Frankenstein: Lost Souls: A Novel
I am always afraid that I will spoil the story for any potential reader by disclosing too much of that story. If you are a Dean Koontz fan all you are looking for is thumbs up or thumbs down. If this is your reason, then two thumbs up, stop reading this, place your order, and get ready for that thrill we all enjoy when Mr. Koontz is at his best. If you are new to this series go back and begin where Shelly ends and Koontz begins! The heroic and villanious characters are all in place. And might I add, very well placed.

Koontz wrote five novels, numbered one through five, in this long, frightening story of Victor Frankenstein and his first creation, who have come down to us to modern New Orleans (mostly) through the years. #4 is about the latest Victor, arisen from the grave, as it were, and the never-ending hunt it seems to destroy him before he destroys the world.

Hello. Usually I have no problem ordering through the store. This sale went smooth but then I realized that this book was stolen from the public library. Maybe the seller purchased the book from the library after paying late fees ? Not sure how that works, but this book came from a library in Illinois. Strange.

This book on the other hand is fantastic, along with the first three before is.

Should I return this to library after reading ?

Love the Frankenstein series, but this book was a bit of a dissapointment. It did a great job of connecting with the third novel, Frankenstein Dead & Alive, but did not add much more of a story. Did not seem to have the depth or new discoveries of the past books. The ending did leave room for another novel, very open ended. Almost seemed like too quick of a read!

I enjoy the Frankenstein series. This is my second time through it. So, Mr. Koontz, well done. You write good reads. Why not make the Odd Thomas and Frankenstein series into movies? Bet they would do well at the theaters. I'd watch them, and buy the DVD's.

I really enjoyed the final installement to this series. The frankestein series was by far one of the best by Koontz. Along with the Odd Thomas series they are entertaining and engaging. I find myself totally engrossed in these books and can't put them down till they are finished.

Koontz returns to my second favorite character (after Odd!!!!) in this continuation of the completed trilogy that is as surprising as it is welcome.

Koontz paints the stage with his usual artist's touch. I was concerned the move from the darkness and history of New Orleans would detract, but Koontz proves his characters and story are universal. That the apocalypse comes from the land of fly fishing and mountains only proves Koontz's mastery of the characters and themes he had begun with the "Frankenstein" books.

In typical Koontz fashion the book picks up immediately and quickly gathers both characters and tension until the storyline ripens to a conclusion that will make you want to read the next for sure.

Write quickly Mr Koontz!!!!

This was a great book. Other reviewers said Koontz rehashed the previous Frankenstein book and called it Lost Souls . I disagree .Koontz brought in New characters and new stories. He
also wrote compelling prose . Very glad I bought and read the book.

I would highly recommend this series. There is much to think about while reading - free will, grace, etc. And the book is also funny, which I didn't expect. I only wish there were about five more books in this series. Oh well, there are new "Odd Thomas " books by Mr. Koontz to read.

I was at some disadvantage understanding this book because of not having read the previous books in his Frankenstein Series. But it seems to me that Koontz has brought together ideas and pieces of stories from many of his earlier books and even from works of others (nano-creatures, crime solving couples with witty dialog, unlikely heroes, cocoons[from Robin Cook], quantum mechanics, a simpleton with great wisdom, even a small amount of dog [real and toy]), and has, as in the case of Frankenstein's monster, sewed them all together - with some of the stitches clearly showing. He also reminds me of one of those entertainers who spins plates on the top of flexible vertical shafts, and keeps putting up more and more, returning to some to keep them spinning, until we are sure that some will drop - then he spins still another one. This is how he handles the many characters and themes. The main hero characters, reminiscent of Mr. and Mrs. North, of ancient TV, get off some pretty witty remarks, which, made while they race headlong into danger, seem a little too James Bondish. The science fiction, quantum-mechanics-justified walk- through-walls new model Frankenstein Monster, now reformed and one of the good guys with "Heroes" powers, reminds us of the pre-Odd Thomas Koontz - the weird science Koontz of "Lightning".

Well, all that said, I am severely prejudiced, and to me even a poorly sewn Koontz is enough for a good, entertaining read. However, just as the ubiquitous lecture on morality was ending, and the heroes were assembling to finish the bad guys, and we expect the entertainer to gather up his spinning plates without dropping even one, the entertainer just walks off the stage, leaving his plates spinning, mumbling something about further conflict and Armageddon, and ensuring a sequel. I feel like the kid at the Saturday matinee when at the most exciting part, they flash on the screen - "to be continued". Boo-minus one star!

I purchased this book after I read Dead And Alive and haven't been able to read it. It didn't download correctly and I've tried deregistering it and even deleting the kindle app on my iPad. I'm only able to read the first two chapters.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been looking for this book to complete my collection for a long time. I was a little leery about buying a book unseen. The price was reasonable and it was in great condition. I will continue to purchase new and used books through the store because I feel most people are giving honest descriptions about their products condition and the prices are usually reasonable, even for rare books.
