Big Girls and Bad Boys Book 1 (Big Girls And Bad Boys Series)

This short story is better written than anything else I've read from this author. But it should've been better. It seemed more like a first draft or idea for a book than a finished product. It could have used more detail and filling out. Otherwise a decent read.

Maggie never dated, Lisa her best friend needed help and Maggie was it. As soon as Maggie seen Lisa she knew she wouldn't like what she had to say but ended up helping her anyways. Jake the town hunk was always in Maggie's bakery, it was her one and only passion to bake fancy pastries, her bakery used to belong to her mother before she passed away. Maggie and Jake would often chat, he would always asked her out on a date but she constantly said "no" and laughed as if it was a joke, he was not joking, he had the hots for Maggie big time. She would constantly lust after Jake, thinking a man like that would never be interested in her. They ended up at the charity ball together and Jake had to tell Maggie how he felt, she was always putting herself down. This is a great short story with wonderful characters and the hottest sex scene leaving you wanting more.

Whilst knowing this was going to be short, I feel this had so much potential to be extended into a longer novel, but it just felt so rushed. I didn't feel I got to know Jake very much at all. Maggie was such a sweetheart at the start, and came across as someone who wasn't too comfortable with her body shape, not very confident. Then all of a sudden she changed - she went home with Jake, had unprotected sex at the drop of a hat and came across as quite brazen. I so wanted to get to know both of them because I think they could have been really great characters, if only we could have seen them develop a bit more.

This is another GREAT short read from JS Scott! I love that even tho this is a short story, she draws you right in and you either relate to the character (Maggie) or want a character like that in your life (Jake - sigh). I love the effort Jake went to in order to get to Maggie and I reaaaally love that Jake wasn't so full of himself to automatically assume that Maggie would want him because he's so damn hot and she's a bigger woman. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Short romantic story about a curvy girl who has issues about her size. Jake Rawlins a frequent customer to Maggie's cake shop has asked Maggie out many times but she just thinks he's joking. He needs to find a way to persuade her he wants to be with her.
