I love Linda Howard's books. This one bothered me because I'm a sexual assault survivor (author of my memoir) and a retired counselor. I think Wolf was dead wrong to chase Mary to "remove" her fear. No way would that be wise. He was a bit too John Wayne in the last scenes, but probably believable even still. Mary's character was great.

My mom introduced me to Linda Howard. Sometimes she is too violent and graphic for my taste, but this was the first paperback novel my mom ever gave me back in the 90's. There is enough intrigue and mystery without being gory or going into immense details of the crime. It held my attention through the entire book and I have read it several times throughout the years. A timeless story, and now I finally have it on kindle and look forward to many more reads. Likable characters and realistic events. It was a roller coaster ride and fun read. Thank you.

I recently read Mackenzie's magic and Chance. I loved the stong family bonds and wanted to read the series from the beginning. The characters and stories are Linda Howard at her very best. I am a major fan.

Mary and her strong personality.
The murderer was pathetic and it made me sad he was filled with
Prejudice and hate from his parent. We fear what we don't understand.
