As always I enjoy her books, they move fast, and she always gets the person she is after, and yet as a person not being a cop for the moment - she seems lost as how normal things are handled. Like how to dress, or how t set up for a party. She never had any of that as a child - but Roark (her husband) takes good care of her and helps her solve her cases. Yet she never forgets her past - Great book

I really enjoyed this book in the In Death series! Plenty of personal stuff but lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing! Love this series. Some of the novels are better than others. I feel this is one of the best!

This was a good story. The perp was not identified early, and while smarter than most criminals, his downfall was based of understanding how he thought and using that against him. Most criminals are dumb and even the few smart ones fall because they must use dumb ones who screw up. The futuristic stuff is fun, and hopefully in the real future. Not having bad guys who never die or get caught for many stories is realistic. The only criminals that are hard to catch are those who do crimes that are not connected, have no continuing motive or connection. This one became the only suspect because his second violent act eliminated the other suspect and gave clues on how to bring him down. It was interesting all the way through.

Another great entry in this series. Susan Ericksen is a treasure--does a fantastic job with all the characters and really bring them to life. I have read all the books, but I have enjoyed listening to the audios as well. I highly recommend this product!

Nora Robets, writing as JD Robb, has somehow produced this miracle of storytelling through her innate talent as a best-selling writer. I'm in awe of her imagination in coming up with such complex murder mysteries. The main characters, especially Homicide Lieutenant Eve and her billionaire husband, are so well developed and vivid, you feel like they are real people you know deeply and hope to meet. They have faults, integrity, fight, love deeply, and hurt just like the rest of us mere mortals. You root for them and feel strongly about their adventures and relationships, quests, and paths towards justice and finding love. The investment in owning the entire series was worth every single penny because Roberts stories are just that amazing, and always a cut above the rest!!! A must-have series for anyone recognising quality.

This time I did not get further than the beginning of the book when I realized I could not finish it. Before I say anything further, I want to make it clear I am NOT a Catholic so my absolute sincere and deep-seated distaste does not come from personal anger at the disrespect for Catholicism displayed in Salvation In Death.

What I have no longer the ability to tolerate is the arrogant superiority and disrespect for everything and everybody so infuriatingly displayed by "Lieutenant" Eve Dallas.

She hadn't even seen the corpse yet - said corpse having been a Priest - before she was speculating about sexual misconduct and other sins which he may have committed. She talks on the phone with an Assistant to the Bishop in a Manhattan diocese, with such inexcusable and uncalled for lack of respect that it made me cringe. The recipient of her vituperation had done nothing to deserve such treatment except that he did not IMMEDIATELY comply with "Lieutenant" Dallas's demands.

And, as I said, I could go no further. No excuse regarding her childhood could justify the Harpy Nora Robert's created. The Lieutenant takes her greatest pleasure in verbally eviserating practically everyone she comes in contact with, most of them totally undeserving of such treatment. This is the 27th book in the series, and with each of Robert's books, Dallas becomes increasingly despicable. It's hard to enjoy a book when you despise the so-called heroine.

What I ever saw in the In Death series to begin with, I don't know - perhaps it was Rourke. However, I do know, Rourke notwithstanding, I can no longer deal with, let alone, enjoy, Eve Dallas, or her outright sadism. I personally recommend not wasting any time at all reading this book. Renee

All of "in Death" books by JD Robb are terrific! What more is there to say - just keep them coming. I have read every one of them; I actually ordered these for my cousin so she could enjoy them too.....

Compelling and depressing This stand-alone is easy to follow but difficult to read due to emotional content. Violence and the Catholic religion are a major part of this book. No drag-you-down drama.

Intriguing storyline with plenty of twists to keep the reader's interest. Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking dialogue.

'The Church ruling is very clear. And rules often ignore the human and the individual factor. I think God ignores nothing. I think His compassion for His children is infinite. I can’t believe, in my heart, God closes his door to those in pain, to those in desperation.'

I will re-read this story and always look forward to works by this author.

This book had little to no development. The book dragged in places. I hope that future books have something more...like a revelation or something...If I wasn't a die hard fan, and this was the first book I read by this author, it would be the last book I read by her. However, there was enough of a progression to keep me coming back for more with the hope that the next book will bring back the "I can't go to bed until I finish this book" feeling I have gotten from previous books.

This is the 32nd book, when including novellas, in the In Death Series.

In the year 2060 during the Catholic funeral mass of a popular figure in Spanish Harlem, a beloved priest raises his cup of wine, drinks, and falls dead. Homicide Lieutenant, Eve Dallas, and her partner, Detective Delia Peabody, are brought in from the New York Police and Security Department to investigate the death. Who would kill a priest during mass? And more importantly, why? With every step of the investigation, more questions than answers arise, as all isn't as it appears on the surface.

The reasons this series remains to be my all time favorite are numerous. I can read and reread the 30 plus books and I am always guaranteed a cleverly written and imaginative book. I feel the characters in J.D. Robb's world are some of the greatest and most colorful characters in today's fiction. The mystery, the suspense, the killers and their victims, Eve and her friends, the passion on the pages... all contribute to great book after great book.

Eve and her husband Roarke don't always see eye to eye where the law is concerned. He deals in various shades of gray while Eve tends to see the world in black or white. This is one of those rare times when she is forced to see the gray, and I think it makes her character stronger.

Running alongside with the compelling case of the murdered priest with a mysterious past is a shorter similarly related case regarding a larger than life reverend and his traveling evangelical troupe.

As always I am constantly amazed at the stories Ms. Robb creates and consistently pleased with the way she delivers them. This is another winner in a series filled with champion books.
