Patriot Games

Has some slow moments at the beginning. Wouldn't call them dull but... That's the only reason why I'm not giving the book 5 stars. It's really good. The plot is very entertaining and the book becomes a page-turner as soon as things unfold. It was to be expected from this title and the author. I am glad I read it. Highly recommended to any fan of action-packed novels.

Jack gets involved when terrorists try to kidnap the English Prince and his wife. Terrorist seeks revenge and comes to America to extract it. Sometimes the good guys lose, sometimes they win. This is a toss up. Great book

One of Tom's better books, really showcases the way Tom understands the political, military and international dynamics of the world we live in...a book I went through very quickly (as usual) and one to keep!

We are re-reading earlier favorites. As with many authors, the earlier books were the best and Tom Clancy's books are no exception. Almost everybody agrees that Red October was by far Tom Clancy's best novel. After that there were several good ones that never achieved the high level of Red October. Patriot Games is a personal favorite. It does perhaps the best job of developing the character of Jack Ryan and his family and best friends of the time. While not a super-star adventure novel to rival Red October, it is a fun to read book of an era from the not so distant past.

This is the second book featuring Jack Ryan, the first being Hunt for Red October. It grabs you in the first chapter and doesn't let go until the last page. I found it had a short lull in the middle, something I haven't seen in other Tom Clancy fiction, but is definitely worth your time.
