So what happens when a witch with anger problems blows her exs warehouse, she goes to witch prison. Released after 9 months she had to serve her parole in Paris Texas. Having to work out her parole at a school for magically inclined children in the area where her ex lives, is she is bound to fail. With her only friend is a semi-decapitated cabbage patch doll called Ichabod, she is up for a fun couple of weeks .
This was a fun book to read, and had some quirky characters. Baba Yaga was one such character, her fascination for all 80s was hysterical. The descriptive writing by this author enabled you to have a mental picture of what you were reading. This was a quick read as you want to find out if Winnie can get through what ever is thrown at her. Winnie develops and you realise she is not as selfish as she used to be. The relationship with her ex Ben heats up as story progresses and this will be suitable for an older reader.
Overall a funny quick read

I had the absolute pleasure of reading this book as the first I've read from the author. The book is about a witch Winnifred that has been incarcerated due to misuse of magic. She has to complete a task that will push and test her to her limits. All the while trying not to use magic selflessly. Meanwhile she's stuck around a steamy jerk of an ex in a town hot as the sun. Also she has to put up with a back talking cabbage patch. The story unfolds and Winnifred grows beautifully she starts reaching her potential while learning about herself.
Witty right out of the gate! The banter between characters flows smoothly and comically. Dakota Cassidy does an excellent job painting the picture of the world she created. The picture pulls you in and engulfs you into this book. She flawlessly links our world and the fictional book world. Her characters jump out and drag you in with their big personalities. Dakota Cassidys ability to take real life problems and mesh them with this other relm realistically is fantastic. The story is heartwarming wrapping you up in this crazy love story. Dakota Cassidy manages to bring mystery, action, adventure, comedy and love all to the table in this book. I hated putting the book down for everyday life! The author is a national best seller and if you read this book you will definitely know why. I am so ready to read more from her. I encourage you to read this book as well. So get the book and in the words of Dakota Cassidy " hold on to your Kotex pads. It’s going to be a bumpy ride!"

'Witched at Birth' was an awesome start to an amazing series, 'A Paris, Texas Romance'. The storyline drew me in from the beginning and didn't let go. Full of humor, I'm talking laugh out loud funny, a few unfortunate mishaps, some hot and steamy scenes, romance and great characters. Each character brought something to the story. From Winnie to Ben to Lola to Icabod etc., each were well developed and brought the story together. Winnie was hilarious. My favorite line Winnie in regards to herself- 'She blew $*** up, but she didn't run from it'. I loved her attitude. Baba Yaga was a mess. Although, I admit to loving the 80's just as much as her, she really took it to another level. Icabod was hilarious, especially for being a half decapitated Cabbage Patch Doll. Bic is another awesome character. I guess I could have just stated that I loved every character and left it at that, but I like to ramble at times. Overall, this book is a must add to your tbr list. Definitely recommended. I can't wait to read more.

This was an amazing book. It was the first Dakota Cassidy book I have ever read and I must say I will be reading them all now. She is an amazing writer and world/character builder. There are a few sex scenes in this, just a heads up if thats not your thing and if its not still read this just skip over that part. Loved this start of the series getting ready to read the next.

Brilliant! Who would want to serve their parole as a teacher's aide - not Winnie! Why are strange things happening? Great story with a terrific cast and real emotion. If you love your cozies to be full of magic, romance, feeling and topped with a mystery, then is is for you. Loved it!

I loved Witched at Birth. This was 'n welcome break from the books that I am currently reading. I would recommend this as a light holiday read or just something to read when you want to escape from reality. Loved all the magic in the book and how Winnie related to Lola. Looking forward to read more books by Dakota Cassidy.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. The story started off a little slow for me but I am glad I kept reading. The story kept getting better and better. I love how the feelings between her and Ben never went away. I also liked that they sent her to the school and how she bonded with Lola... I hope that there is more to the story!

Peterman and Cassidy are totally besties that share everything. Putting the two of them in a room is either a recipe for mischief or a nuclear bomb.! Thank goodness they live so far away from San Antonio, or I might join them in shenanigans

Winnie has spent the last nine months in jail for blowing up a office building belonging to her boyfriend Ben. The pair dated for been dating for awhile, and after they finally sleep together he doesn't call her the next day. Winnie has anger management issues and tried calling him and going to his job, but she got no response so she got mad. Then, Ben's aunt basically tells her she doesn't want Winnie dating Ben and Winnie loses it and ka-boom! Winnie has been a problem child since the death of her mother when she was a little girl. But, now Winnie is up for parole and has to make a complete change by Halloween to stay out. This is a great story.

This paranormal romance is pretty steamy! It was a good, light read. As with most romances, the basic outline is known; the trick is how you get there. I liked the world and culture the author created. I liked the characters and there were enough twists in the story that it kept me going. There were some things that made me laugh out loud -- a Cabbage Patch doll as a familiar and Baba Yaga as an 80s fan come to mind.
I enjoyed the story which is about learning to see beyond your own selfish whims. There were a couple of *very* graphic sex scenes which I found myself skimming over in order to get to the story. I honestly didn't need all the details that were given, but I suspect I am in a minority there. Some of the language was rough, but appropriate to the characters. Will I read the next book in the series? Probably when I need some light reading.
Who will like it? Anyone who likes paranormal romances with a good dose of sexual tension (and some sex) or who doesn't mind skimming over several pages. It's a well-done book in the genre.

But once Winnie gets over her embarrassment, it's really a sweet small town romance with cute kids and crazy neighbors. The mother-daughter stories often had me in tears. The rekindled romance is sweet and steamy. And the plot had a few magical surprises. I really enjoyed this Witched at Birth and I'd love to see more from Winnie and her friends.
