillary characters become important later in the series so make sure you file away all the details. I can't wait until the next book.

An excellent continuation of the series. I love the world building and character development.
The story is more sweet and hopeful than dark, though there is plenty of dark characters. The characterization of the terra indigene is almost uniformly positive--not a lot of gray in them, just a different set of priorities to human priorities. And the humans break down into fairly clear good and bad categories. Not a lot of complexity or mixed emotions invoked in the reader, but the end feeling is satisfying none the less.
I really hope the series continues. This book leaves me wanting to find out what happens next.

Anne Bishop does not disappoint with the third installment of The Others series. We learn more about the HFL (Humans First and Last) movement. We get to meet Officer Crispin Montgomery's daughter, Lizzy. We suffer the loss of a couple of characters. There's plenty of action going on throughout the entire book that sends your emotions on an exciting roller coaster ride.
And so another year will be spent waiting for the fourth book in this series: Etched in Flesh. I shall console myself by re-reading Written in Red, Murder of Crows and, now, Vision in Silver... or the Black Jewels Trilogy. Oh, the agony.

OMG Anne Bishop does it again. Meg, Simon, Vlad, the Courtyard human pack and the Lakeside police all grow in this installment of her FANTASTIC, PHENOMENAL series. This is book 3. Written In Red and Murder of Crows are books 1 & 2, and if you haven't read them you are denying yourself a treat. We see more of the Northwest Wolf Jackson and the rescued cassandra sangue. And.... I can hardly wait till the next book!

Only one thought, there is a little, too much rehashing or the other books to keep,us readers informed, and recalling the story from before. It can get annoying but the book is still excellent. I love these books and the end to,this one I find interesting.

This series would be fantastic....however the author writes as if the heros are always right and anyone else is wrong. No matter what. It takes away from what would be an amazing series. Take for instance the heroine of the series. A flawed character. No matter what she says or does it never actually affects the story. Occasionally they might get irritated....mostly they kiss her ass. This book and this seires spends the majority of time...forcing the audience to believe that everyone and everything loves this individual.

Wow... such a different world. I love her writing style and imagination. I will admit that she is the only author I can think of that has made me put down a book because she was too skilled at writing a seen (Pillars of Heaven). That was well written but too disturbing. This world has the disturbing realism of that but without the overwhelming depression. The very alien nature of the tera indigene both attracts and repels you. Its amazing.

An excellent addition to a phenomenal series by Anne Bishop! This is one of my favorite series done by one of my favorite authors. I cannot wait to read the next one and I am so excited that there are five books expected for this series. I have read the first two books a few times and each time is just as magical for me. Thank you, Anne Bishop for creating such an amazing world!

I have enjoyed this series and look forward to more. Bishop's characters are well developed and her p[lots are imaginative and unique. The 'others" that the protagonist lives among have interesting ethical dilemmas.

I have always loved Anne Bishops ability to build new believable worlds and "people" them with rich full characters. This reads like American Indian, Japanese Shinto Kami and Asian Karma all rolled into one wonderful mix. Throw in shape changer, vampiric folk and soul eaters plus elementals to the mix yet it is so believable. All I can say is do not miss this series and hopefully this is not the last in the series.

Very disapponting. Nothing really happens in this book. I kept waiting for Meg and Sam's relationship to be explored or some other major plot change. I don't think I'll read he next one. You could probably skip the one and just read the next. You wouldn't miss much.

Anne Bishop is an amazing author. She writes stories for readers who love to be transported to places that are truly special and unique. The Black Jewels Trilogy are my favorite, but Meg, the msin female character, is rapidly becoming a favorite.

Meg and Simon continue to try to reconcile Humans and the Others. This plot involves Human hate groups and attempts to solve the mysteries of the Blood Prophets. Bishop continues to deliver strong stories in an interesting world. It does lose some of its emotional depth because the scope of the story is moving outside the main characters.

I feel like I did myself a disservice by expecting this series to wrap up within a trilogy and as such I was unprepared for an extended, slower paced series. It's not a bad book but if you are used to Jim Butcher's pacing of epic middles that lead to even more epic endings it will be a bit of a let down.

I love both serious literature and fluffy paranormal romance. This series is a beautiful blend of both. The analogies to real human struggles for equality, honesty and justice are significant while miraculously remaining subtle and organic to the plot. The only request I have is that the author moves the romance between Meg and Simon forward in a bigger leap in the 4th book. I understand and admire the current pacing but a 4th book without a more significant step would be dissatisfying.
Great job!
Great job!

I came to Anne Bishop late as a recommendation from one of my daughters. I have read the first three books several times, they are one of a very few I keep on Kindle. the pacing is well done and the characters are true to their form although the wolves remind me more of my Great Danes than furry monster type critters. Enjoyable and a recommended read.

Amazingly addictive, as every book in the series has been thus far. The characters and worlds the author creates defy description. I can't explain WHY these books are so addictive, but I can tell you this--I read a LOT of books, but Anne Bishop's are the only books I have read while stopped at a red light because I simply could not wait until I got to my destination to continue the story. They are just that good

Really loved this. The growth of the world and the series in this book is excellent. The character development, plot and intrigue continues to grow. Really love the alternate history, world building and new types of creatures in this series. Refreshing new work in the tired urban fantasy genre. Really recommend it.

This series could be so much better than this particular effort. Putting aside the constant perspective shifts that broke up any semblance of narrative momentum, there really is no major point to this book. The whole thing wound up feeling like it was just a setup for another book. There really is no big (or even medium) conflict, but rather a series of events that just seem to tick the Others off. Also, it really never feels like the potential antagonists are really a threat to the others, as if they might win a skirmish or two down the road but will wind up obliterated in the war. One thing that helps build genuine drama and suspense is the prospect that the bad guys might win, and you get the feeling by the end of this book (actually, most books in the series) that the only reason that the humans are alive is because the Others just haven't gotten around to killing them yet. There really is no sense of balance between the two factions.
There are still things that I really love about the series. The playful and protective relationship that the residents of the courtyard have with "our Meg" is really well done, as is the description of the courtyard as a whole. Unfortunately, the multiple narrative shifts seemed to minimize Meg's role in this particular book, and it made it difficult to spend any real time developing any of the secondary characters since not enough pages were ever dedicated to any one of them to make a difference.
Hopefully in the next book, the author will narrow the focus to fewer characters and will make the bad guys a bit more of a match.

Wow. Things sure have changed from books one and two. Anything after book two are now filler books.
The series WAS interesting even though Meg was a whiny weak woman and main character.
Now these books are just filled with useless conversation and mundane problems that take paragraph after boring paragraph to work itself out.
So unneeded and when you start to skip parts of the book, you've lost the reader.
Meg and Simon should have been a love story slowly evolving, but this relationship is ridiculous and stupid.
WHO would see Meg as anything but a constant problem?
In the middle of a work day she ends up stopping nearly everyone from what they're doing to tend to her. Gah!
It's like she's some precious commodity that is to be treasured and coddled constantly. I. cannot. stand. Meg.
At all.
The Sanguinati are a much more interesting group in the books, yet they're never really focused on or developed. For a second there, I thought Vlad and Merri Lee had something, but it never came to fruition.
Vlad is a handsome, interesting character and he's a dumb book store owner. His character isn't utilized to its full extent and Vlad is left as a blah vampire who jumps into the fray when needed, but that's about it.
At this point, the majority of the book focus's on Meg's idiocy or her fellow blood prophets and their infantile needs. Really tired of these girls.
The only interesting thing going on are the humans trying to take land away from the others. Doesn't happen.
These books should have stopped after one or two....No need to drag this out at all.
If characters aren't going to really develop relationships or evolve into something more, then just end it already.
The entire lengthy story winds the reader up for some huge human wipe out by the other others. There are the others and the other others. The ones hiding in the wilderness. The elders.
Not much happens when they attack.
Book was a big let down.

Not since the "Dark Jewels", by Anne Bishop herself has there been another series of books that grabs the reader's imagination, as this one has. Anne, those of us with dark souls miss the S'aDiablo lands and it's noble gentlemen who are no one's gentle anything, and the fierce and courageous Queens.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this entire series. This is #3. Start with the first two or you'll be very confused. Bishop has created an alternate universe that, while unlikely, is believable. It balances danger, the unknown, and typical everyday life to produce a book you can't put down -- and it has been a long time since I've been able to say that.

Loved it! I've already reread it once. Wonderful continuation in world building, learning about the Elders who inhabit the wild country, both complicating and simplifying the interactions between the different races of Terra Indigene, furthering the relationship between the humans, Intuits, and Terra Indigene, seeing the relationship between Simon and Meg change and grow. My only complaint is having to wait around a year for the next installment.
