Love the interaction between Milo and Alex. The writing is always good..kellerman never fails to provide me pictures with his use of language. I was surprised by "the bad guys". Great twists and turns. If you are a fan of the Alex Delaware novels...must read!!!!

I think this will be the last Alex Delaware novel I'll read. Too predictable, yet characters all over the place. Finished it just to be done, but really didn't enjoy it after the first 3rd of the book. Kellerman needs to invent a new character and start fresh.

If Kellerman hasn’t perfected the thriller/mystery series concept, he certainly has raised it to a fine art. Dr. Delaware and Det. Milo Sturgis are the two constants, while other characters – good, bad, and undecided – pirouette in unpredictable orbits around them. Well, some just rest on a slab in the morgue. The concept should get old but never does, because the characters, circumstances, and stories are always cleverly original. And there are always nifty little insights, about philosophies or gewgaws in the background, that keep you fully engaged.
This time, we have a good story, though the action and pacing is kept more at a simmer than a rolling boil. There are plots and subplots, and enough red herrings for two fishmongers. Things move along nicely, but you probably won’t stay up late to read the last chapter. As always, the character development is good, though not quite superb, and Alex’s girlfriend, Robin, makes only the most cursory of appearances.
This is a solid entry in the series, and can very much be treated as a stand-alone novel for those who haven’t previously indulged. Highly recommended.
