Bait

Let me start by saying I suck at writing reviews, I mean really suck. So as much as I love certain authors, I should be ashamed for not leaving reviews. I'll do better, from now on. But I'm going to start my sucky reviews with this one. This absolutely beautiful wonderful book.

I love Jade's books, I love her characters, love that her mind is twisty and beautiful and speaks to mine. But none of them captivated me like this one. Leo is one hell of a Monster. He walks around in it like it's his favorite suit. He is comfortable wearing it, isn't ashamed of it. Yet he still manages to be human. It's hard to pull off a monster that is real and human at the same time. Leo does it with style.

Then there is Abigail, I usually am not as fond of the female charrys as I am of the males. They are usually one of two things, wimpy little cry babies or balls to the walls. Abigail is broken and flawed and still has a strength about her you have to admire. Or she never would have gone in search of her monster.

Was this a good book, no, it's a GREAT book, and I was so sorry to see The End. So if you like books with well written characters, an excellent plot line, and with lots of hot *coughs* sweaty things happening. You are going to think this is a great book as well!

Jade West is phenomenal at elevating the erotica genre into something so unique in its depth and emotion. Here, she writes about a man and a woman running from their respective pasts. West taps so successfully into the human condition, creating two characters that make so much sense that they could be anyone you know. She develops into emotions that are so familiar... That depression that many of us have wallowed in after a traumatic event. When you become so numb that you just want to feel anything again. The best part fir me was after Leo and Abigail meet, Abigail feels different at work, acts happier and more present. She's found someone to really listen, and isn't that what we need to feel alive sometimes? Extraordinary story.

An entertaining read to keep you wanting more. This is a very well written, dark romance that is steamy, very different and worth reading. There is a lot of sexual fantasies throughout the story, so if that is something you won't like then look for something else. However if you like that kind of thing then this is definetely worth buying and adding it to your reading library. You will not only love the story but you will also love the characters. They have hot, steamy chemistry and they seemed to be made for each other. This is one book you might want to read in a room by yourself. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This story had me enthralled at first. But then it kept being the same thing over and over. Lots of opportunities to break out of the initial paradigm to create new desires and new ideas. Just didn't happen.

What can I say! I love everything Jade West writes. She is magnificent! She brings light to the dark, wicked, and beautifully mis understood. Bait is a deep novel of reflection when two damaged souls meet in the dark and find the light of love and happiness. I loved the twists and turns. It kept me reading into night and early morning hours. Thanks Jade for another exciting read.

Jade is a master of keeping things fresh. The older I get, the fussier I become about sexy times. Repetitive and boring will have me throwing my Kindle faster than you can say ‘lovemaking’. Jade kills in this department. Added to that, there’s always a story. Good supporting characters. A great finish. I’m a huge fan.

Bait by Jade West definitely lives up to its title. Readers if you're in the mood for a book that tests a person's boundaries and is edgy and dark, then Bait is what you've been searching for. If you have an aversion to characters who like to seek out their darkest fantasies as well as like to live out their filthiest kinks, then this may not be the read for you.

Abigail is a girl who wants to live out her wildest fantasy without the fear of judgment. She is a girl who is seeking her monster. She wants her monster to run after her, to chase her in the dark without knowing his identity, and a person who is strong enough to take whatever he wants without her permission. She just wants to feel alive again. She needs this no matter how insane it sounds, that is her only condition.

Phoenix is Abigail's monster. He is the only person capable of giving Abigail what she so desperately craves. He wants to be her monster in the dark, the beast who breaks her, and a beast who takes whatever he needs from her without question. However, he wants her to be absolutely sure that she is up to living out her darkest fantasies, because once they start there will be no turning back.

The agreement between Abigail and her monster is supposed to be a one off, where anything goes. One night where Abigail can have what she's always desired and more. A night where she can be her true self and let her freak flag fly. A night where Phoenix can let go and indulge in the same darkness as his black sawn.

Bait by Jade West receives a three star rating ⭐⭐⭐! I've been highly anticipating this newest book by Jade West and I'm happy that I got the opportunity to review it. Although, I loved how dark and gritty the book was and the writing was exceptional, the story moved along a little slow in some parts to keep my attention.

This book was absolutely freaking amazing. This is my first book I've read by Jade West and Wow I don't even know why I haven't read any of her other book's this lady is just amazing. Abigail has a past that has left her broken and Leo who loved and lost and is just trying to make it through each day with a son who won't talk and a brother who is a drunk and has amnesia and blames Leo for what happened. I started reading this book and quiet honestly couldn't stop reading it I didn't want the book to end it was just so damn good. If ever there was a book to read this year this book is it get it and be drawn into the story of a monster and his bait.

Bait by Jade West. Phoenix is trying to cope with the death of his girlfriend, a son who has decided to no longer talk and a drunken brother. A fire at his company has basically destroyed his life, which is why he goes by the mane of Phoenix even though his mane is Jake. Abigail had disturbing thoughts for a long time but after a devastating life event which caused her to pack up her life and move to another town. Her apartment reflects her dreary life and now she feels if she act on her dark desires she will feel alive again. Initially I had a time getting into the story but somewhere along the line I couldn’t devoir this book fast enough. This was an interesting tale of several stories in one. The story was fueled by dark desires, lies and betrayal. I have read most of the author’s book and this is up there with my favorites. The story is dark and gritty with some sexual deviants. A very interesting story of two very broken people trying to pick up the pieces of their life by engaging in a type of sex most do not see as normal while in the midst of this story there was a bit of intrigue. Jade is back with this story. The story is reminiscent of her beginnings in storytelling at least for me. I read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I give it 5 stars.

Listen to me, this book is unlike anything I have ever read before. This is not your typical dark romance story. This is not even a story of romance this is a story of two broken people just trying to live on a daily basis. Can i just say that this book is amazing and that it will haunt your every waking moment and even your dreams as you sleep.

Leo & Abigail share the same proclivity for "the chase". And OMG it's dark, gritty and oh so scary. Once the monster is unleashed there is nothing that can hold him back. There is so much action and I was swiping the screen on my kindle so fast I probably looked like a mad woman!

"The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places."

Somewhere in all the madness and brokenness they find themselves. They realize that they have not been living only existing and they try to take back their lives from that broken place. There is hope but they have to dig thru all the darkness and climb over all the obstacles that have built up regret, guilt, remorse, anger and yes, somewhere in all that, love. This book is raw and riveting and so much more than I thought it would be! And on a side note: that cover is fire!!!

Oh my freakin' lord, this book was cruel, (in many senses) + painful, (sex like I've never read before) + suspenseful (so many nuggets and ways the story could have gone) + beautiful, (beauty shines from within) + shocking, (say no more) + emotional, (oh christ on many levels) all this equals a book that is brilliant and unputdownable!

Bait really is a multi-level read, that tugs at your emotions, has your heart pounding and often squashing your legs together during some rather painful scenes! It's so easy to just be in this book, to feel what they do, yep even those barbells! Jade does romance like no other, it's dirty, gritty, visceral, sexually scary, emotive, and oh so very well plotted and delivered. She is and will probably always remain queen of the british dirty romance genre and I applaud her imagination and creative mind.

I started Bait and that was it, I was lost to Leo and Abigail and their pasts and their explosive present. This could very well be my favourite Jade West book so far. Top marks and more, a six star read for me!

Although I received an ARC of Bait for an honest review, I went straight off and purchased it as well - the store UK, how could I not! My reviews are my own and 100% honest.

Where to begin. So, the blurb fit this book perfectly, but actually there is so much more than I thought there would be. At times, it was a tad hard to follow…I guess since both lead characters were hiding secrets, part of me thought they had a past connection. Turns out that Abigail was hurt by a guy in her past and she has relocated and left her old life behind. She ends up looking to fulfil her dark fantasy online. Leo is so complex. So, he responds to her post and it turns out that he has an inner beast that is just waiting to be released. They are the perfect match, but can they be more that a dark and dirty hook-up.

I actually enjoyed the chase aspect of the books and the secrets in Leo’s past were something I didn’t see coming at all. I’m not sure why but something about the flow was a bit off for me. I’m not sure if it was the way the secrets seemed to be drug out longer than necessary or what, but in the end it was more that I was expecting and a fabulous dark and twisted read.

Jade West is always unpredictable. I never know what kind of story i'll get when i open any of her books, and Bait was no exception! I'm not quite sure what i would have like to happen, but one thing is for sure, i wasn't disappointed when it came to Phoenix and Abigail's story.

4.5 sexy dreams

This was the kind of book that made me see just how far people will got to quiet their inner demons. To get rid of some self proclaimed self hate and guilt that they know deep down isn't of their doing. Yet, at the same time, it went to show just what desperation will do to people when it comes down to the last little thread of sanity left in them. While probably not my number 1 hit from Jade West, it still rates on my 5 star rating simply because i was breathless by the end of this book and wanted to know just whose story we could get out of the remaining characters.

I really enjoyed this book. It was exactly what I was hoping for from Jade West.

Abigail is trying to take control of her life but she's struggling. Deciding to tackle the problem head on, she thinks if she lives out her darkest, hidden fantasy that that will help her. Trying to find someone to help her isn't going to be easy and eventually leads her to Leo.

Leo is fighting his own demons but like Abigail, he's struggling. When he sees Abigail's plea for help, he knows that not only can he keep her safe but he'll also be allowed to let his beast out of its cage while giving her what she needs so it's a win win for everyone involved.

Leo and Abigail are both complex characters. They've both dealt with too much heartache and I adored them. The character development in this book is fantastic. The sexual chemistry and the hotness of some of the scenes is unbelievably hot! Bait has a tinge of darkness to it. An erotic, forbidden feel that left me desperate to see how it was all going to end.

Love, love, loved this book!!!! Oh my goodness. This one not only shocked me really good it was also heartbreaking one minute and then had me smiling the next. Sometimes that smile was more a blush but still it gave me all the feels. I've read a few of Jade West books and they all are extremely hot with a lot of uncomfortable moments for my simple vanilla mind. This one was no different. I highly enjoyed the plot to this story. Some may think it's strange but for me I like reading books with this kink in them and the background on both characters gave me what I need for the story to be more interesting. I was hooked from their first meeting online. Loved the darkness to Leo and Abigail was brave and a bit crazy but I loved them both. Every bit of this book was amazing and I loved the last paragraph especially it left me feeling the way an epilogue should. I highly recommend this book. A must read!!!!

Bait is Abigail and Leo's story.
Both have dark pasts, secrets and deep deep issues. They are not only broken, no they are shattered in pieces.
Both play a gangerous game. One is the hunter, the other the bait.
It's hard to review this book because it would be too easy to give it all away. Just know this,
I started reading Bait and Jade West had me hooked at page one. I read this book in one sitting. Bait had me at the edge of my seat. I wanted to put it down and take a breather, but I had to know what happens to the characters, I couldn't put it down.
The writing is brilliant, the story is great and I love the words.
I recommend Bait. When you love a dark mindfudge, you'll love Bait ! I give 5 Stars. Thank you so much , Jade West !

Bait! Jade West. In a word Wow! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed anything I’ve read by this author. She writes a world for us with characters that you can get involved in and or with.
When Abigail called herself Bait I was like dang, she set the tone for the book right there. The need to experience anything no not anything but that one thing to make her feel alive.

Twin souls shattered seeking darkness to play in, addiction obsession all it means to both of them is a need, a craving.

A dangerous game to be played, prey and predator. What’s left but the darkness they each exist in because its not living.

Whew! A book that leaves you… that leaves you, that wont leave you. It will be remembered. Raw, peeled layers of your soul. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, I do recommend it. Enjoy.

This was a delicious, and erotic thrill ride. Abigail and Leo were spontaneously combustable. Their chemistry infectious, and addictive.

You felt drawn to their darkness, and taboo like a moth to a flame. You couldn't help but be drawn into their crazy. Their kind of seduction was dangerous, and sexy beautiful all at the same time.

At the end your emotions were invested, and you knew you were taken along for the ride. Leo was now the man You wish You had, and Abigail was the woman You wish You was.

Leo's alpha dominance was rough, and dirty, even made you breathless, but deep down his soul knew what it needed. Abigail was broken, and wanted to feel the fear, and pain. She didn't know that Leo was more than what she signed up for.

Jade west is one of my go-to authors when I'm looking for something different. Something with that raw, grittiness I've come to know & love about her & let just say that bait does not disappoint.
Abigail has a past she wants to forget. She's got desires she believes are too dark so say out loud. She's stuck in limbo. Living but not really present. That is until she starts an online account searching for Someone to live out her darkest fantasies with.
Phoenix is the perfect monster for Abigail. He's dark, depraved & needs the rush to forget his own past.
This is edgy, dark & raw. It's a super dirty read that I loved every minute of. Can't wait to see what this author brings us next.

BOOK HANGOVER GALORE!!!!!!! This book was a brilliant mind game which was so gripping and twisted that I stayed up til 2:45 am last night to finish it. This book is like no other I have ever read. The storyline was out of the box dark, brooding, psychologically messed up on so many levels. Bait is the kind of book that left me shaking my head and internally saying "why" many times over on the decisions and actions of both Leo and Abigail. The writing is so compelling and beautifully crafted. If extreme dark romance is your thing then grab this book! The best part for me is being able to analysis and discuss this book with a good friend who also was reading at the same time because trust me, who will be venting!

Different than what I thought going in. It's promises of darkness, sex, heart; all met and delivered. We meet two very broken people with a darkness inside they have tried to run from but in the end, crave more than logic. Their pasts are heartbreaking and their draw towards one another is dark, taboo, and twisted but in that need and desire, in the midst of their pain and heartbreak, they find something beautiful. Loving each other frees them.

I was fascinated by their journey from the very first chapter. I couldn't put this book down. There was so much more to it than I expected. I want three more epilogues at least. I want to see more of their new dynamic with all three of them and hope for potentially more.

Jade West knows how to push the boundaries of your imagination, and she does a fantastic job of that in her latest book Bait. Abigail is a girl troubled by dreams about a monster. She meets Leo, also a troubled soul, and their chemistry is intriguing and steamy hot. I love a good twisted read, and Bait really set a new bar, with a newly intense, raw, and enough dirty hot sex to go thermonuclear. When Abigail decides she's going to be the bait for her plans to find her monster, it puts her on a path to hopefully finding salvation for herself,and for Leo as well. Leo and Abigail, two broken people that met online and like the darker side of fantasy. It was certainly interesting reading their, what do I want to say interactions. Rough games? I don't know what I want to say but half the time I was like, oh my. The title says it all. These are my two favorite lines.
"Two strangers circling each other's darkness as our demons said hello. I want to break her."
"Almost hate myself for the way she makes me feel. The way she summons all the broken parts of me and makes them sing."

Uh...yep. That pretty much sums it up right there. It was good though, probably one I've enjoyed the most from her.

Holy Hell this book was FANTASTIC!!!! Brilliantly written. It was dark, twisted, suspenseful, intriguing full of drama, twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your chair and of course love. I was so hooked from the very beginning. I was swept away into another world. Phoenix and Abigail were some phenomenal and complex characters. Both suffered from horrible experiences from there past that weighed on them. I don't want to give away any spoilers because you really need to read the story to understand. I super highly recommend this book if you love dark romance. I voluntarily read an advance readers copy of this book. I can't wait for more from Jade West.

I've read and loved ALL of her books but Bait is truly Jade West at her brilliant best!
Flawless writing, beautifully flawed characters, palpable emotion,raw gritty dirty sex and an emotional roller coaster of love/hate, family ties, truth and lies, love & loss and healing what's broken. Sometimes no matter how crazy dark and jagged our edges are, there's a place where they fit perfectly together filling the holes and completing the puzzle.
Bait is a must read! ☆☆☆☆☆
