I wrote a fairly harsh review of Collins' most recent Lucky Santangelo book, Drop Dead Beautiful. In it, she forced Lucky's annoying 16 year old daughter Max (Maria) to carry the book. The result was unspectacular to say the least. Poor Little Bitch Girl, while not strictly a Lucky novel, is a much better effort. While the majority of the action focuses on three 25 year old women, Denver, Carolyn and Annabelle who went to high school together, Bobby Santangelo is a key figure and there are guest appearances from Brigette, Max and of course, Lucky.

The book itself has an unusual format - it moves through the viewpoints of the three women and Bobby. All of the voices in the book, bar Denver's, are in third person. Denver's is in first person. I liked Denver in first person but the frequent jolt from "he" or "she" etc to "I" took some getting used to. My only other complaint is one common to Jackie Collins novels - stereotyping. Carolyn was hopelessly naive, some of the "gang bangers" were the usual Collins villains what with the murdering, raping, stealing, selling out family but hey, at least there were no members of the Bonnatti family popping up.

All in all, this is vintage Jackie Collins - the names of the stars change but the game remains the same and when the heroine is as likable as Denver and the hero is our own Bobby Santangelo, who can argue with that? Collins did the Santangelo's proud with this book.

This was my first book by Jackie Collins. I enjoyed the way the stories of the characters started out separately and then intersected.
Some scenes offered suspense while a couple elicited a chuckle. It made you wonder if Carolyn was naive or stupid, how long before she saw the writing on the wall? I loved Bobby. In a way he presented as a naive rich boy in fancy with high profile women. Denver was a curious character, not sure if she was looking for love, not sure if her actions were whorish but enjoyed the activity all the same and then her bedroom shocker was as shocking to her as me. The senator, he needed more punishment for his actions. I was hoping for it but my hope didn't materialize. Annabelle, the poor little bitch girl seemed to take a back seat. I think Denver, Bobby and Carolyn stole her lime light. Looking forward to reading more from Jackie Collins.

Poor Little Bitch Girl
By Jackie Collins

New York's number one madam, Annabelle Maestro must return to Las Angeles when her movie star mother has been murdered and the prime suspect is her legendary film star father. Denver Jones is a hot shot attorney in L.A. who used to be friends with Annabelle and is pulled onto the case all the while Denver's best friend Carolyn Henderson assistant to a married senator and finds out she is pregnant with his child. Then we have the heart throb Bobby Santangelo Stanislopolous, friend of Annabelle's drug addicted boyfriend, when he runs into Denver the sparks fly and that is only the beginning of this story. Murder, Hollywood, Scandal, and Prostitution this novel has a little bit of everything for everyone.

Jackie Collins manages to intertwine four stories into an incredible novel. I have never before read a Jackie Collins novel she is another author I have seen everywhere but when I saw the title of this novel I just couldn't resist. This novel is not for the faint of heart if you don't enjoy a good sizzling sex scene then you should certainly look elsewhere for your pleasure but if you do Jackie Collins doesn't disappoint. Piled full of lust and intrigue this is a remarkable novel.

Annabelle Maestro, the daughter of movie stars Ralph Maestro and Gemma Summer, broke away from her famous parents and Los Angeles where she grew up and began a new life in New York City. While everyone thinks Annabelle is working in the fashion world, few people know that what she's really doing is running a very lucrative, high-class call girl ring with her cocaine-addicted boyfriend, Frankie Romano.

Denver Jones is now a hotshot L.A. lawyer who is making a name for herself defending the rich and famous. Recently split with her boyfriend, Denver is looking for love in all the wrong places and selling her soul to the devil in order to succeed.

Carolyn Henderson is the personal assistant and mistress of U.S. Senator Gregory Stoneman and is loving her life in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, the Senator is married with children, and while he keeps promising to leave his wife, Carolyn has seen no sign of this happening. However, a recent development has given her a bit more leverage, and she plans to pressure the Senator into keeping his word.

Annabelle, Denver and Carolyn all knew each other as girls growing up in Los Angeles, but life has led them in different directions. Now, the murder of Annabelle's mother has brought them all back together again. Annabelle is devastated by the death of a woman she barely knew, and the fact that her self-absorbed, macho father is a suspect isn't helping matters at all. She has no desire to be thrust back into the spotlight as the daughter of two famous people, nor does she have any desire to confront the ghosts of her past. But family duty beckons, and her father orders her to come home.

Denver is part of Ralph Maestro's legal team and has been assigned the dubious honor of fetching Annabelle back home and babysitting her while she's there. That's unfortunate because Denver has much more on her mind than a stuck-up, over-privileged friend from the past. She has just broken up with her boyfriend, taken a hot Latin lover and has a fling with a sexy writer while in New York. She's much more interested in her love life than being a lackey to Annabelle.

Denver is also worried about Carolyn. As adults, Denver and Carolyn have kept in touch and Carolyn is due in L.A. for the Christmas holidays. Unfortunately, they are playing phone tag and never seem to connect. Carolyn is busting to tell her the news about herself and Senator Stoneman, but the time is never right. When Carolyn goes missing, Denver is torn between her career, her duty to Annabelle and her father, and her friendship with Carolyn. Making a split-second decision, she leaves L.A. and heads to Washington to find the ultra-responsible Carolyn, who would never disappear without letting someone know where she was.

As if all this weren't enough, rich, privileged and gorgeous Bobby Santangelo Stanislopoulous, son of Lucky Santangelo, is back in the picture as well. Denver had a major crush on this childhood friend, but he never even knew she was alive. Now Denver is hoping that may change during this little impromptu class reunion of sorts. Hopefully, with all the old gang reunited, they'll be able to get to the bottom of Gemma Summer's murder, locate Carolyn and get back to the people they were meant to be before life interfered and turned them into individuals they no longer know.

Jackie Collins's latest sizzling novel is a great read. Who doesn't love a good scandal? In POOR LITTLE BITCH GIRL, there's scandal aplenty. It's one of those books where you just have to keep going to see what happens next. Those of us who don't live the lives of the rich and famous will enjoy this fun glimpse into another world.

Anabelle Maestro the daughter of two hottest and highest paid actor and actress in Hollywood. She is the one in the cover. Spoiled, rich, beautiful, sexy and wild. Which also means unappreciated, insecure, selfish. She moved to the east coast after dropping out of college in Boston to get away from her parents' fame and to venture on her own, she did alright, together with her coke addict boyfriend Frankie Romano they are raking in millions, running a very lucrative business - the high end prostitution ring in New York, geared for the most powerful, rich and famous men.

Bobby Stanislopolous, son of the late Dmitri Stanislopolous, a shipping tycon and Lucky Santangelo a successful business woman who own a chain of hotels in Vegas and is married to Lennie, a Hollywood hot shot. Bobby partnered up with his best friend M.J, and together they are the owner of the hottest club in Manhattan- Mood. Bobby is obviously born into a family of achievers, in this book he seems to be the most successful and luckiest man, career wise. He is a loser when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex. It's not that he is bad looking, no. He was described as hot but he seems to picky and he seems to be attracted to women who seems to belittle him. One of these women is the cougar Megastar Zeena who has an annoying penchant in referring to herself in a third person every time she have a conversation with people.

Denver Jones is a twenty something hotshot attorney in a prestigious law firm based in Los Angeles, she did two highly publicized case and won both of them. She used to be Anabelle's friend, and also went to high school with Bobby, MJ. One day, Gemma Summers, the most beautiful and talented actress in Hollywood was shot in the face inside her L.A mansion. Her boss Felix, put her on the case, looks like she is going to reacquaint herself with an old friend, since Gemma Summers was Anabelle's mother.

Carolyn Henderson, is Senator Stoneman's assistant and mistress. She is educated, young and beautiful and she is my least favorite character. Nothing is fascinating or intriguing about her. Did she really believe that an ambitious Senator that she's been sleeping with for two years will leave his wife with excellent social and political connection and the father of his two kids? just because he managed to impregnate her? Carolyn is obviously a stupid and delusional, naive girl. Does she not watch TV?

I've never read any of Jackie Collins' book been eyeing them for sometime now but I was never really serious of buying one. So I am extremely grateful that this copy was sent to me for review. Now I am a fan. I love this book. It has murder, glamour, sex, money, and juicy scandals.

Annabelle Maestro is the daughter of famous film maker, Ralph Maestro. Annabelle is used to living the good life. So when her father will no longer give her handouts, Annabelle has to find a way to survive. With the help of her coke-addict boyfriend, Frankie; Annabelle and Frankie start up a high priced call girl business.

Denver Jones is an up and coming successful lawyer. Denver has just scored the biggest client of her career...Ralph Maestro. Mr. Maestro is the number one suspect in the murder of his wife. Denver has not seen any of the Maestro's since, she and Annabelle were little girls in school.

Carolyn has fallen for a married senator. She can't wait for him to leave his wife, so that they can be together forever. In fact he is the father of her unborn child.

Bobby Santangelo is the famous son of Lucky Santangelo. Lucky has made appearances in several of Ms. Collin's novels. Bobby and Denver hook up.

Poor Little Bitch Girl had its highs and its lows. This book read like a soap opera...all the drama. At times I couldn't take it. At the beginning of the book, I really got into Annabelle, and Denver. Then about middle of the book, I really got into Carolyn and Annabelle. The only person I never really found any interest in was Bobby. Though, he had his hands in a little bit of almost everyone's business. My biggest issue was that there wasn't anything about the characters that really made me want to like them, other than Carolyn. Even then it took me a while to warm up to her. She started out weak but grew by the end of the book. Overall, Poor Little Bitch Girl gets only 3 stars from me.

In her latest novel, Poor Little Bitch Girl, Collins once again writes a page-turner of a novel filled with sex, friendship, a kidnapping, a murder mystery, and characters whose lives are on a collision course. And again, she succeeds in getting the reader's attention and keeping it.

This novel is a perfect beach read, just in time for spring breakers to head south or on a cruise. Denver Jones, a hard-charging LA lawyer meets up again with former high school classmates Annabelle Maestro and Bobby Santangelo Stanislopolous. Annabelle's movie star mother is murdered and Denver is on her movie star father's defense team. No one in LA knows that Annabelle and her boyfriend run a high end escort service in New York.

Bobby is the son of Collins' most popular recurring character, Lucky Santangelo, who makes a welcome cameo appearance in the novel. Another high school friend of Denver's, Carolyn, is a personal assistant to a senator with whom she is having an affair. When Carolyn goes missing, Denver and Bobby team up to help find her.

The plot races at whiplash speed, yet Collins manages to create characters who are interesting. Denver is a favorite, falling for the handsome Bobby and having a torrid affair with an artist she meets in NYC and a Mario Lopez-like TV entertainment show host. (When it rains, it pours for Collins' female protagonists and sex.) Bobby is a chip off the old Lucky block, a hard-working, handsome, rich, good guy- every girl's dream.

One fun aspect of Collins books is figuring out which real life rich and famous people are thinly veiled as characters. I also liked that this book has less graphic violence against women than in earlier Collins novels.

And as always there is lots of sex in the book. Smart men might pick up a copy as a gift for their wives or girlfriends. Just make sure you are there when they finish it a few hours after they start it!

I have never read Jackie Collins before this book, but I will definately read more! I loved this book! This book reminded me a lot of Candace Bushnell's books (she wrote Sex and the City). I enjoyed her books also! I loved how all the characters came together. My favorite character by far was Denver. I felt like Annabelle and Carolyn didn't have much substance to them, but Devner hit the spot for me. I was secretly routing for her and Bobby to meet up and hook up and was so glad when they finally did! I loved that this book was very real and raw and to the point! I finished this book in 2 days because I could not put it down! I loved how she told what happened with all the people at the end also which gave the readers closure. I also liked how most everyone who had it comming to them got theirs...Spoiler: Carolyn got what she deserved for sleeping with a married man, Ramirez's brother got what was coming to him for all his wrong doings, Rosa got hers for stealing Carolyn's purse...everyone but Gregory...and that I hated!

My only complaints about the book is that Carolyn didn't get at least some kind of revenge on Gregory! After what that man did to her I wanted her to at least turn him in or have choice words for him or something! Also, I wished Dever and Bobby would have hooked up sooner in the book. I would have loved to have more of them and felt like as soon as they got together the book ended! Other than that though...it was an awesome book!

Annabelle Maestro is such a poor little rich girl. The breed from two of Hollywood's hottest legends, Annabelle is living up life running a high priced call girl business with coke addict boyfriend, Frankie. When her mother is brutally murdered in her own home and her father is the main suspect, Annabelle is forced to fly home from New York to Los Angeles for the funeral. She is toted along by an old friend turned lawyer, Denver, who is struggling to defend the legendary Ralph Maestro in his wife's murder, all while trying to find a suitable man. Denver's best friend, Carolyn, has managed to get herself knocked up by the very married US senator she works for, and has now been kidnapped as part of the senator's grand scheme.
Poor Little Bitch Girl, the 26th best-seller from acclaimed writer Jackie Collins is another great. The scandal of Hollywood, the raunchy sex scenes, and the way each character entwines with another makes this a page turner until the end. The only problem I had was the big "scandal" wasn't really that scandalous, if you follow the Tinseltown standards. But still another fabulous novel from Collins that will drag you into that selfish, all about me world, and make you not want to come back out.

Venus is with Billy. Lennie & Lucky are still strong and Alex is still fascinated with her. Maria goes by Max and u trying to lose her virginity with a guy she meets online who is if course not who he says he is. Gino is turning 95 and everyone is coming in for the celebration.

Never go meet someone that you met online. Thank goodness for Ace. He seems like a really, really good guy. Max is definitely Lucky's daughter but she still isn't Lucky. Her valley girl talk is driving me NUTS.

Ups and downs, love and break ups, death and destruction; JC's recipe for success. Not sure why I am still reading this series, it is really starting to drag. Too many new characters, it's starting to get dizzying.

Billy and Venus married? Kind of a joke.

Book deals with three women--Denver Jones (a powerful attorney in LA), Carolyn Henderson (a personal assistant for a senator she's sleeping with) and Anabelle Maestro (a New York madam). They all get involved in murder, drugs and affairs. Late in the book hot Bobby Santagelo pops up (and his mom Lucky makes a few "appearances").

If you're a Collind fan u know what to expect--a long but fun quick-moving story with interesting characters and situations. The best thing about her books are that characters (and relationships) change from book to book and the characters grow and develop. You're never bored and really get into them. This is one of her best ones. Sit back and enjoy!

Poor Little Bitch Girl is my first Jackie Collins experience. A very easy read, however, I thought it lacked fluidity. The way she wrote about the characters, especially in the introduction, seemed forced and unnatural.
The summary, which reads "...and secrets from the past have a way of coming back to haunt everyone..." led me to believe I would be reading a mystery filled with scandal, which was not the case. I would have overlooked the poor synopsis if the plot and characters were more developed. The story ended abruptly with a brief, rushed, "6 months later" epilogue that left me very unsatisfied.

I was a little disaapointed with Jackie's latest book. I am a HUGE Collins fan, and have been for over 15 years. I literally checked her website daily anticipating this novel. However, I was a tad disappointed with this less steamy edition. I think the storyline was good and definitely leaves room for more books to come. But the ending really fell flat. I thought for sure it could have wrapped up more satisfying to the reader. There was also A LOT less "steam" in this book. Overall, it was good, but not great. But I will always be a Jackie fan and will continue to look forward to her next.

In recent novels Jackie Collins seemed to be forgetting what's made her one of the world's bestselling authors with some of her latest novels being a bit dry with characters that were passable, but not exciting.

'Poor Little Bitch Girl' is a return to the retro fun of Collins' earlier novels, namely Lovers & Gamblers, The Stud and Thrill. Collins has something for everyone in this novel, from Los Angeles to New York to Washington, there are vivid characters from coast to coast.

The three female leads, Denver, Annabelle and Carolyn present different different impressions about the roles women take in contemporary society. Supported by Bobby Santangelo, the strapping son of Collins' recurring diva, Lucky, the three girls take a mega trip filled with murder, sex, disappearance and money.

Ever the moralist, Collins' tale wraps up perfectly, not one loose end.

I absolutely loved this book, it was the perfect long haul flight novel, it never got dull and kept my interest from the first page to the last.

Have a blast with this one, it's clear Jackie Collins did!

Annabelle Maestro IS a total spoiled little bitch girl.
I wanted to smack her the minute she was introduced into the story.
This was the first Jackie Collins book I'd ever read, and it won't be the last. There was plenty of scandalous moments, twists, and turns to keep me hooked until the very end.
I loved it!

This was my first Jackie Collins book (probably my last). I had the audio version and listened on my commute to and from work. I didn't really know what to expect and I am not sure what the other books are like but I thought it was incredibly cheesy on all levels. I found myself rolling my eyes often and thinking- am I really listening to this?? The cultural references seemed so forced and just randomly thrown in to make it look like the author knows what is going on in the modern hollywood gossip world. Some of them I was actually laughing at, because they didn't even seem to be in context at all. And, it seemed, there was one cultural reference in every paragraph, distracting from the actual story. Some of the characters and their development didn't make any sense to me. At first, Denver is portrayed as headstrong, smart and unlike the hollywood group she grew up with and around. She was supposed to be 'different'. As we learn more about her, she is just as superficial as the others- she cares about looks, clothes and celebrities just as the other ones do. She isn't different- she just has a better job. Don't read this book if you are looking for anything with substance- the book is pretty much like the characters: fake and over the top.

I have read every book Jackie Collins has written and again she does not disappoint. She brings her characters to life like no one else. They live in a fantasy world to me but I felt like I was along for the ride. I get the chance to escape into the fantasy life we have shoved down our throats by television shows, magazines, etc.
Even when her characters seem naive, they always end up being a strong woman character. Denver shows us it is ok not be a size 0 and that yes, it is possible to get your dream guy.

Collins is also good at bringing in various characters to tie her books and their worlds together. My hope is the next book is a sex-capade involving Denver and Bobby.

I haven't really enjoyed Jackie's past few books, but this one was the perfect throwback to the writing I grew up loving. My only complaint was Denver's narrative - no one talks like that, it was way too proper (the girl apparently doesn't believe in using contractions), and it was distracting. Other than that, a great read and I'm glad I picked it up!

Who doesn't love Jackie Collins? While she isn't writing at the top of her game any more ("Lucky" is among my favorite of her books), she's still cranking them out...and maybe that's the problem. This one seemed rushed to me. I love to see that Lucky is back and her son is rising, but the story lacks the depth of her earlier books. It's just a race to the finish, with some fun quotes but nothing that fully engrossed me.

This is definitely one of my new favorite Jackie Collins books! It has it all-sex, drugs and mystery. I enjoyed the characters, particularly Bobby Santangelo and Denver Jones. Frankie and Annabelle got on my nerves and I found Fanny hilarious. Overall a great plot and one of her best books.

Poor Little Bitch Girl was the first, and last, Jackie Collins novel for me. This is proof that anyone can write a book and make money at it. The plot is lazy, the sex scenes were worded crudely and left unfullfilling, and the characters are pretentious and unbelievable. I was so disappointed in this work, and couldn't wait for it to be over; there is no depth to the relationships and the murder is just a sideline. Overall, the book read like a beginning writer penned it, not someone who is a famous author.

I was quite pleased when I started the book. "This is a classic Jackie Collins book", I said to myself. Great characters were introduced which made me want to read more, however....

My disappointment came towards the end. What a let down. New characters were introduced at the last minute and there were no real repercussions for devious acts. It was like Jackie Collins gave up and just decided to end the story. I was not left satisfied after reading Poor Little Bitch Girl, I was just left feeling screwed.
