Great price. Very pleased with purchase and would highly recommend to anyone. As you can see I love reading and I loved reading this book. Great visual imagination and helps you to see Christ as a child.

Everyone wonders about the hidden years of the life of Christ as a boy. Anne Rice does a wonderful job "filling in the blanks" of what might have been - and has done an amazing amount of research to make it as realistic as possible. All this in an enjoyable, readable format. I rated this book as a five due to the fun I had reading it and I will also be reading the sequel with just as much pleasure. I'd recommend this book to anyone who's ever wondered just what did happen during those years as these books give you a possible clue. Jesus as a boy is something that I've always wondered about and I can't possibly be the only one!

This continuing saga lacks the intimacy of the first book in the series. The author tries too hard to make her novel fit the Bible. As a result her characters are less believable. Good read though.

This was definitely worth reading. While the story was fiction, it certainly was real. It provided some important insights into the people and culture of Jesus childhood. It is refreshing to consider what it would have been like for Jesus to be a person who was discovering his deity rather than a deity occasionally acknowledged to be a person.

Have read both "life of Christ" books from Mrs. Rice, both beautiful soft and comforting. This one is a faster read and I loved how scripture started appearing with in the journey. Been a fan for a lot of years, even more so now.

This second in the author's planned four-part life of Christ, "Road to Cana" is as rich as the first in conveying the atmosphere of His time and the poignant awakening in Christ of His gifts and mission. Having no previous experience with Rice's works (I'm not a vampire fan), I am enchanted by her writing and impressed by the depth of her biblical research. Definitely looking forward to the next two volumes.

Anne Rice's Jesus deeply touches one's heart with his innocent wisdom, his vulnerabiity, the magnitude of his caring. It is personally heartrending to know what is coming. The Greek word for "to believe in" has the connotation "to trust, have confidence in." Like no other book I've read, this book brings me most clearly to that trust.

Christ the Lord: The Road to Canada is a wonderful and well-developed story that makes the reader feel as if they are experiencing the story firsthand. A wonderful insight to what our Lord may have been feeling at the time.

Again, both books are excellent. I had the feeling that Ms Rice knew somehow exactly what she was saying and how. It did not come across as a Novel but more of a revelation of sorts. It certainly proved that she is highly qualified to write about any subject she desires.

This review is aimed mainly at Christian readers.
I have enjoyed a number of Mrs. Rice's earlier novels, despite elements that I found personally objectionable, because she is such a wonderfully talented and entertaining author. As years passed, she became ever more profane and blasphemous, and I could no longer feel comfortable reading her books.
I was pleasantly surprised several months ago to come across a favorable article about her in World Magazine. As a result I bought this book, but set it aside for a later date. As a long time student of theology and of Jewish history, I was expecting this to be completely off the wall, goyish (gentilized, so to speak), perhaps even antiSemitic, and trivial.
I couldn't have been more wrong! An autobiography by the Son of God is, of course, a "silly" idea (but not a bad literary device, it turns out), and as an Evangelical Protestant I don't agree with some of her Roman Catholic Biblical understanding. Yet those things are unimportant. Her understanding of Jesus' devout Jewishness and the culture in which He grew up is totally in accord with my own understanding and beliefs. Above all the reverent treatment which graces her treatment of the subject matter is truly inspiring. My heartfelt thanks and contratulations to Mrs. Rice...
I highly recommend this book to all who worship Jesus, and to any Jew or Gentile who mistakenly believes that Jesus was a rebel in His own culture.

This book provided a fresh and thought provoking look at this period of Christ's life. I also enjoyed the section at the end of the book where the author describes her personal journey of return to faith.

I loved this book (even better than Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt). It was full of description, historical background was well-developed, and the speculative biography of the Christ absolutely wonderful. It's a tall order, and Anne Rice has done it well. I cannot wait for the next volume in this series.

This was a very thoughtful and well written novel. I appreciate the amount of scholarship and research that was put into the crafting of this book, but also the sensitivity and simple nature of the writing. I look forward to more.

This book is outstanding! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Reading Anne Rice's work, since she returned to her faith, has been a gift for me. My friends and I have shared our reading and we all agree that these are outstanding books. The Road to Cana was my favorite, better even than Out of Egypt, which I also enjoyed.

Anne Rice has once again stepped up to the plate ---
This book is beautifully written , I could not put it down until I finished it.
The most touching part of the book was Jesus encounter with Satan, the script is powerful & I constantly think of the passages. Brava Anne you have done it AGAIN !!!

I read CHRIST THE LORD during Christmas holidays, therefore it captured my thoughts continually as I decorated our home. I read it again New Years. Anne did an outstanding work on those early years of Jesus. He has been my Savior for 74 years now, but this book drew me intimately to His humanity like never before. Thank you Anne for responding to His prompting to write this Novel and many more to come.

I have enjoyed the journey of Christ's childhood immensely. It is written to be understood and bring to life a tale or legend most of us are, to some degree, familiar with. I have been transformed, renewed in my faith. Thank you

So very well written! The humanity of Jesus was opened for me in this book. He became so real and accessible. I cried when He surrendered the opportunity to live a "normal" life with a wife and family. I have always focused on His sacrifice on the cross... this account of His life showed me all the many ways He sacrified for us on His way to the Cross..very moving and not at all dry.

Even better than CHRIST THE LORD. I've read that Anne Rice will not be finishing this series. Too bad. Her interpretation brings light to the believer. I waited a long time to read this second installment, and it was worth it.

This audio book, although a novel, has been so wonderfully researched and presented.
The message from the author explains so very much. Very grateful to have found this, as I read the book years ago.

This beautiful and loving book has refreshed my faith and my love in Jesus Christ. He is real to me, and reading this work has made me feel as though I were eye witnessing the impact this Christ Child would have on all creation.forever and ever. Although written as fiction, I am so impressed with all the research Anne Rice has done to support her heart rendering story. I could feel Him. Thank you for this precious book.

Anne Rice has characterized the childhood life of Jesus in a way that is believable, yet struggles with the theologic issues of divinity vs. humanity with grace and wisdom.
In reading Anne Rice's own commentaries about her desire to write this book, and her feelings behind its completion I am happy to see a book that embraces traditional doctrine, and preserves the uber-worldly quality of the Christ child. To see a boyhood Jesus struggle with his own identity, and with the lives of his family and community adds to my personal faith journey in a way that was completely refreshing.
Anne Rice fills in the gaps with realistic dramatization, instead of breaking down with unrealistic speculation

As Rice does profoundly well in many of her novels, this book is read as if riding on the cadence of the young christ's song. Rice is a master at constructing the context, richness, texture and melody of a story. The story turns out to be not the usual complicated and incoherent story of many of Rice's other books--she knows the story she is to tell. The story is simple and clean and ends beautifully. It is like but a sip of a very fine wine--not too much, just enough to savor. She does justice to the profound story by not trying to push it too hard. She lets the story be what it may be. Very nice.

My husband read this aloud to me. Each evening we would take time to read a chapter. Often we would refer to a particular chapter and verse in the bible. Ann Rice's writing is detailed and descriptive of the area and family life. We experienced a deeply emotional response to the moving narrative.

Still very interesting. Interesting enough to ok keep me reading and wanting to read the last book. It did get rather slow at one point, where I actually put the book down for over a month. But ironically, when picking it up again, I realized I was already on the last chapter when after all of a sudden; it was done. Now I have to wait.

I read this not sure what to expect. I absolutely loved it. I understand it is a novel yet but it gives our Lord a story that is just engrossing. I finished this and The Road to Cana (part 2) in 3 days. It just kept me enthralled. I can't wait for part 3.

This is a beautifully done continuation of Anne's "Christ the Lord" series. Her characterizations are brilliant, her story-line faithful to the Scriptures, and her theology superb. I loved the first book, "Out of Egypt", and this one was even more satisfying.

THIS IS AN VERY GOOD INTERPRETATION OF THE LIFE OF CHRIST AS A YOUNG MAN. EVEN THOUGH IT IS WRITTEN AS FICTION, I FOUND IT VERY USEFUL FOR MY SPIRITUAL WALK WITH CHRIST. IT ALLOWS ME A CLOSER IDENTIFICATION WITH THE HUMANITY OF CHRIST. IT WAS AN EASY BUT ENTHRALLING READ. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT AND EAGERLY LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK

Great read. Not surprised. She has always dialed in the overtones of her battle to understand God in many of her books like "The Wolves of Midwinter". Helps me understand the context of the time of Jesus.
