I am very pleased with this purchase. While I also own H.P. Lovecraft for Kindle, some books are worth owning paper copies of and this book delivered! Pages are sturdy and the print is normally sized.

Lovecraft has long been a favorite. His fiction is truly mind-expanding: it forces you to think of a colossal cosmos, populated by unspeakably powerful beings, among whom man is but a blip in time. Lovecraft's fiction follows a general trend of a protagonist oblivious to his insignificance and caught up in the hubbub of day-to-day life who must gradually come to terms with how tiny he is in a mad, uncaring universe of Cyclopean scale and hoary ancientness. There's a reason he has inspired everyone from Robert Block to Stephen King.
If you don't mind the slow build of Lovecraft's fiction, or his characters, who are more caught up with digging into mysteries they shouldn't dig into but can't pull themselves away from than they are character development or self-discovery, you'll enjoy the slowly unfolding horror on offer in H.P. Lovecraft.
Not only is Lovecraft fun to read, but he will permanently alter how you think about man's place in the universe. It remains hard to consider man - or any of his dramas, intrigues, or impacts - all that important in scale after completing a reading of H.P. Lovecraft. Enter at your own risk... and as any Lovecraftian hero might tell you, there are certain truths no sane mind should ever be made to face...

B and N has done a beautiful job collecting almost all of Lovecrafts work in a terrific single volume. No dust jacket but a beautifully crafted work with insightful introductory paragraphs preceding each tale by famed scholar ST Joshi.
Inexpensive and an amazing value. Gilt edge pages, nice font, just a terrific book lovers book. This is the Lovecraft collection to get.

The book is great, to say the least. My expectations were met and then some, and I was genuinely scared a bit with the story "The Beast in the Cave" (I think that's the name). Night reading recommended!

This book looks amazing. This is the Lovecraft bible. A must have for Lovecraft fans! If you just want to read his stories you can get them in e format very cheap, but if you want a hard copy to meet the level of the literature you must have this book.

this book is very well put together and looks beautiful on a coffee table. it has silver page edges to give it that other worldly charm. cant wait to read more stories! probably the best collection to buy if you're new to hp lovecraft. it's all his work, not all the other hacks who ripped off his work.

I love how this is his complete fiction, and that it comes with both when it was first published and where it was published. I would recommend, but warn you that it does need a good bit of download space.

I love Lovecraft, and I love this edition. The cover is simple, but it's nice to have all of Lovecraft's stories and novels. Even the ones that aren't quite as good, like "The Terrible Old Man" And it's in chronological order of writing. A+.

For a large, hardcover book, this was fairly inexpensive, which is a nice plus. The pages do feel cheap, but how can you complain for the price. The stories themselves are fantastic; Lovecraft is a master at heavily describing every last detail in each one of his stories. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys the modern gothic drama.

A fine addition to any Lovecraft fan's collection, this anthology contains most (if not all) of H.P. Lovecraft's published works of fiction. Each story is prefaced with a short paragraph detailing the inspiration and original publication date for that particular entry. While there are a few spelling errors, they do not detract much from the stories themselves. The cover is not leather-bound, but still high quality. If I had more Lovecraft fans as friends, I would definitely consider buying more copies of this and handing them out as gifts. Well worth the price.

I read the other customer reviews before choosing to buy it, and I must say I am thoroughly satisfied with what I got. The pages were crisp, silver-edged and contained absolutely no grammatical errors on any page. It was the newer, purple bookmark edition and came wrapped in a plastic wrap. As promised, it contains all of Lovecrafts written works without the additions of other authors, but inevitably I ended up purchasing the extras. This has been worth the price and an excellent gateway to the Cthulhu mythos.

All of modern Horror and Science Fiction owes an amazing debt to H.P. Lovecraft. It is unfortunate that the style and brilliance of his stories appears to be impossible to imitate in film. That means you HAVE to read the book.
