I found this information to be informative and their methodology made sense to me. It also verified a lot of what I had been doing anyway and has turned me into a bit of a "nag" to my husband for changes to his lifestyle.

I've recently read three books on "blue Zones" or "cold Zones"… this one and the Jungle Effect and Okinawa Program. I learned a lot from this book and really enjoyed reading it. My only complaint is it's written as if a reporter had written it, which it was. It makes it a little less readable, and there are a lot of descriptions that don't really add to the information in this book. Out of the three, I much preferred the Jungle Effect, as it inspired me the most and was the most readable.

So much good information about healthier lifestyles! It will be interesting to see where our planet's blue zones will be located 50 years from now. How will our current generation fare? Will our environment be conducive to or counterproductive towards a long, healthy life?

The topic of ways to improve health and well being are worth reading about. During my journey to find where I fit, Blue Zones was just one step forward. I now know that there is more to eating better and living longer than what Buettner reports in his report. More attention needs to focus on meat eating and use of fats/oils in our diet that he really doesn't address.

What I have learned from reading this book is that Americans must change their life style radically if they want to enjoy an ageless, tireless, painless body. I personally switched to a Vegan diet, four years ago and practice most of the recommendations given in this book. My goal is not only the path to a ripe old age, but the quality of life realized by following the guidelines presented in this.book.

Having read volume one, This book just enforces what has already been said. Eat your vegies, make good friends, rest, don't smoke, keep alcohol consumption to minimum, and exercise and have purpose in your life

This was a book club selection that the others loved. Since I've never longed for a 100 years of life, I wasn't as impressed. Also, I didn't think it profound that places with strong communities, respect for the elderly, traditional plant based diets, and rocky terrain would foster long lives.

I was interested initially because we lived in Okinawa when one of the studies (not this book's) was done there in the 90s. Okinawa is like Hawaii without all the flowers.....weather generally very nice and sea nearby no matter where you are. I come from a long-lived family who generally are living into 80s and 90s in various degrees of health....but still mentally alert and physically mobile. I had always attributed that to their involvement with neighbors, friends, groups, playing bridge, reading a variety of materials, and generally active in the world around them. This book pretty much confirms that premise. Since I am now 81, I was interested in what else I can do to maintain my general state of good health.

Bought this as a suggestion from a friend. Easy fun and interesting to read and a Must for anyone that wants to dispel any myths about aging. Our lifestyle determines how we age and this book is proof of that.

What I found so interesting is that there was not one single obvious magic pill.
Some of the zones are wine drinkers. One of the zones consumes virtually zero alcohol.
One of the zones eats virtually zero fish.
One of the zones is as close to vegan as can be imagined.
If there was a common denominator it was the sense of purpose. Why get up? What will I do today?
And the proximity to and interaction with family was present in all of the zones.
I also appreciated that the focus was not about achieving a specific age, but was on the quality of life that was lived in the later chapters of life.
I enjoyed it thoroughly and bought two copies to send to family members.

This book is very informative and entertaining to read. So much to be said about eating fresh produce, making movement a large part of your day and stress free living. Even my husband was anxious to read. I highly recommend it - learned some very important information.

I read the original Blue Zones when it first came out. Since then I've become Vegan to improve my overall health. I am glad to know all the componants that go into enabling one to live a long and healthy life. The revision of this book was very good. Glad to revisit the original material and learn about the new Blue Zone. If you are interested in a long life, this is a book you want to read to reassess your life and see if you might find yourself in a blue zone down the road.

Love reading this book. Blue Zones are those areas in the world where large numbers of residents live statistically longer lives than the rest of us- typically residents live to be over 100 years old. What is different about those people? What do they do that we can emulate? Not surprisingly, we find that diet, exercise, and attitude have a lot to do with happiness and long life. The specific types of diet and exercise may surprise you. I have changed many habits based on the messages shared in this ground breaking book.

I have really enjoyed Blue Zones. There was a lot of information about how people around the world live, that I found very interesting. It also gave me a sense of how quickly some of these special cultures are disappearing.
Great book that was an easy and enjoyable read.

I especially appreciated the background information and the suggestions together. Most of us do not live in such environments but the information is an excellent motivator to improve our lives and possibly appreciate the results of simple clean living.

Although the nine blue zones lessons allow the reader a chance to increase their own life span, The historical conditions strongly linked to all of the Blue Zones assessed (with the exception of the LDS site in California) can not be replicated. Hard physical labor, simple diets, scarcity of red meat and modern conveyance seem to be the key underlying factors modern humans are simply unable to replicate. These Blue Zones seem to be rapidly decreasing, as modern convenience intrudes on these historically isolated areas. Blue Zone vitality coach on line can assist you in setting goals designed to increase your life span. A good read, more folksy in tone than scientific, but a fascinating read nonetheless ......
