This book helped me a lot. I had been struggling to understand why my mother had done to me, and how I could deal with my feeling against my mother. This book has all answers that I wanted for a long time.

Very thorough and specific reflecting and healing steps even if you had an idyllic life. Very healthy examination of the good in everyone. Empowering support for taking care of your self and your life.

Susan's lifelong work (into the abyss of childhood abuse and its power over adult life experiences) profoundly and effectively breaks the bondages of denial. Truth prevails. Truth heals. Self-empowerment generates a rebirth of the human spirit in the quest for authenticity.

Thank you. I recommended this book to my own therapist it was so helpful to me! Written with the same intelligence as "Toxic Parents" this book drills down on the toll the Narcissistic mother takes on a daughter. How much we want to love them - but can they love anyone? There is no way to describe the confusion and pain of having a parent with NPD as well as Forward does in this book. GET IT. You won't regret it.

Very effective reasoning, and examples. The message and writing style work together to make a very effective tool in analyzing the reader's Mother/Daughter situation, and goes on to provide exercises to heal the wounds.

This book described five different ways that truly unloving mothers interact with, neglect, and abuse their daughters. It describes a number of daughters and the effects this treatment has had on them. It also leads you through a process to work through some of the grief and pain associated with this. I felt better after reading it.

This author has the most empathy than any other book I have read on unlovable mothers. She acknowldges the pain and how difficult it was to be raised by a difficult Mother. I highly recommend this book to daughters who need comfort and encouragement in dealing with their difficult mothers

Susan offers so much insight into different types of mothers that are unable to love their daughters. Hearing about others that have had similar experiences throughout their lives was helpful. The exercises and words of encouragement were pinnacle in moving to a place of acceptance.

Susan Forward has been a tremendous resource in helping me come to terms with the abuse in my family, first with "Toxic Parents " and now with "Mothers Who Can't Love ". Her insights and tools have been invaluable in my path to healing. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the understanding and compassion she brings to the table, helping me to finally let go.

Very good book to suggest to clients to accompany the therapy process. This book provides lots of insight and self-growth potential for invested clients. Off course not everything in the book applies to just one person but the parts that do can be eye-opening to adults in regards to their relationship/upbringing with their mother as well as their own behaviors as mothers to their children.

Very good book written by Dr. Susan Forward. Helped me to understand reasons why my mother was cold. You must read this book if you have a distant relationship with your mother. It will help you understand a lot of things.
