Like all books from this author I found this entertaining, well-written and a great way to pass the time. It is, as many books are these days quite similar to others things I have read. The female lead is the only one with the power to save the world, the dark hero finds love for the first time in centuries, and a bevy of interesting human and non-human periphery characters move back and forwards to the forefront of the series. The difference is that when well-done readers don't care. The author has a style that is consistent and never disappoints.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.

This author continues to surprise me. I finished Carved in about 24 hours even though it wasn't really a short novel. I was rather engrossed in the book as River and Kobal's journey progressed further. In this book they leave the relative safety of the wall and start towards the opening to Hell. Unfortunately they encounter some nasty demons and...things along the way. There are human casualties as well as a few humans who are barely keeping it together as they watch the atrocities unfolding. I mean, you've got gargoyles, screaming blood lusty vines, and a creepy angel room. It's no wonder people are losing it. Whereas the first book was not as scary, this one is definitely demon and the pits of Hell oriented. One of my favorite things in this book were the skelleins. They were hilarious and yet kind of creepy. But I would love to see more of them! Can't wait until the next book in the series comes out. I am hooked!

When we last left off, River was extremely upset with Kobal due to something he had done in book one so she decided to keep her distance. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, Kobal was not going let her go that easy.

Eventually they worked out their issues and it was great to see them finally admit their feelings towards each other.

The story wasn't all love and butterflies. The action was heart stopping and the battles they faced were crazy. I so don't want to spoil it, but I can't wait to see what happens with this certain character in the next book. Something interesting happened to this individual that hopefully won't cause any problems in the next book. We shall see!

Five stars

Another well written, high intensity, intriguing story that will leave you on the edge of your seat, anticipating the next book. I keep telling myself that I am not a paranormal/supernatural book lover, and Brenda K. Davies keeps proving me wrong. The story is so well written that the paranormal, while integral to the story line, feels believable.

For all those who think you may not like this genre, this series will prove you wrong!

OMG. Another Phenomenon read.
River and Kobal are faced with some testing trials along the way to Hell. Can they face up to their feelings for each other and defeat what Lucifer puts in their path.
As ever River struggles to follow Kobal's rules to keep her safe.
You really need to read this book. Best page turner I've read so far.
Absolutely awed by Brenda Davies. Love her books.
