The book is adorable. But the store really stiffed me on the packaging. they crammed the book into a package that was too small and broke the spine. I complained and, to date, have heard nothing from the store regarding what they did.

I'm going to be switching over to Barns and Noble to buy books.

What a wonderful ABC book, I just loved it! It’s Bad Kitty but he wasn’t always bad. It was just that one day they ran out of food so they tried to give him healthy food and he just wasn’t buying into it. They tried to give her dill, fennel, kidney beans, radishes, tomatoes; the list goes on from A to Z. So he: hurled hairballs at our heads, clawed the curtains, overturned her cat box, and was violent with the vet and so many more mean things from A to Z. When his owner finally comes back from the store they go through a list of items they bought for dear old kitty including hippo hamburgers, chicken cheesecake, lizard lasagna, whale waffles, and shark sushi. Kitty now is going to be a super good kitty but she must go back and undo some of the nasty tricks she did when she was mad. She starts at the letter A and ends at Z so she was polite to the vet, cleaned her cat box, repaired the curtains, mopped the bathroom, and washed the car. The pictures are funny and colorful, it’s a great book. It’s one book that can be read over and over with lots of laughs. The ending is funny.

I prefer more exciting books. First, I didn’t enjoy Bad Kitty because it put the alphabet in the book 4 times which made it long and boring. Second, the author picked a lot of words kids don’t understand. For example, quail quiche and zeroed the zinnias. Finally, I was entertained by the part when they bought Bad Kitty a donkey named Dave to eat. Then Dave said, “Hi my name is Dave.” In summary, I would recommend it to 6 year olds through 8 year olds to read with an adult because there are some tricky words.

This book is really good. I really enjoyed this book and my sone really did too. he is 6. This book has the alphabet in it which makes it great for children who are learning to read. Vanessa Williams narrates this book. She does an awesome job in it. She really pulls you into the story. The illistrations are really good. It is bright and collorful inside and will keep your child throughly entertained. The storyline is well written and well executed. I loved this book. My son did too. If you have a child learning to read, Get this book. It can really help...

I picked this book from our local library one visit, thinking that my daughter would like the kitty and the different pictures. The first time I read it, she asked me to read it again...and again...and again. After a few times, she was able to "read" it herself by looking at the pictures and remembering what I had read. She read it over and over again during the time we had it checked out and was sad when we had to return it.

I was just now able to check it out again and she's thrilled to have her kitty book back. She's been reading it again and again.

I like that it goes through the alphabet 4 times, each time with a different word for each letter. She already knew her letters by the time we found this book, but reinforcement never hurts. She's now learning the different foods - the real healthy foods and the not-so-real kitty gourmet foods - and the various actions of the kitty. We loved all the different things the kitty did when she was mad, then all the things she did when she got food again. The author obviously knows kitties and has a sense of humor that appeals to the adults as well as the kids.

I'm putting this book on her birthday and Christmas lists for this year because I know this is a book that she'd like to have her own copy of.

One of the most delightful picture books I've read! Nick Bruel's Bad Kitty takes the naughty feline from icky vegetable retaliation to apologizing for her bad behavior...when she discovers her favorite foods, like Chicken Cheesecake and Lizard Lasagne, are, once again, stocked in the house. This senior citizen laughed out loud at the story and illustrations of Moose Ala Mode, Hippo Hamburgers and Uncle Murray...huh? (You have to read the book) Even my equally senior husband loved it!

Although I highly recommend the satisfying experience of reading to your kids and grandkids, I suggest you listen, at least once, to the Vanessa Williams reading on CD. Her interpretation adds seamlessly to this hilarious, fantastically illustrated book. Can't wait to read more Bad Kitty adventures, especially Bad Kitty VS. Uncle Murray!

Once again, Bad Kitty delivers the funny! Her antics never cease to tickle your funny bone. Bad Kitty is in a sour mood (and when is she not?) because there's no food that she likes - only vegetables - so her owner has to go to the grocery store. The faces Kitty makes when she sees all the vegetables are hilarious! "ACK! EWW! ICK! GROSS! YUCK!" But then her owner gets back from the grocery store and Kitty is all smiles. This book is great for anybody who loves Bad Kitty or just gets a chuckle out of pets misbehaving.

A bad kitty teaches children the alphabet.

My Take
My favorite part of this book was the info pages at the front of the book. Very clever and cute. For the rest, yes, Bruel was also quite clever in his use of the alphabet to explain how bad the kitty is, what foods the kitty liked and disliked, and how the bad kitty apologized to everyone. I could wish he had been more clever in some of his letter choices.

Cute ending, though.

The Story
Poor kitty...her owners have run out of her usual food and all they have is "healthy and delicious" which only leads this poor kitty into being a very bad kitty. Except, oops, then her owners came home with food that kitty thinks is good (they must have a really weird grocery store) and that bad, bad kitty suddenly thinks of all sorts of ways to be a good kitty.

The Cover
The cover is definitely of a Bad Kitty who has painted the title in purple paint on the white wall along with purple paw prints on the wall...tsk...bad kitty...

I LOVE Bad Kitty! And although these books are meant for children, it will make people of all ages laugh out loud. These books contain facts about cats, are full of humor, and are really fun to read. Since you finish this book so quickly, you might want to get a few of them. (If you like these books.) And don't listen to the bad reviews, they're not nice and not true. (But there ARE only a few, and MANY, MANY good reviews!) I really recommend these books! You HAVE TO read them!

My kids LOVE this audio book. The story takes the child(ren) through the alphabet and back----four times! However this book is not your typical "alphabet" book. My girls learned about new vegetables and added quite a few words to their vocabulary thanks to a "variety of vultures" , "an assortment of anchovies", and a "tormented little mouse".

Vanessa Williams did a great job reading this book. The illustrations and storyline are great.

This book is hilarious (and made even funnier because I'm a cat owner)! I just read through it in a store this afternoon and was laughing my head off throughout. Great for adults or kids because the humor and drawings would appeal to both. Also educational for the kids because it reviews the alphabet several times as Kitty performs its shenanigans. Wonderful!

Bad Kitty is a wonderful book full of great illustrations and wonderful vocabulary building text. This is such a fun book for adults to read, and the kids love it too! I can't help but laugh at the hilarious pictures, and my kids can't quit giggling as we read it. This book is a must for anyone who lives with a "bad kitty", as we do. But it is a must for everyone else too. Nick Bruel has done a wonderful job with this book. We will be waiting impatiently to see what he does next.

I teach Special Education at the elementary level and have used this book over the last month to help my students gain a love for reading, the alphabet, and story-telling. Bruel does an excellent job of utilizing a common storyline that adds new meaning to "that darn cat." My students do not realize they are learning the order of the alphabet, let alone good reading strategies. They love the book and ask me to read it every day. Now that is POWER! Good job Mr. Bruel.

My daughter is in Kindergarten and this book is a fun way to associate letters and words starting with each letter of the alphabet. It also has a great storyline and my daughter likes me to read the story and for her to "read" the letter pages.

My sister is a kindergarten teacher and she said the best thing to buy for a child to get ready for school is ALPHABET BOOKS! Alphabet books that have the upper and lower case as we read more in the lower case. And the more books, the better!! So as a dutiful Grandma I happened to find this one and I just loved that it had a story to it, it was irreverent, funny and I didn't mind reading it over and over again. Lots to talk about in the pictures too with your little one.

This book is absolutely hilarious and definitely entertaining. In the classroom this book would surely be a hit! I recommend it whole-heartedly! :)
