Just finished The St. Paul Conspiracy and have to say it was an excellent, very well written suspense/thriller book. The characters were witty and the story line was fast paced. I read the book in a few days, and want to see Mac McRyan back in another book. For me, this author falls into the same arena as Henning Mankell (the Kurt Wallander series). I would buy another Detective McRyan book in a heartbeat. I could see this book made into a movie!

Just finished reading....love the flavor of the young, charming, gungho, educated police officer and his equally charming love interest. His disseveled partner made for an interesting contrast but worked nicely. The story was about corruption & greed in corporate America, which is quite common today, but dealt with by a group of men in blue who would not quit until they were brought down. I love it when the good guys win! This was the first book in the series. I had already read the second book. It didn't matter that they were read out of sequence. I hope there will be more in the McRyan series.

I just love Mac McRyan and Roger Stelljes for having created his character! This book grabs you right at the beginning and doesn't let go. Twists and turns and then some more developments and my head is spinning and I can't put it down! Read this book!!!!

The plot here is frightening, suspenseful and is presented very well. Lots of twists and false leads that keep your interest at high entensity. Lt. McRyan is a believeable character and I liked the way the author presented McRyan's detective skills. There is a little romance here that promises to become more developed as time passes. I hope Mr. Stellies is in the process of writing another McRyan mystery or even better has one that is ready to be released.
I recommend his books to anyone who enjoys his style of writing.

Thought at time that there were too many fillers that didn't add anything to the story line the ending was typical, however I did get involved with the characters but wished the author's description of each was less.

In my humble opinion if Stelljes can continue with this outstanding quality of writing he will be mentioned in reference to Connelly, Woods & Sanford. Patterson is still the master but Stelljes Soo good. You know who the players are. He holds you spell bound reading how a detective gets the feeling something is off,, the process of putting a case together that will stand up in court. Military & law enforcement has been a constant since I was a child, Stelljes is on point.

This book is compelling from start to finish. It is full of intrigue, action and even romance. Great cast of characters involved in catching a very clever serial killer. The author skillfully keeps you guessing all the way.

McRyan quickly solves the murder case he is recently given, While the evidence is clear, he has doubts in the back of his mind. He is then assigned to help out with a serial killer case that was running at the same time. He stumbles onto a CCTV camera that has been knocked out of position and the killer is tracked down as a result. Further investigation reveals that one of the victims is a copy cat murder to cover up for another crime. This leads to the discovery of the true killer in his first case.

Well written. The story very intriguing and difficult to put down until it was finished. Characters had personality and were believable without overdoing it. The basis of the story was realistic. This story prompted me to read another with the same MC.

This author built up suspense throughout the novel in a masterful way. Fast paced to the core. The plot kept my attention and there was no way I wanted to put the book down. Love the way he put this story together! My favorite of this author's mysteries so far!

The grammar, sentence structure, missing italics (when someone 'thinks' about something it should be in italics), and weird word usage were highly annoying. This book seriously needs an editor! The only reason I gave it two stars is that it was a monumental effort on the author's part and it wasn't a CLIFF HANGER! The story has a beginning, middle and end!

The cardboard characters, the constant use of somewhat nasty terms to describe the female anatomy and the inane dialogue left me less than enthralled. As did the constant stereotypes and I simply couldn't get interested in any of the characters.

I did read the entire thing, not exactly sure why but I did — perhaps because I was dumb enough to pay 99 cents for it. I won't be buying, or reading, any more of Mr. Stelljes books...

This is the second book I have read
By Roger Stellijes the other was Fatally Bound also a Mac McRyan mystery series book. They were both very good with a lot of suspense and action I'm looking forward to reading more of his books.

Engaging plot line kept my interest. Not as good as Jeffrey Deaver or Ridley Pearson, but they only crank out 1 book a year so I am always looking for other new authors with potential. I could definitely get into these characters in a series.

I downloaded his first book because it looked interesting and it was free. I couldn't put it down and bought the next one as soon asI finished the first. It was even better and I can't wait to read the next. The characters are real, the plot well thought out, and the ending unexpected. Stelljes is an awesome new artist and I am thrilled to add him to my list if favorites. If you love suspense, with lots of plot twists, and the perfect amount of romance, then Stelljes is the author for you!

Well written for a first attempt. I love his style. Slick, current and not to spicy. He focuses on the story line and draws you incompletely. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more of his books. Reminds me a lot of Robert Patterson and the Alex Cross series.

Great story, characters were well developed and the plot was believable. Just the right amount of twists and turns. Sally and Mac make a great team. The supporting cast have their quirks and strengths. I will be buying the next installments.

Love a good detective story and enjoy a "series" with a smart, tough, honest, endearing detective. This book is well written. Just be ready to burn some midnight oil! Can't wait to read Book 2. I miss Robert Parker's "Spenser" series, and was hoping for just this type of read! Thank you, Roger Stelljes! Please keep them coming!

Roger Stelljes wrote a well planned, intricate, well paced thriller. I hated to put it down and was right back at it as soon as possible. His characters were a mix of human frailties and clever deduction. Although Mac is the 'star' of this book, others also contributed to the solution of the crimes and shared the limelight! I highly recommend this book and all books written by Roger Stelljes.

Really enjoyed the characters - including the budding romance - nice touch. Story line was believable, fast paced but not that you were confused. Enjoyed the read - looking forward to reading others.

The adage that you get what you pay for certainly applies to The St. Paul Conspiracy with my sympathies to anyone who paid more. I kept reading until the very end, hoping that it would fulfill its potential. The plot could have worked until it climaxed in typical B-movie fashion. The characters are trite and predictable: an Irish cop whose family were all cops; his overweight partner; the hot ADA; the bad guy "misnomered" as the "assassin." Stelljes' writing relies on adverbs for description, sometimes using the same one in consecutive sentences. The dialogue is forced. The descriptions are uninteresting. He gives us the backstory of the characters all in one long passage rather than create interest by allowing the details to come out gradually. The humor attempts are pathetic, relying in one instance on racist urban legend.

This is the second Roger Stelljes work I've read. I enjoy thrillers, conspiracies, and mysteries. The St. Paul Conspiracy was easy to read and interesting enough to keep me reading. It's detailed enough to give you an understanding of the surroundings without over doing character development. I'm interested in more of the authors work.

Pretty obvious story. I figured it out at just past half way through. Characters are thinly developed.
Grammar is awful ( for example, confuses then and than) to the point where it is annoying.
So it is a good airplane read but not much more.

I enjoyed the first book and most of the second. I was disappointed of the way the author worded some details, such as: "scratched his ass", to name one. Completely unnecessary a nd took away from what was an enjoyable read. Little things that seemed juvenile to put in this book. Overall I liked it, but was disappointed.

Another great thriller by Stelljes. He now ranks very high on my list of favorite authors and McRyan is one of my favorite characters. I am over halfway through the next book in the McRyan series. Another great read so far.
