The Pagan Stone (The Sign of Seven Book 3)

The Pagan Stone is the third and final Installment in the Sign of Seven Trilogy by Nora Roberts. The Sign of Seven Trilogy is about three boys, Caleb Hawkins, Fox O'Dell and Gage Turner, who live in the town of Hawkins Hollow. On the boy's tenth birthday, they accidentally released a demon call Lazarus Twisse from the Pagan Stone walking away with each a piece of the Bloodstone. Since then the demon returns every seven years, in the seventh month, on the seventh day. It infects the people and causes death and destruction in the town of Hawkins Hollow. The three boys now men received special powers such as the self-healing ability and "sight" into the past for Cal, present for Fox and future for Gage and each a piece of the Bloodstone their only weapon that can destroy the demon Lazarus Twisse. The three men combine forces with three women, Quinn Black, Layla Darnell and Cybil Kinski who have a connection to the troubles in Hawkins Hallow. Together they work towards finally stopping the demon for good.
Shared nightmares and violence plague friends Cal, Fox, and Gage, and Quinn, Layla, and Cybil, women who find themselves bound by fate. The three pieces of the Bloodstones now fused back together to use as a weapon to destroy the demon, if only they knew how to use it. The Pagan Stone focuses on Gage and Cybil who share the ability to see into the future. They devise a plan to end the death and destruction the demon creates (Roberts, 2008).

Three boys meet three girls. They happen to have something mystical in common. They are entangled in a life-and-death struggle(L&DS) with the forces of good and evil (G&E). First couple falls in love in book one. Pretty good sex scene includes the words "fisting her hair" perhaps more than once. L&DS with G&E is kind of lame, but maybe something better is coming. Second couple falls in love in book two. Fairly good sex scene includes the words "fisting her hair" perhaps several times. L&DS with G&E is kind of lame, but surely this is the build-up to the big finish in book three. Right? So ... Third couple reluctantly falls in love in book three in spite of the fact that their relationship makes absolutely no sense, and that the main male character is an emotionally twisted, angry, immature mess. Sex scene; "fisting her hair". Evil is conquered in definitively lame L&DS with G&E scene. All is right with the world again. Story ends abruptly.

writing wonderful stories that keep you wanting to turn the pages. Then when you are nearing the end you will slow down because you don't want the storyline to end. Oh well on to the next nora Roberts Novel.

Nora Roberts has a weak style of writing in general, but this whole series is at an all time new low, IMO. The plot line is overly predictable...no surprises, whatsoever. I ended up skimming the last book because it was just so obvious what would happen that I was hoping maybe I would be wrong. Alas, I wasn't.
