Betty Ren Wright's The Dollhouse Murders is a creepy, exciting book about a murder that took place 30 years ago. Amy needs a break from her brain damaged sister, so she goes to stay with her moody aunt, just outside of Claiborne. Little did she know her great grandparents were murdered in the very house she's sleeping in.
In the attic is a precious doll house that is an exact replica of the house in which she's staying. This dollhouse is trying to tell a secret about the night of the murders. At night, the dolls move into different positions, relating to the murder. It's up to brave little Amy and her loyal friend Ellen to solve the mystery of the death of Amy's great grandparents.
I think this is a great book and I recommend everyone to read it.

I remember reading this book back in elementary school. At the age of 26, it's still one of my favorite books of all time. I love to go back and reread it. It's still as enthralling as it was when I first read it about 26 years ago.

Amy feels very alone because she has to always watch her brain damaged sister luann. so amy runs away to live with her aunt clare in amy's great grandparents old house. while she is there aunt clare shows a dollhouse to amy that is an exact replica of the house they are living in now. The only thing amy does not know about the house is her great grandparents were murdered in it, but no one knew who killed them. and amy thinks that the dolls in the dollhouse are trying to tell her what happened the night of the murder. i read this book in 4th grade. and i read it twice in 6th grade. this is by far the best book i have ever read!

This is about a responsible girl named Amy who got tired of watching her sister Louann Treloar. In the beginning Amy runs away because she is losing friends because of Louann. When Amy finds out that she is going to stay for a few weeks at her aunt's house, she asked her how her grandparents died. Her Aunt didn't seem to happy about talking about her parents. But when Amy finds out about the dollhouse she lies so her aunt won't worry. I would recomend this book to others because, it's scary at some parts, but it is a wonderfull mystery book that is cool.

The Dollhouse Murders is an excellent book for upper elementary/early middle school readers that provides mystery, chills and some real life lessons.

The book is a very fast easy read at about the fifth grade level and has characterizations, plot and atmosphere worthy of an adult book. There are wonderful subplots about dealing with a mentally disabled sibling as well as the burdens of guilt. The title may turn off male readers but if they give the book a try they will be rewarded with a story more spine-chilling than anything a certain "Goosebumps" series offers.

Dollhouse Murders- I liked this book a lot because the author must have been very creative. Also dolls can't move by themselves so it was a good and hard mystery to read and solve. The way the author, Betty Ren Wright described things was very creative and imaginative. If I were grading this book I would give it 5 stars because it was very exiting and you wanted to keep reading to find out what happened.

This is a wonderful book, with a great ending. It is one of the best books that I have read. I read it when I was in Middle School. Now I am 20 years old. I have a copy of this book somewhere and I want to find it. So that I can read it again. The book was scary when I read it several years ago.
I strongly suggest this book. Especially, to young readers.

Amy's parents seem a little embarassed and only want the family to have to deal with her. Amy is really getting sick of loosing friends because she has to take Louanna with her most of the time and her friends seem to be embarassed to be anywhere with her. Amys Aunt decides Amy could you a break and she could used some company in her dead parents mansion. Amy discovers a dollhouse in the attic of the mansion. Strange things start to happen after she opens the dollhouse. This book is really good and once you get into it it's really hard to put down!

Wright, Betty Ren. (1983). The Dollhouse Murders. New York: Holiday House. I like this book because it is a simple mystery children ages 9-12 can read and enjoy. The book is a very interesting realistic fiction book. While visiting Aunt Clare in her Great grandparent's old house, Amy discovered a wonderful dollhouse in the attic. It is the replica of her Great Granparent's house. Everytime Amy visits the attic eerie things happen. Strange noises come from the dollhouse, lights are on in it and the dolls have been moved from where she had left them. Amy is very frightened, but she wonders if the dollhouse is trying to tell her something about the murders of her Great Grandparents 30 years ago. Amy wants to solve the mystery. On a stormy night Amy and her sister make one more visit to the attic. They watch as the Grandmother doll gives them a clue about the murders. They tell Aunt Clare what the doll revealed to them. Together they solved the murder mystery of that fateful night 30 years ago.

This book was fabulous. Even with the extreme creepiness of it, this book was impossible to put down. This is not the classic murder mystery, but even better. This book had a twisted ending, turning the solution to be completely unexpected. I loved The Dollhouse Murders.

While running away from her mom and brain damaged sister, Amy finds herself at her great-grandparent's old house that her aunt is now getting ready to sell. Helping her aunt clean the attic, Amy finds a huge dollhouse that matches the one her aunt's going to sell, exactly. When she see's the dolls movng by themselves, Amy knows they're trying to tell her something. Supereb! This book took me only an hour because I couldn't put it down!

The Dollhouse Murders is an interesting but flawed look at the workings of modern forensics. Anyone who is curious about how a crime scene is dealt with will certainly find lots of material here that is new and interesting.
There are at least three flaws in the book, however. The first is right on the front cover. Instead of six crimes, there are only four. Two of the investigations were not murders.
There are two other errors, but I will leave it to the reader to find them. One is in the bakery robbery scene and the other is in the hotel invastigation. Good luck!

This book has a great premise --- a young girl stumbles onto a wonderful dollhouse which holds the key to a very old mystery. There are some suspenseful parts but not so spooky to be worried about nightmares (I hope).

I liked the book because it was really mysterious. There was a spirit in the house using a doll house. Once I started reading I didn't want to put the book down until I had finished it. It is my favorite mystery book.

Why are they teaching these books in school? This is unacceptable school material. And to teach about feelings and what-not. Again, I ask if a teacher wants to be a therapist or counselor, then go to school to be a therapist or a couselor. What happened to books without all the murdering happening that used to get taught in school. And you wonder what's wrong with kids today.

A Bad Book: Dollhouse murders

by Betty Ren Write

This mysterious book will give you goose bumps until you figure out the mystery! The book will give you goose bumps because it's a mix of scary and boring. Scary because of the murder and boring because the action didn't take place until page 70 or so.

Amy is a very frightened girl who misunderstands her sister. Aunt Clare Amy's aunt and a very moody woman. The action of the book takes place in aunt Clare's attic. Amy runs away from home because her mother annoyed her, and goes to her aunt Clare's house. There she finds a dollhouse that will change her life.

I don't recommend this book to anyone, because it was all ways changing the subjects and it didn't really seem like a mysterious book.
