I first of all would like to say thank you for selling this not so easy to find book (Remember, Be Here Now By Ram Dass.) I purchased two; one for myself and one to give away. It is a great read for anyone. Also, I am very pleased with the service!

In 1983, while walking through a used book store, I noticed a purple glow emanating between two shelves and was drawn to it. The closer I approached the more my head began throbbing. When I arrived at the shelf my right hand went directly to this book. When I looked at the cover I was deeply entranced. When I opened it, it instantly changed my life by firmly placing my feet upon the path of Yoga. I've had many copies of this book through the past three and a half decades. As a matter of fact, this purchase was for the purpose of a gift. And once again a new set of eyes are open and a soul is awake to it's spiritual perfection.

Deeply spiritual book. Filled with truths and inspiration. Written by a spiritually seeking baby boomer in his young, globe trotting heyday. A tad dated in language, but great reading in it's unabashed willingness to be unashamedly what it is... an exploration in basic spirituality at it's core, without religion, doctrine or defense. One of a kind book, and Ram Dass is still at it in his old age.

Very good book to allow you to visualize your actual size, which is very very small, into perspective. Overall this results in a positive feeling of remembering to be in the moment and not dwell in the past or be to strung out on the "ifs" of the future

Obviously a very popular and epic book; in my opinion, not so much because of what it offers in the way of spiritual understanding, but more that it is the book that launched the career and life of one of the 20th century gurus. I am positively focused toward that era, and, I am constantly looking for any insight into the meaning of life I might find. I know he is considered a spiritual powerhouse, and I thought the book might awaken me. Perhaps my expectations were too high, or perhaps I am just not inspired by this particular path. It may be that I am not attuned to the delivery of the message; for whatever reason, the pages left me wanting.
The book is well written, it is dated in its format and message, but anyone reading it should know that going in. As I said, it is considered an epic work, by a spiritual powerhouse. If you have interest in this particular message, and messenger, then I believe it is important to begin here. However, his later works are more refined and focused to the age we now find ourselves in.

This is the same book that has been loved since it first came out back in the days of Tim Leary. While using psychedelics as the author did may help you get more out of the book, the psychedelics are definitely optional. There is a sort of picture section in the middle that has a bunch of drawn pictures and text. About 20 years ago my cousin was looking through that part of it for a while and then he asked me, "what religion is this?" I told him it wasn't a religion but now I think I would tell him it was Hindu.

This is a wonderful book. My only complaint is that it was difficult to read some of the pages due to the artwork beating almost the same color as the printed words. Also, it was difficult to reasonable of the pages because they were not written linear as most books. Some of the words were circular or staggered which made it difficult to follow along. Other than that, I absolutely loved the book. I too ably would have finished it earlier some of the pages were not difficult to read.

Eh, you're led to believe something different. Then upon reading you find that what the premise is, is at the end, approximately 15-20% of the book. If you're looking for seeing the religious context this book was written under read. You can become enlightened without the dialogue, significant dialogue that led to what you were looking fore
Save your time. Value your time. Sit on a mountaintop, see the sun rise, then visit it again in the evening and watch the sun set and the moon rise. That will be an inner cranium awakening if you pay close attention to its awesomeness- yes it will radiate into you, without the book

book is easy to read, very stimulating psychologically and spiritually.
Ram Das wrote this book that changed the way many people view their lives.
I can say I see things a little differently now.

This is unlike anything I've ever seen or read before. The illustrations alone are mesmerizing. This book has to be read differently since many of the pages words are hidden within the crevices of the adjoining page.
I could see some people complaining about this but these people don't understand art.
A very incisive read and I highly recommend Be Here Now to anybody.

Don't buy the Kindle edition- it's formatted in such a way that the writing is way too small to read without a magnifying glass; lots of enlarging, scrolling and messing around, which detracts from fully attending to the message.

I like Ram Das, I like the way he teaches and his approach. I like how he shares teachings from his guru. This is a funky book and oddly put together. That's part of its charm. Be open minded. Read this in the tub.

extra ordinary. looking to find out more about your true self ... not the self you think you are but the one you sense you are but cant quite see all the way too. well theres a reason for that and if it is worth the adventure to discover how things really are then this is a most sweet place to begin that journey. the journey we all have been on all along. i could write a million words or i could simply BE HERE NOW. Good fortunes to all.

Spritual ideas are simple - it's the practice that's difficult. This shows us the fun and the ideas and also gives us hint of what true spirituality can bring us - mind over matter and control over ones destiny. The book is useful for any level of the spiritual journeyman. It can be opened and referenced like the I Ching. It's a great and humble energy to have lying around.

A classic. It inspired the mindfulness movement. The title inspired the name of the last chapter of our book—Using relationship to be here now. When we stay present, we experience the spontaneity of relationships, which can be scary and wonderful.

95% ofv the book are poorly executed comics that are called "psychodelic". They are just clumsy drawings. The rest is such a fine print that you need a magnifying glas... waste of time and money.. the only good thing about it is that it is dirt cheap

I should have gotten the book when I was in my twenties (over 30 yrs. ago!). But then again, even in my Hippie-dippy days, I didn't particularly care for the countless fonts, script sizes and reading in circles. If you are seeking solid substance and inspiration, read "The Discourses" by Meher Baba. If you took out the repetition and redundancies in "Be Here Now", the book would be about 30 pages.

Interesting beginning, but then it goes into a massive lot of weird illustration and as I am reading the kindle version on my phone it is hard to know if there will be something else to be read after I am done with this endless illustration display.

Give it to folks with cancer or who are facing other lager obstacles in life. I bought a first printing of it years ago and it changed my view of life and the world around me - all for the better. When I was hit with cancer and could not find my old copy I bought the current one and read it every day during chemo. It eases all anxiety.

This is the book for people who choose not to read, the introduction to eastern philosophy that you may have never thoght possible, the reminder of the teachings of Christ that so often times get forgotten about within institutional religion. What I mean to impy is that this book will bring not only inner joy and intellectual fulfillment-- it will (re)remind you of the the simplicity of non-dualism.

I read the author's other book Miracles of Love first and was inspired to read more about or by the author. This book provides Excellent insight into the evolution of an academician into an enlightened soul by the blessings of his Guru the personified divinity Baba Neeb Karori himself.

Was really excited about getting this book because I think it's super interesting but upon arrival, I opened the package and my book was worn down and slightly torn on the top and bottom of the binding

Delivery was fine... but the book was bended inside. Some of the back pages and cover had a permanent line on them. I was bummed. I think whoever put it in the package wasn’t careful enough. I will still enjoy reading it though.

Glue all over the place. And the pages look like they're made from grocery bags. (Remember brown grocery bags?) I had the original book a long time ago but it got damaged in a flood. I know the paper was more coarse but it definitely wasn't brown grocery bag material. Bargain basement Be Here Now. Isn't it worth good paper and well-done binding? I think so. Going back.

I had this from when I was much younger and wanted to reread it and have a copy on hand. This is the only book I now of which requires only that you understand the title. If you truly understand the title you do not have to read it.

I bought this book because apparently it's a classic, but the physical aspects of the book make it totally unreadable. The retail price of this mess is $17, although I paid $11 for it on the store. It's not worh $1. The purple and orange-brown print is so light, it can't be read. Half of the book is horizontal, and the other half vertical. Some pages are brown like thick paper bags, the other pages are so thin they're like onion skin and you could tear a page just by turning a page. Perhaps if you are smoking LSD you might think this is a cool book. I think it's a monstrosity and an insult to the reader, and I've lost all interest in learning what might be between the pages. I took a peek at a few pages, and it was all 60's crazy-ass pooh IMO.

I just had to come back and completely change this review.
My original review of this book was hilarious. I sort of ridiculed it, even attempting to demean it by likening it to a shroomy self help book.
Let me just say on behalf of my past self: "Guys I'm sorry! I had no idea!" Ram Dass is truly an inspirational, admirable figure. And while this book may be hard to grasp at times, I don't think it was ever meant to be lazily grasped in the first place.

Not a review of the book...I love it. But the condition it came. It had a deep tear through many pages. Was really bummed because was giving as a gift. Actually gifted my copy because it was in better shape.

This seemed to be a poorly made copy of the orginal and bound so that it was difficult to see a row of words constricted by the binding. I had an orginal edition of this book years ago. The copy sent to me was quite inferior

Did not enjoy it at all. Perhaps my expectations were off. I was hoping to learn about becoming happier/more content/blissful. Instead of succinct teachings, there was a story (not informative) followed up by a collection of abstract/unhelpful quotes (I think re-posting a collection of quotes as knowledge is pretty lame personally), and then I stopped. I saw something about closing your left nostril and breathing three times out of my right nostril and I gave up. I thought I could handle a little bit of magic and mysticism, but that's all there was to this book. Perhaps, as Ram Dass mentions in the book, "To him who has had the experience no explanation is necessary, to him who has not, none is possible.”
If you're like me and would like to learn about being happy/content/blissful and less anxious, my favorite book by far is "Hardwiring Happiness". Good luck!

Worst book I ever bought. Its just a bunch of pages with short sentences on them, almost no real writing at all. Every page says something like "Believe in your power" or something to that effect. That's it, that's the entire page. Now imagine this for like 300 pages. This book is trying way too hard. Hate it, Hate it, Hate it.

You know, it changed my life. I was given this book a LONG time ago by two good friends when I was in a tough passage in life. (They also gave me a collection of haiku and "The Little Prince".) I had just begun meditating and as I read "Be Here Now" I was confused by much of it, as many likely are, but then I'd hit on some nugget that would touch me and make perfect sense for my own life at that moment.
One great insight that came through was that there are many many paths to enlightenment, across all cultures and times. Then, that enlightened people are frequently misunderstood and misinterpreted. And then that this is just fine. I still refer back to my 50 year old copy of this book from time to time to remind myself of what's true.
I don't claim to be enlightened. I'm not. But this is a fine book if you don't expect that every point and every page will fit into your life. Another book that I've read and reread is Alan Watts' "The Wisdom of Insecurity". It can be a bit dense but it's wonderfully true.

Sorry all, but I found the layout of the content to be incredible displeasing. I don't have the patience to flip a bunch of pages up and read a bunch of scattered oversized words, not even in cohesive sentences, amidst weird drawings. Maybe if I were on acid, but seriously, as a means to find relaxation among a stressful day, trying to read that and make sense of things will honestly just make my head hurt even more. It's creative and funky, I'll give that, but it really should be re-published in a more conventional layout. The 'tripped out' drawings can be put in the margins and the main words put where they should be. I dunno. I don't exactly have time to make sense of things, sadly. If it's not accessible easily, then no matter how 'creative' or 'trippy' it is, it's essentially useless to most people who come across it, except the most dedicated, patient, and time-flexible.

I bought this book because I saw it mentioned in the Steve Jobs book I was reading. He mentioned it had been an influential book. So I receive it and open it and I am like "This has to be a mistake". It has some crazy pages with drawings and stuff, seemed like a man in drugs made some sketches. So I rechecked if the title was accurate and if that was the one that Steve Jobs actually recommended. It was. I tried to be more open minded and started reading it. It's an amazing book, I'd recommend it to anyone in their search for their path in life.
