I especially appreciated the detailed explanation of how the IC had determined how foreign actors (Russians, et al) had influenced the election, and the srtategies they employed. One can argue who benefitted, but having a better understanding of what happened to our sacred processes is an alarm we all must answer to save the country we love and dedicate ourselves to.

Clapper writes in a no-nonsense factual style befitting a man whose career involved making rational judgments based on observations and recordings in the intelligence gathering world. His story involves nuts-and-bolts observations and the stunning conclusions drawn therefrom. Moreover, his personal story shows he's not just an expert - he's a patriot as well.

It gives you insight into the operations of intelligence agencies and how they protect us on the daily. It is especially important during this moment in history, the behavior of 45 is troubling, dangerous and just what Russia wanted. As American’s I hope we can get it together, emphasis on together.

A very thoughtful and detailed account of Mr. Clappers’ entire life in intelligence. I found the book to be full of current history events and what the intelligent community thought of the occurances. The book sheds light on the behind the scenes activity and the problems that needed to be overcome.

Speaking truth to power about the Russian interference in our US Democracy by a patriotic servant who spent his adult life in the intelligence business. Must read so that US Citizens understand who the real enemy is (Russia) not their fellow Americans.

A great book. Well written and informative, the last two chapters address the period between the run-up to the 2016 elections and a few months after the beginning of the Trump presidency. A great companion to Michael Hayden's The Assault on Intelligence.

Really enjoyed the book and respect Mr Clapper’s many years of dedicated service. I think anyone who doubts the commitment of our government officials will be impressed by the sacrifice that people like James Clapper made in service to our country.

Very interesting, factual learning read. At times a little hard to follow but too interesting to give up. Admirable life and dedication of Mr. Clapper, would love to read more about his assignments but, of course, that's classified.....

James Flapper has done an admirable job putting into words what his life's work has been about. Hopefully the people who read his work will come away with better appreciation for what dedicated officials like Clapper, Brennan have done for our nation.

This book certainly helps clarify what is happening in our nation. In a world of manipulative obfuscation we need more people like General Clapper who are unafraid to deliver the truth, not only to power, but to all of us.

Interesting perspectives from a man who made a difference in challenging times. Most of us remember the news as it was reported; this gives some context to understand the thinking behind the headlines.
