This is a fabulous true story about Dean Karnazes and his ability to run ultra marathon miles. It will be a 'read in one sitting' book because it is so unbelievable.

His recent run of fifty states in fifty days will be more impressive but this book is a humble story about a humble runner willing to forgo fame and fortune all for the sake of self satisfation. If you are looking for an exciting book to read, this one is it!

Hilarious read and got me back into running. Eating Cheesecake and pizza logs to keep his calorie count up, all while almost falling asleep while running. This dude is sick, but incredibly driven to run and keep running. Also liked and would recommend Born to Run.

I started this book yesterday and I'm already finished. And that is saying something for me, I read at an snails pace. This book is so inspiring!!! It makes me want to lace up my shoes and run!!! Running an Ultra is now a goal of mine and I hope to accomplish that goal one day. maybe even the Western States!!!

Well written and very insightful. Details the ways that he motivates himself to keep going even after most rational people would have hung up the towel and cried. I'm glad I read it, and it has helped me to push through my own mental and physical barriers while running.

Well written book period! Team Dean knows how to motivate someone to go out and "give their all" The book is written with the typical runners' mentality of twisted humor about the pain that one goes through while pushing their body beyond what it could do the day before, then doing it again the next day.

I purchased another Dean Karnazes book for my son as a Christmas gift. He is an avid runner but not a voracious reader, so I thought a book about oneof his favorite sports would engage him. Well, he loved it! And quickly purchased this book by D.K.. I can say he enjoyed this one just as much as the first!

After starting it took two evenings and then I were through..I might not be ready for the extremes like a Team Dean, but I'm definitely ready for my first 26.2 in the year to come.. And know the feeling of wanting to get out of the sick bed and running....

great book, loved the way it was written. Would love more info tho on his family..after running a marathon I know how much time the training takes and how much you have to compromise family life..and NO getting up at 5am is not an option !

This book is a good read for runners and aspiring runners alike, Dean talks about his motivations for doing what he does, what he thinks about whilst running, describes the training he does and gives some great descriptions of the actual races he's done. Overall a really good read, and yes I went running several times after reading a bit of the book :) Nothing like some motivation!

One of the most inspirational books I have ever read. 'Team Dean' is truly an amazing person. (My running buddies and I refer to him as "The World's #1 All-around Badass.") Anyone with even the slightest shred of interest in running/fitness should read this book. It is a story about running, but also about life. His down-to-earth and optimist mindset on life is contagious. I would recommend this book to ANYONE. It is a very easy read, too.

I was expecting some useful and inspiring information here like I found in other books such as Eat and Run or Born to Run. However, I've just found a series of achievements poorly described and not very interesting to me. At some point it looks like a boring (and quite gocentric and colorist) adventure book.

What inspired me about Dean Karanzes was his sense of determination. Why on Earth would anyone run 226.2 miles? Read this book and somehow you can start to make sense of it. If you're looking to get off the couch as a first time athlete or just need a little reassurance that your desire to always physically push yourself to your limit is not yours alone I'd suggest this book. It's as puzzling as it is captivating.

Very inspirational and entertaining read, I'd certainly recommend this to anyone who enjoys pushing the limits of their physical, mental, emotional limits - or anyone looking to better understand someone who does.

This book was inspirational. At times I felt like his ego was a bit much but really, this guys determination and athletic prowess is ridiculous. You can't read this and not be impressed with his accomplishments. Maybe he is a freak of nature physically... but damn, it is impressive!
