The World Is Full of Divorced Women

Only recommended for diehard JC fans . I enjoyed this book but could see why, for the general reader, it may not be appealing . Unless you've read another book of hers called Lovers & Gamblers, you probably aren't going to appreciate the intricacies of the characters . Many (Al, April, Karmen) that are introduced here are developed more fully in that later work . This book has a lot of comedy in it . If you approach it in a lighthearted way, you may enjoy it . There are a lot of characters and intersecting storylines which can be confusing in the first half . This book captures the spirit and zeitgeist of the 1970s in a palpable way . Jackie excelled at writing strong heroines, Cleo here is the main character, a celebrity journalist making her way as a divorced woman . Bawdy, original, breathtaking, hilarious, weird and slightly wonderful . I enjoyed this book very much, but it's more like a lead-up to Lovers & Gamblers, not so much a stand-alone novel.

This novel seems to concentrate on one thing sex. Cleo James is a British journalist who is married to Mike James she catches him with her best friend, and it turns her life upside down. Another character is Muffin she is a model in England, her boyfriend Jon a professional photographer helps her to the top. There are a few more characters in this book this is a trashy novel.

Collins is fab at keeping the reader engaged in this ignited sexy plot. Mike can't seem to get enough of the young, soft and silky Muffin and his wife Cleo, loving wife and mother is the last to find out about this affair. From power, authority and a sexual appetite for big cha chas, Mike spirals into a deep pit of LOSS!
