As with the previous books in this series, the storyline keeps your attention from beginning to the end. It is easy to read and is well written. As I have said of earlier books of the series, it is spell-binding.

In the latest installment we find Sloan pregnant and gaining weight, much to her disdain, steadily. Warren is steadfast in his love and stays by her side throughout every crazy moment. The love they share is solid and well written. Enter Nathan, I love Nathan, I want Nathan to have a love interest. Sloan needs to be able to break the hold he has on her. Maybe, Taiya? The crazy little lady might be what he needs! Oh wait, there is more, enter Lady Fury, can't understand why she hates Sloan so much. But then again, who wouldn't want Warren? This book is a little darker than the last one, but it still has a lot of humor, i.e. car scene. I loved reading Sloan come into all the powers. I will be sad if she loses them. It is kind of nice having her be more confident and not second guess herself all the time. And I love when the woman rescues herself. But be prepared for the cliffhanger.

I am torn and unhappy.... I do not appreciate the ending AT.AAAALLLL!
***SPOILER ALERT***
I understand the need for tension, drama and uncertainty but good god man this love triangle is ANNOYING! Sloan came across as a whiny entitled brat. As a primary character and heroine I find myself hating her and trying to focus on other characters.
This series has unending potential but please adjust the storyline.

Elicia Hyder is a very intellegent, unique, brilliant writter this continuation story of Sloan, Warren, Nathan, her best friend Arianna and her body guard Reuel who I absolutely love her grunts doesn't talk much and love to eat. They take a trip to Chicago which was a bit disastrous for Sloan she could have died they uncovered truths that were shocking more than you can imagine. I voluntarily reviewed a copy if this book it kept me on the edge of my seat there are laugh out loud situations, danger, betrayal secrets. Enemies from the future and they still have to deal with demons ftom the past and oh YA Sloan has 139 days to live unless she can stop it thus is one amazing roller coaster of a journey it is a must read this series is the best I highly recommend to read and this book is probably the best of the 4 so far I will be on pins and needles waiting for the next book I say say enough about Elicia's writing she knows how to capture her readers and keep them amazing job you have to get this book.

Before ‘The Taken,’ no book of this series has received a five star review from me. The main reason? I felt that the main protagonist, Sloan, wasn’t evolving. Through the first three books, she was too flippant and too whiny. She didn’t seem to fully grasp or even believe the extraordinary things happening to and around her. Also, while threatening supernatural events escalated through the course of those books it often seemed that the least desirable aspects of her personality became more pronounced and more annoying.

This book however, sees substantial rising action and Sloan’s character evolves to meet and manage a pretty significant development. One of the things I really like about this author is her ability to turn the action of the story suddenly and without warning. The scene of Sloan’s transformation is stunning because it is an extraordinary event taking place amidst very ordinary action. It caught me off guard, was believable given the setup to this point and I loved it.

Bottom line: this is the best of the series so far.

*Some spoilers

This series has turned out to be one of my favorites and I truly can't wait for the next book.
Warren is incredibly patient with Sloan and Nathan's relationship but this is actually why I don't usually read books with cheating or triangles, because my heart breaks for Nathan. I actually cried a few times over his heartbreak. I know the story was set up to make me cry for them both but I have zero sympathy for Sloan in that situation. Nate is actually my choice for the book boyfriend but I was thankful they didn't end up together just because I wouldn't want anything to happen to him and if they were a couple he'd never be out of danger. I really hope he ends up with his own series and finds some happiness.
The Adrianne/Azrael thing seriously creeps me out. I'd flip if my 28 year old best friend started dating my husband/fiancé's hundreds of years old dad. Gross!

Thankfully the rest of the story was written so well that I was hooked completely and couldn't stop reading even with the relationships being depressing and gross. The author was able to create a tale that keeps me coming back for more.

I really love this series and highly recommend you read them all in order. Jumping in at this point is going to make you want to go back and read the earlier ones.

Sloan is such a great character. She is so funny. I love all the humor in the book that balances out some of the darker parts of the story. There is some very juvenile fart humor and then a hilarious sex scene in the car that had me laughing and smiling. They all love to tease one another.

She has a lot on her plate. Sloan is expecting a child with her finance, trying to plan a wedding, and trying to stay alive as she has many dangerous enemies who want to see her dead and take her child from her.

Luckily, she has some great support. Her fiance Warren loves her very much and is very protective. He does his best to keep her safe but her instincts sometimes drive her to make dangerous choices. Her best friend might drive her nuts with the wedding plans but gives her something positive to focus on.

Nathan is her other protector and supporter. I so wish she didn't have to choose between Nathan and Warren. They love each other too and have such a strong connection. In this book, you really see how much they still respond to one another. I don't want him to end up going his own way. I like both Warren and Nathan and they both fit with her.

There are always so many surprises with each book. This one reveals some secrets she did not expect at all but answer many questions. It ends again with a major cliffhanger that leaves you eager for the next book.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

*honestly and voluntarily reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

This is about a 4.5 for me! I love the series and the author's writing and how personable all the characters are. By now, it's a treat for the fans who've been around enough times to get a feel of all the characters, so this really felt more like a transition with good times (and frightening ones) than a story. If I hadn't known about them, I wouldn't have understood the depth of Nathan's character because it's already been established in the previous installments. SO yes, it's a series you need to read in order to understand the way they all act in this, but I still feel like because no one was really reintroduced, it felt more like one of those bonus arcs you sincerely wish your favorite author to write just for you. It was a little less paranormal and more After in the HEA, which I liked, because it's been long overdue, but at the same time, I did miss all the craziness that hooked me into this series!

So overall, a great story that entertained me and made me laugh, cry, miss Sloan like crazy, and wish that I already had the next installment so I didn't have to die like I do whenever I get to the not-cliffhanger cliffhanger. T_T Definite recommend if you love the angel/demon fantasy paranormal spiels with weird love triangles that aren't any longer, tons of karma and a very pregnant woman that just can't catch a break.

Loved loved loved this story and the series! Didn't even stop for a second to think about buying each additional one after the first. Read them all in less than 2 days and will find it difficult to wait a few months for the next!

Great series to get if you like a bit of romance without it being a "romance book" mixed with the possibilities of a world where all is not always seen. Nice mix of mystery, romance, and paranormal, without being the usual or expected paranormal stuff.
Great characters, wonderfully detailed world, very few typos or I was so entranced I didn't notice....(which would be rare for me since its a huge pet peeve of mine). Additionally, there was not too much redundancy in the series nor was there too detailed and/or too gratuitous sex scenes. All in all, just the right amount of everything. Truly an enjoyable series that I highly recommend!
