This book is mainly for my nephew. As a child growing up I had a hard time reading.
My nephew is going thru the same problems that I had. Fortunately, this book has what
I have been looking for to help encourage him to get involved more in his readings.
The book has simple sentences with brightly colored pictures as well as heroes that
he loves.

I bought this for one of my nieces because she's into that Disney Princess nonsense. I wanted to show her that girls could be Superheros too, instead of just some vacuous eye candy. Well, Wonder Woman IS eye candy, but she is full of action packed feminist substance. I have the feeling this book went unread and tossed aside, much like my hopes for my niece developing into an empowered woman.

It would be better if it had more of a super-hero fighting story behind it. As a background story, it's ok though. I like the Step Into Reading books better because they seem to have better stories. I wish there were more female superhero stories out there for little kids; my daughter once told me that "girls can't be superheros because there aren't any girl superheros".
The Wonder :: Toothless Wonder (Junie B. Jones - No. 20) - Junie B. :: Auggie & Me: Three Wonder Stories :: The True Adventures of Esther the Wonder Pig :: Seven Wonders Book 2: Lost in Babylon

I'm the dad of 3 year old girl/boy twins, so I was looking for a super hero book featuring a heroine. This book was boring with a lot of detail about the origins of Wonder Woman, and very little super hero action. It also highlighted Superman and Batman and made Wonder Woman seem like a second rate team member instead of the "star" of the book. My wife who read the book to my twins also commented on how understated the action was.

My 6 year old was excited to finally read a book about a girl super hero. Unfortunately, Wonder Woman is pretty dated. My daughter kept asking me why Wonder Woman went around in public in her underwear with tall boots. As much as I loved Wonder Woman when I was a kid, I think it's time for a costume update before I let my kids read anymore Wonder Woman books.

The book itself is "okay," but my concern with these "early readers," which I see a lot of parents pushing on 2-3-4 year olds who they hope to turn into prodigies, is they do NOT develop language. They are so basic and limited that they offer no opportunity to develop a rich, varied "ear" or "eye" for language. If your child is already in school, as has been read to religiously -- using books that have rhyme, rhythm, and plot -- then these books are okay. If you are considering purchasing this for a young child instead of a traditional book (Dr. Seuss, Nancy Tillman, Llama Llama), please go with the richer experience and leave these for down the road.

the pages of the book are barely holding up. it should've been listed in fair condition. top and bottom bind of book are destroyed. totally not satisfied but couldn't return because my little one opened the package and wouldn't part from it although now its in pieces being held together by the tape I applied to it

This has become our little girl's favorite book! She requests it read most nights and has now memorized the story so given a picture to prompt she can say she is "reading to herself." The story isn't very complex so it can get repetitive but it's still very cute and I love that her favorite super hero is front and center instead of delegated to a sidekick part.

My daughter was given this book as a present. She was excited about a strong female hero. Then we read the book. Wonder woman wins a warrior contest. Then.....The male super heroes appear and teach her how to be a warrior. Really?

Who doesn't love "Wonder Woman?" She is kick-butt! An awesome crime fighter and the daughter of a queen! She destroys all the false theories that a woman cannot do what a man can do! She slays the gender biases and helps to create an equal space for all boys and girls. Everyone can defeat evil, no matter what gender you might be!

This is a fine book. The writing is simple yet has some challenging words. The art is excellent for a young reader's book, the artist draws people well and the colors are nice. It's good to see that Wonder Woman is strong, happy and has a refreshing innocence. I think this a fine book to introduce your girl or boy to a great superhero.

My 4-year-old son likes this book a lot. It has a very engaging story about how Diana Prince became Wonder Woman and how she fights crime. Highly recommend it.

We have noticed something funny about these "I Can Read" level 2 books with the superheroes: there are two young men that show up in just about every book. One has dark hair and a "soul patch" beard, and the other has red hair, glasses, and a soul patch. Usually they are policemen rounding up the bad guys at the end, but in this book, they are bad guys stealing a tiger. See if you can find this pair in other books! We always have a big laugh when we find them in a new book.

Really, it can do no wrong. It's an origin story about Wonder Woman and her the store origins. The language is great for a young reader and the story content is appropriate too, I think. Hopefully my cousin will love it for Christmas!
