I bought this book for my nephew and he absolutely loves it. He is really into firefighters and fire engines so this book was perfect for him. He does not let anyone else touch it. Truly recommend it for any child who is interested in trucks, firefighters, and rescue squads.

Vey Exciting and cleverly written by Tony Mitton holds the children's imagination and interest all way through, very catchy
verses and children will start to learn poetry through this book - pictures are great and the chilren and adults love the colours
and illustrations. A very enjoyable book to read for children from ages of 18 months to 8 years.

Such a good, quick, fun, bright read.

This book goes from begining of a fire call to end of a fire call in a short rythmic bright way. My 2 year old LOVES it and we have to read it every night.

Great story. Fun for kids. Easy to catch onto the beat (and ultimately memorize). My students in China, even though they are first year English learners love this book and it helps them learn about English poetry and rhythm, things which they will never learn about in their normal English classes.

I recently bought the fire truck and train books in this series hoping to expand my 26 month old son's library of vehicle stories, and neither if us can manage to make it to the end of either one. The singsong-y text is annoying to me and confusing for my son, adding words that don't quite belong in order to rhyme. The illustrations are cute but unsatisfying and confusing-- even an 18 month old knows that birds don't drive fire trucks, and there's no context like there is in Richard Scarry's books to make that whole animal-community-worker thing make sense. Sorry to be so negative, but honestly, these books just completely grate on both of us. Try Scarry's Things That Go for whimsy, Lois Lenski's "Little" vehicle series for straightforward, calming and realistic text with childlike but beautiful illustrations, or the "There Goes A..." video series for real-life view of vehicles at work. But skip these books.

I absolutely LOVE this book. My 3 year old daughter does too. Every night, I tell her to pick out 2-3 books to read and on the rare occasion this isn't one of them, I'M disappointed. THAT'S how much I love this book. It is SO much fun to read and my daughter gets into it, especially the "chorus" that's repeated several times. Our favorite part is "the dinosaurs won't bite us, or scratch us, or thump us, they just want to holler up a... (turn the page) DINOSAURUMPUS!!!!" When I turn the page we both (literally) yell out the word "dinosaurumpus". It's SO MUCH FUN to read this book. I usually make my gruff and suspenseful at the beginning and as the story progresses I pick up the cadence and lighten the mood. The rhyming makes this approach perfect and fun! The end of the story has the dinosaurs getting sleepy from such a busy day and I use this opportunity to bring down the energy in the room. I read really slow and lower my voice so that my daughter has to be completely silent and still to hear me. It works great to calm her down. Because of all the fun we have while reading it, I always make it the first book and again, use the end to slow her down, and then follow that up with normal reading time. By the time we finish reading and sing a few songs, she's ready for bed.
Honestly, I can't recommend this book enough for young children!

My 3-year-old son absolutely ADORES this book! He asks to read this book often. The rhymes are catchy, the illustrations are colorful and playful, and it's just an all around fun book! Plus, what toddler doesn't love dinosaurs? My son can recite the whole book by himself now -- that's how much he's read it and loves it. I highly recommend this book! It will be a sure favorite in your household.

Yes, Yes, Yes. The 'Flashing Fire Engines' gets read everyday with great gusto so everyone enjoys it! With great illustrations and catchy rhyme, my four year old listens quite attentively and joins in when he can. He likes that the are animals are the firemen and that they are all different shapes and sizes. The bird is big and fat while the mouse is small and thin and the rabbit is a bit taller but thin. (Sometimes it get called a kangaroo because it's ears are long like a kangaroo too. But, we know it's really a rabbit!) It's a happy book because the animals are always smiling and there's a happy end to it. Everyday, the three animals are always ready to get to that fire to put it out and save the dog. At the end of the day, however, they get back to the station and get a break to play some basketball to show that, really, they are just like you and me (even though they are actually animals). It comes in a nice soft cover binding for ease of use (although hard cover is available) and there's a nice summary of fire equipment on the final page too.

Dinosaurumpus is my 4 year-old grandson's favorite book. Although he can only read a few of the words, his mother has had to read this book to him so many times that he has now memorized the entire book. He even took it to preschool for show-and-tell and "read" it to his entire class! After dinner on Thanksgiving, he "read" it to the whole family. He is a big dinosaur fan (and I am a geologist and Dinosaur Ridge tour guide) and no other dinosaur book even comes close to this hilarious Tony Mitton bedtime story, complete with sound effects.

I have been reading this book to my daughter since she was 10 months old and she is now close to 16 months old. She has always loved it and now she gets very excited and kicks her feet at the Dinosaurumpus part of the story. It is so cute. I really enjoy reading it to her since it is such a fun story and it has a good rhythm to it. Highly recommend!
