Stone Fox (Harper Trophy Book)

Great chapter book for 3rd graders. My grandson has problems with reading but this book held his interest and he has read it several times. It stimulated interest in reading for him that is hard to find.

This book was recommended in a homeschool magazine I received and my children and I really enjoyed it. Great book for further discussion on a number of topics. Prompted talks about the difference between needs and wants, making sacrifices, never giving up, what we truly value and on and on. For a relatively short story, it packs a punch!

An wonderful story with a provocative ending that leaves the 7-8 year old readers having to face the finality of death and specifically the death of an animal, perhaps for the first time. None of the kids in my group (of five) liked the ending but they were willing to talk about it. And there were lots of questions.

This book is awesome because it has a dramatic ending and lots of action. I like the book because the author includes a lot of details. Finally l like it because because the author turned a real story and changed the character's.
